Tom Brady Has One-Word Reaction to Magic Johnson Showing off His Billionaire Lifestyle
Tom Brady Has One-Word Reaction to Magic Johnson Showing off His Billionaire Lifestyle originally appeared on Athlon Sports. While many fans remember Magic Johnson from his glory days with the "Showtime" Lakers teams of the 1980s, the 65-year-old has since become an accomplished businessman and entrepreneur. The five-time NBA champion shared a post to his Instagram account on Thursday to provide some motivation to his followers. Johnson's caption read, "You don't need much motivation to workout with this beautiful backdrop!" The video shows Magic walking on a treadmill as the drone camera pulls back to reveal his location. Johnson is aboard a huge yacht named Whisper, although it's unknown whether it's his vessel or a charter. The Instagram reel then cuts to show the yacht from another angle, from the vantage point of striking cliffs and exposed rocks near crystal-blue shallows, which could be located somewhere in the Mediterranean. With all the attention from Johnson's followers, one fan took special notice. NFL legend Tom Brady congratulated Johnson's post by leaving a reply that read, "Yessir🔥." Brady and Johnson are connected indirectly in business, as they are both minority owners in several sports leagues. Brady, along with Mark and Carol Davis, has ownership of the Las Vegas Aces. The former New England Patriots quarterback is also a minority owner of the NFL's Las Vegas Raiders. Magic, who is reported to have a net worth of $1.5 billion, is affiliated with the Los Angeles Sparks as part of a collective called Sparks LA Sports, which owns the franchise. Johnson has developed countless businesses over the years. He is the CEO and chairman of Magic Johnson Enterprises (MJE), an investment company with a focus on working with underserved urban communities. Founded in 1987, MJE also owns a portion of the NFL's Washington Commanders, MLB's Los Angeles Dodgers, MLS's Los Angeles FC and NWSL's Washington Spirit. Damian Lillard Joining Timberwolves After Bucks Release Would Be a Problem
Damian Lillard Joining Timberwolves After Bucks Release Would Be a Problem originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Minnesota Timberwolves are a team that could use a replacement point guard, and one has recently become available to interested and patient teams. On Tuesday morning, the Milwaukee Bucks officially released NBA All-Star Damian Lillard amid his recovery from a torn Achilles tendon injury. Advertisement With the team waiving Lillard, they stretched $113 million remaining on his contract over five years to acquire free agent Myles Turner from the Indiana Pacers. ESPN's NBA insider Shams Charania was first to report the news. Lillard, a nine-time All-Star, averaged 24.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game in his two seasons on the Bucks. While the team failed to return to championship glory with him, he has been an impressive player when at his top form. Former Milwaukee Bucks guard Damian Ruszkowski-Imagn Images The Timberwolves have made several roster moves recently, primarily through the NBA Draft and by re-signing key players Naz Reid and Julius Randle. More recently, they've lost Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Luka Garza, and Josh Minott. Advertisement Many fans are still hoping the team will address what is a glaring issue at point guard. Mike Conley isn't getting any younger and is no longer playing at the same high level he did in his previous days. Many fans on Reddit's Timberwolves subreddit expressed interest in potentially adding Lillard to the roster to address the issue. "Just In time for the playoffs. I'd take Dame coming off Achilles over Conley putting up 4/2/2 statlines in 25 mins played," one fan commented. "Lillard to the wolves is very intriguing but i'm curious to what a contract for him would even look like," a commenter said. Advertisement "If Lillard wasn't injured and we had cap space, I'd sign him," another fan commented on the thread. The former Bucks guard is one of three star players to have suffered an Achilles injury during the 2025 NBA Playoffs. Along with Lillard, the Boston Celtics' Jayson Tatum and the Indiana Pacers' Tyrese Haliburton also went down with this brutal injury. It typically takes at least a full season to recover, meaning these players may or may not be ready by the 2025-26 postseason. By the time they returned, it would matter whether the teams they were on were even contending, let alone the uncertainty of whether they would play as well as they had previously when they got on the court. Advertisement Lillard, 36, would likely command a high contract for whichever team tries to add him, unless he opts for a lower amount so he can play briefly for a championship contender. According to Hoops Hype, he earned $48,787,676 last year and $329,998,76 for his career. And while Minnesota could gamble on a star like Lillard, it seems smarter to pursue another option for their point guard who is currently healthy and less expensive, as the rest of the roster appears solid and ready to contend again. As of this writing, less expensive point guard free agents available include Dante Exum, Delon Wright, and Monte Morris. Potentially better options include Spencer Dinwiddie and former NBA Rookie of the Year Malcolm Brogdon. And don't forget about Rob Dillingham, a young developing guard that the team seemingly trusts in for the future. The Timberwolves traded with the San Antonio Spurs at last year's draft to add Dillingham to the roster, and he could be who they are banking on to emerge as Conley's replacement. NBA Trade Rumors Suggest Timberwolves Could Participate in Record-Breaking Deal
NBA Trade Rumors Suggest Timberwolves Could Participate in Record-Breaking Deal originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Minnesota Timberwolves haven't made any huge trades this offseason, instead opting to keep most of their 2025 roster intact. Priorities included re-signing Naz Reid and Julius Randle to new contracts, allowing them to return and help Anthony Edwards and the Wolves contend in the Western Conference. Advertisement The NBA Draft brought in new talented big men, with first-round pick French center Joan Beringer and second-round pick Australian center Rocco Zikarsky. Beringer is likely to see more minutes in the rotation in the next season or two. Acquiring Zikarsky was part of a trade with the Chicago Bulls on NBA Draft night. In addition, the team drafted Rasheer Fleming early in the second round and then sent him to the Phoenix Suns. Those are far from the big moves that some Timberwolves fans may have wanted. A few weeks ago, the team was among those mentioned in NBA trade rumors as a potential landing spot for superstar Kevin Durant. However, speculation that he'd go to Minnesota died down when he specified it wasn't somewhere he wanted to play. Advertisement Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards (5). Kyle Ross-Imagn Images All that said, the Timberwolves could still be involved in the blockbuster KD deal, which sent him from the Suns to the Houston Rockets. The caveat remains that they would not be the team getting Durant, but simply participating. The Athletic's John Hollinger and others reported that the trade may involve a record-setting seven teams. Along with the Rockets and Suns, sources reportedly told the outlet that the ongoing negotiations also involve the Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, and Timberwolves. According to The Athletic's report, there was no imminent trade, and details were still being finalized for the deal. Negotiations reportedly began Monday. Advertisement If this were to occur, it would break the previous record trade, which involved six teams in the deal last summer that sent Klay Thompson from the Golden State Warriors to the Dallas Mavericks. The Timberwolves were one of the teams involved in that trade. Before that, a 2021 trade sent Russell Westbrook to the Lakers, involving five teams. The initial report from ESPN's Shams Charania regarding the Durant trade was that he would join the Rockets, and the Suns would receive Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, and various draft picks. Those players still appear to be part of the deal. The more recent negotiations appear also to involve Clint Capela and Daeqwon Plowden. Advertisement The Athletic mentioned that most of the names involved in these negotiations are from trades that had already been agreed upon and reported, but teams hadn't finalized the deals. The Durant trade can't be completed until July 6, when the new league year begins. So Timberwolves fans shouldn't get too excited about a blockbuster trade to add another star to help Ant-Man and his teammates, yet.
