Bordeaux's Jefferson Poirot suspended after incident with Henry Pollock
Bordeaux-Begles prop Jefferson Poirot has been suspended for two weeks following an incident at the end of Saturday's Investec Champions Cup final. The 32-year-old was banned after clashing with Northampton Saints' back row Henry Pollock after the final whistle of his side's 28-20 win in Cardiff. Poirot was alleged to have grabbed Pollock by the throat when several players argued at full-time, which Saints director of rugby Phil Dowson said was "uncalled for and out of order". The loosehead appeared before an independent disciplinary committee this afternoon, and accepted he had committed an act of foul play, which warranted a red card. Poirot had been cited for a violation of Law 9.27, which states: "A player must not do anything that is against the spirit of good sportsmanship". The independent Disciplinary Committee upheld the complaint, and it determined that the offending was at the low-end of World Rugby's sanctions and four weeks was selected as the appropriate entry point. "Taking into account the player's guilty plea, his good disciplinary record and his full co-operation with the disciplinary process, the Committee decided to reduce the sanction by the maximum of 50% before imposing a two-week suspension," an EPCR statement said. Poirot will miss Bordeaux's final two games of the Top14 regular season versus Toulon and Vannes, but will be available to return for the play-offs.

France star summoned after on-field fracas with Henry Pollock
France star summoned after on-field fracas with Henry Pollock The England back-row has continued to dominate the thoughts of the French club since they won the Champions Cup in Cardiff Henry Pollock clashes with Jefferson Poirot (Image: Getty Images ) Bordeaux-Begles prop Jefferson Poirot has been cited for allegedly grasping Henry Pollock's throat after the final whistle of Saturday's Champions Cup final. An on-field altercation broke out following Bordeaux's 28-20 victory over Northampton at the Principality Stadium, with Saints rugby director Phil Dowson describing it as 'uncalled for and out of order' and claiming that there had been foul play involved. Tournament organiser EPCR have confirmed that a complaint has been made by the match citing commissioner, Tim Lowry. The prop will now face a disciplinary hearing by video conference on Thursday. An EPCR statement read: 'Poirot is alleged to have committed an act contrary to good sportsmanship towards the Northampton Saints number 8, Henry Pollock, shortly after the final whistle in contravention of Law 9.27, in that he is alleged to have grasped the throat of Henry Pollock in a way that was dangerous and had the potential to cause serious harm.' Speaking after the game, Northampton and England fly-half Fin Smith said: 'They were after him (Pollock). I don't think they liked him. 'I remember they (Bordeaux players) all sort of charged at him and were trying to get hold of him. Article continues below 'I am surprised if you have just won a European Cup, the first thing you want to do is start a fight with a 20-year-old. I felt that was interesting.' The British and Irish Lions call-up certainly got under the French club's skin, with fly-half Matthieu Jalibert claiming afterwards that the England back-row had made comments about Bordeaux in the press prior to the match. 'I told him (Pollock) that he didn't know our club,' Jalibert told BBC Sport. 'They said some things in the press which we didn't really appreciate. 'They said that we were a club of mercenaries who are here for the money. I just told him that he doesn't know our history, where we came from and that he must respect all clubs.' The France fly-half, along with wing Louis Bielle-Biarrey, mocked Pollock's celebrations on the flight back to France on Sunday, just as the French outfit had done in the Principality Stadium dressing rooms after the match on Saturday. A sign was also held up by the players at their victory parade in Bordeaux on Sunday, once again referring to the 20-year-old. The other citing from the European finals weekend in Cardiff involves Bath and England back-row Sam Underhill, who had avoided a red card in Friday's Challenge Cup final. The former Ospreys flanker received a yellow card from Scottish referee Hollie Davidson after a dangerous tackle on Lyon full-back Davit Niniashvili - but he has now been cited for the incident. Underhill's hearing will be held on Tuesday. Article continues below Any suspension could potentially make him a doubt for Bath's Gallagher Premiership play-off run-in - with the club looking to add the league to their Challenge Cup and Premiership Cup crowns.

‘I don't think they liked him' – Bordeaux-Begles' Jefferson Poirot cited for allegedly grasping Henry Pollock's throat
An on-pitch fracas broke out following Bordeaux's 28-20 victory over Northampton at the Principality Stadium. Saints rugby director Phil Dowson described it as "uncalled for and out of order" and that there had been foul play involved. Tournament organiser European Professional Club Rugby confirmed that a complaint has been made by the match citing commissioner Tim Lowry. Bath and England flanker Sam Underhill, meanwhile, has been cited following an incident during the Challenge Cup final in Cardiff less than 24 hours earlier. Underhill received a yellow card from Scottish referee Hollie Davidson after a dangerous tackle on Lyon full-back Davit Niniashvili, but a complaint has now been made by match citing commissioner Philippe Lenne. Underhill's hearing will be held on Tuesday, with any suspension potentially making him a doubt for Bath's Gallagher Premiership play-off on June 6, and the final eight days later if the west country club get there.

Bordeaux prop cited for allegedly grasping Pollock's throat
BORDEAUX PROP JEFFERSON Poirot has been cited for allegedly grasping Northampton back row Henry Pollock's throat in the immediate aftermath of the Champions Cup final last weekend. Poirot and other Bordeaux players were involved in an exchange with Pollock after the final whistle of their 28-20 victory in Cardiff last weekend. 20-year-old Pollock and Northampton were aggrieved following the incident, which has now led to a citing against Poirot. Northampton director of rugby Phil Dowson said there had been 'foul play' involved and that the match officials had assured Saints the incident would be dealt with. Bordeaux out-half Matthieu Jalibert revealed that he and his team-mates had felt Pollock and Northampton had disrespected them in the build-up to the final. Advertisement 'I told him that he didn't know our club,' Jalibert told the BBC. 'They said some things in the press that we didn't really appreciate. 'They said that we were a club of mercenaries who are here for the money. I just told him that he doesn't know our history, where we came from and that he must respect all clubs. I know it is their way of preparing for matches, but they must have respect too.' Poirot will face an independent disciplinary hearing on Thursday for allegedly contravening Law 9.27: A player must not do anything that is against the spirit of good sportsmanship. 'EPCR has received a citing complaint against the Union Bordeaux-Bègles prop, Jefferson Poirot (No 1), following the Investec Champions Cup final match between Northampton Saints and Union Bordeaux-Bègles at the Principality Stadium on Saturday, 24 May,' reads a statement from EPCR. 'Poirot is alleged to have committed an act contrary to good sportsmanship towards the Northampton Saints Number 8, Henry Pollock, shortly after the final whistle in contravention of Law 9.27; in that he is alleged to have grasped the throat of Henry Pollock in a way that was dangerous and had the potential to cause serious harm. 'The complaint was made by the match Citing Commissioner, Tim Lowry (Ireland). 'Law 9.27 A player must not do anything that is against the spirit of good sportsmanship. 'Under World Rugby's Sanctions for Foul Play, Law 9.27 carries the following sanction entry points for offending of this nature: Low-end – 4 week/matches; Mid-range – 8 weeks/matches; Top-end 12-52 weeks/matches. 'Simon Thomas (Wales, Chair), Marcello D'Orey (Portugal) and Val Toma (Romania) have been appointed as the independent Disciplinary Committee for the hearing, which will take place by video conference on Thursday 29 May.' Meanwhile, Bath flanker Sam Underhill has been cited for a high tackle in his side's Challenge Cup final victory against Lyon on Friday. Underhill was only yellow carded by referee Hollie Davidson for the tackle but the citing commissioner, Philippe Lenne, believes it met the red card threshold. Underhill will face a disciplinary hearing tomorrow.

Poirot cited for post-match Champions Cup scuffle with Pollock
Former France captain Poirot, 32, was seen making contact with the England back-rower just after the full-time whistle. Poirot will appear at a disciplinary hearing on Thursday. "Poirot is alleged to have committed an act contrary to good sportsmanship towards the Northampton Saints Number 8, Henry Pollock, shortly after the final whistle in contravention of Law 9.27," EPCR said.
