The Apple Watch just got an AI fitness coach — how to enable Workout Buddy in watchOS 26
Instead of just tracking your stats silently, Workout Buddy acts like a personal trainer, offering motivation at the start of workouts, real-time updates on your performance, and encouraging summaries when you're done.
The AI uses voices trained from actual Apple Fitness Plus trainers, so it sounds more like a real coach than a robotic assistant. Setting up Workout Buddy takes just a few taps, but there's some steps you'll need to follow to get this AI fitness companion working properly.
Here's how you can enable Workout Buddy on your Apple Watch.
Before you start setting up Workout Buddy, make sure your hardware can actually run it. You'll need an Apple Watch Series 6 or newer running watchOS 26, since older models don't have the processing power for this AI feature.
More importantly, your paired iPhone must be an iPhone 15 Pro or newer with iOS 26 installed. This is because Workout Buddy relies on Apple Intelligence, which isn't available on older iPhones.
You'll also need to have your device language set to English, as that's the only supported language at launch. If any of these requirements aren't met, you won't see the Workout Buddy option in your settings.
Workout Buddy only works when you have Bluetooth headphones connected, since all the voice feedback comes through audio. You can use AirPods, AirPods Pro, or any other Bluetooth earbuds, just make sure they're paired to either your Apple Watch or your iPhone.
To check your connection, press the side button on your Apple Watch to open Control Center, then tap the AirPlay icon to see which audio device is selected. If your headphones aren't connected, go to Settings, Bluetooth on your Apple Watch and pair them there.
The voice coaching won't work without headphones since there's no speaker on the Apple Watch, so this step is essential before you can use any of Workout Buddy's features.
Open the Workout app on your Apple Watch and select one of the supported workout types. Before starting the workout, tap the Alerts icon in the top-left corner of the screen.
Scroll down until you see Workout Buddy and tap it. You'll see a toggle switch that says Enable Workout Buddy, flip this on. The feature isn't enabled by default, so you have to manually turn it on for each workout type you want AI coaching for.
Once enabled, Workout Buddy will automatically start providing voice feedback whenever you begin that type of workout.
You don't have to enable Workout Buddy for every type of exercise. You might love motivational prompts during runs but prefer complete silence during strength training sessions. Apple designed it as an opt-in feature so you can pick and choose what gets AI coaching.
Go through each supported workout type and decide which ones would benefit from AI feedback. For each workout type you want coached, follow the same process: open that workout, tap Alerts, find Workout Buddy, and enable it.
This gives you complete control over when you want AI assistance and when you'd rather work out in peace.
Once Workout Buddy is enabled, you can personalize how it sounds and what information it shares. To change the voice style, go back to the Workout app, select a supported workout, tap Alerts, then Workout Buddy, and choose Voice Style.
You'll see multiple options that sound different from each other, similar to how you can customize Siri's voice. Pick whichever one motivates you most or feels most natural.
You can also customize what data appears on your workout screen alongside the voice coaching by tapping Workout Views instead of Alerts, then hitting the Edit button to rearrange or add different metrics.
This way, you get both the audio coaching and the visual information that's most useful for your specific training goals.

Roku streaming sticks are up to 37 percent off right now
Roku's latest streaming sticks are both on sale with steep discounts. The Roku Streaming Stick Plus , which supports 4K and HDR10+, is on sale for $29, a discount of 27 percent. If your television only supports HD, pick up the Roku Streaming Stick HD , which is on sale for $19. That's 37 percent off its retail price. Both the Plus and HD versions of the Roku Streaming Stick offer more than 500 free channels through Roku Live TV, which is why we called the Plus the best streaming device for free and live content. Both versions work with virtual assistants including Siri, Alexa and Hey Google, and both are Wi‑Fi only. The Roku interface is uncluttered and easy to use, with a simple remote that features shortcuts to various streaming services. Both sticks support Apple AirPlay for streaming from your Apple device. In our hands‑on review of the Streaming Stick Plus, we noted that this is Roku's first 4K streaming stick that doesn't require a wall adapter for power. Instead, the stick can be powered by your TV's USB port, adding flexibility for TV placement and neater cable management. While the Streaming Stick Plus has a shorter Wi‑Fi range and slightly slower performance than more expensive streaming devices , we still felt it offered a solid value and gave it a score of 85 out of 100. Sony Drops Its Popular Noise-Canceling Headphones by Nearly 50% for Back-to-School Clearance
If you agree with us that over 60,000 Amazon reviewers can't be wrong, you'll also agree that this new deal taking 43% off the price of the Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Premium Noise Canceling Headphones is definitely one to take a look at. Those Amazon reviewers give these over-ear headphones an average rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars, and over 10,000 of them have sold at Amazon in just the past month, mostly at prices above the current $200. Sony has come out with two iterations of the 1000MX series since the XM4s were released in 2020, and yet they keep selling like crazy. It's the combination of industry-best noise cancellation technology combined with stellar battery life, comfort, ease of use, and most definitely price — especially when it takes a big drop like this. See at Amazon If you have a favorite pair of wireless headphones or earbuds that follow you around all day, from desk to gym to couch, you know that the pairing/unpairing/pairing dance as you move from laptop to smartphone to gaming console can be a serious pain. The 1000XM4s don't require you to unpair from one device in order to add another. The multipoint Bluetooth connection allows you to instantly move from one device to another. Sony threw in a pile of cool features like that when they made the 1000XM4 wireless headphones. If you need to remove them, whatever you're listening to will automatically pause so you don't miss anything. The Touch Sensor controls put all of the 1000XM4 features a fingertip away, with pause/play/skip track, volume, voice assistant, and phone controls all on the same ear cup. There's also the Speak to Chat feature that will automatically take you out of Noise Cancellation mode as you listen to music when you start to speak — the music pauses and you go into transparency mode for your in-person conversation, with no button to push. In the end, the single biggest factor that has made the Sony 1000XM4s one of the world's best-selling wireless headphones for the past 5 years is simple — the sound quality and noise cancellation are really good. Sony's Dual Noise Sensor technology is among the very best on the market, adjusting on the fly in response to the background noise of your environment. It's easy to just disappear into your music, and when you do, it comes through with clear, beautiful detail. You may love the Sony 1000XM4 Wireless Premium Noise Canceling Headphones so much that you put their battery to the test, but unless you're able to stay awake for more than 30 hours, the 1000XM4s will win that contest every time. But you're definitely the winner when you grab a pair for just $200 while this 43% off deal is still live at Amazon. See at Amazon

iPadOS 26 Public Beta Brings Stage Manager To More iPads: Is Your iPad On The List?
iPadOS 26 Apple introduced Stage Manager as a new way to multitask on M-series iPads with iPadOS 16 in 2022. I was disappointed because it was limited to M-series iPads, which excluded my iPad Air 4 (A14 Bionic chipset). The feature was later expanded to iPad Pro models with A12X and A12Z chipsets in the iPadOS 16.1 update. However, it is only now, with iPadOS 26, that Apple is expanding Stage Manager to more iPads, including my 2020 iPad Air. The feature is live in iPadOS 26 Public Beta with more mature capabilities. Stage Manager in iPad can now act like multiple desktops, like on the Mac. So, you can have multiple sets of windows and multitask more seamlesslye -- even on older, non-M-series iPads. Currently, Stage Manager is limited to the following iPad models running iPadOS 18: Which iPads Are Getting Stage Manager with iPadOS 26? With iPadOS 26, Stage Manager is now available on the following iPad models: What's New With Stage Manager In iPadOS 26? Apple added an all-new windowing system to iPads with iPadOS 26. It was one of the biggest changes announced at WWDC 2025. The feature allows you to freely resize and rearrange multiple windows in a single space, like on a Mac. Yet, Stage Manager is available in an updated form, which adds the ability to group windowed apps across multiple spaces for a more organized and focused multitasking experience. iPadOS 26 has also added "traffic light" controls for easier window management. I went hands-on with the update on my 13-inch iPad Air (M3), and you can read more about it here. The new update is now available in public beta and is expected to roll out in stable form in September, after the rumored iPhone 17 launch.
