Fourstardave Winner Deterministic Stakes Claim As Divisional Leader
After staking his claim as the nation's top older turf horse on Saturday when adding the FanDuel Fourstardave (G1) to his Resorts World Casino Manhattan (G1) score earlier this summer, St. Elias Stable, Ken Langone, C. Steven Duncker and Vicarage Stable's Deterministic, the earner of nearly $2 million has exited his efforts well and will point to more top-level glory this fall for trainer Miguel Clement. Naturally, the end-of-season goal will be the $2-million Breeders' Cup Mile (G1) at Del Mar.
'He came out in very good order,' Clement said. 'We'll discuss with the connections, but the races that should be on our radar will be the race at Woodbine and the race at Keeneland, obviously. It's a terrific result. I'm over the moon for the entire team and connections.'
The Woodbine Mile (G1) at its namesake venue is scheduled for Saturday, September 13, while Keeneland's $1.25-million Coolmore Turf Mile (G1) goes October 4. Clement noted that one or both are possible.
'He's very game and very sound and doing very well at the moment,' he said. 'I don't know [if it is one or the other]. Maybe you should strike when the iron is hot, but we have all options on the table.'
Deterministic, 3-for-4 this season with three stakes wins, became the second turf horse in 2025 to win two Grade 1s with Saturday's triumph, joining Pegasus World Cup Turf and Turf Classic winner Spirit of St Louis -- a horse Deterministic defeated in both the Manhattan and Fourstardave. The 4-year-old son of Liam's Map's other tally this season was a decisive victory in the Fort Marcy (G2) at the Big A on May 3.
'The stable is firing and that makes everything easier, especially when you have this kind of team and these kinds of horses,' Clement said, reflecting on a second Grade 1 victory in his first couple months as head trainer. 'I'm very lucky in that regard. It's very much needed at this time, to be honest with you, and a welcome distraction from everything else.'

‘Better And Better': Ozara Wins Ballston Spa For ‘Red-Hot' Miguel Clement Barn
'Better And Better': Ozara Wins Ballston Spa For 'Red-Hot' Miguel Clement Barn originally appeared on Paulick Report. Cheyenne Stable LLC's Ozara secured her first graded stakes win in the Grade 2 Ballston Spa Stakes for 4-year-old and older fillies and mares going 1 1/16 miles on the turf at Saratoga on Aug. 8.'It's nice to be hanging with the red-hot Miguel Clement stable,' Cheyenne Stable's owner Everett Dobson, elected the chairman of The Jockey Club on July 30, told Saratoga Live. 'This filly's just gotten better and better. I don't know what her upside is, but every race she just gets a little better.' Ozara broke the quickest of the seven-horse field from post 3, but was taken back behind the pacesetters under jockey Dylan Davis. The 4-year-old daughter of Lope De Vega sat in a joint-third to the inside of Ocean Club throughout the first turn and backstretch. Race leader Edict set fractions of :23 flat, and :46.69, under outside pressure from No Mo Candy. Ozara bided her time on the rail behind the leaders.'She likes to break well, but you kinda let her get to where she likes to get in a good rhythm with her head, and she gets a little keen, but I allow her to let her think she's going to be in control,' Davis told Saratoga Live. 'She kinda creeps up into the backside, but that actually helps me get a better position.''She switches off nicely and then she's just waiting for me to give her her cue,' Davis added. In the stretch, Davis slightly bumped rival Deep Satin while muscling Ozara to clear racing room outside of tiring leader Edict. Once Ozara had a path, she ran down Saffie Joseph-trained No Mo Candy and won by 1 ½ lengths.'Johnny (Velazquez, rider of Edict) ended up not having as much horse as I thought turning for home, so I was able to just move myself out into a clear spot,' Davis told Saratoga Live. 'I gave her one tap on the left hand, and she just responded really well. She took me nicely to the wire.'Ozara paid $9.20 to win. No Mo Candy was second, and Deep Satin was third. The final time was 1:39.65 on firm turf. The bay filly now has seven wins, two seconds, and two thirds from 13 career starts. She has won three stakes this year, with the G2 score joining the De La Rose Stakes on July 10 at Saratoga and the Monroe Stakes at Gulfstream in Miguel Clement told NYRA Communications that Ozara could soon end up in Grade 1 company, with the G1 First Lady on Oct. 4 at Keeneland or G1 Matriarch in November at Del Mar as potential was bred in Ireland by the Fleche D'Or Partnership and purchased for $416,346 at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale in 2022 by Mike Ryan, agent. Phil D'Amato Sends Out Quartet In Yellow Ribbon
Phil D'Amato Sends Out Quartet In Yellow Ribbon originally appeared on Paulick Report. Trainer Phil D'Amato has never shied away from placing multiple entries in big stakes races. He feels that if they fit and they're working well, that's where they will go, regardless of whether or not he has other horses in the barn that also fit and are working has been a winning formula in the past. D'Amato's been known to sweep stakes exactas and, on a few occasions, trifectas. So when he entered four horses in the Grade 2 Yellow Ribbon on Saturday, it was business as usual for the D'Amato operation. This year, he's bringing back Hang the Moon in the Yellow Ribbon. The winner of last year's G2 John C. Mabee at Del Mar and the G2 Rodeo Drive at Santa Anita hasn't been seen since she ran a close sixth in the G3 Robert J. Frankel at the end of last year.'The layoff was by design,' D'Amato says. 'She reached her limit of number of races last year. We tried to squeeze in one or two too many, and I think she needed a little R & R. She's come back as good as ever.'D'Amato will also run Public Assembly, who won the G3 Royal Heroine at Santa Anita in April and then ran fifth in the G1 Gamely on Memorial Day.'I think I rushed her back too quick off of her stakes win,' D'Amato concedes. 'She was a little bit over the top in that last race. Granted, it was a Grade 1 against really nice horses. She's had some time to relax and strengthen up, and get ready for this race. I like her spacing a lot better going into Saturday.' Mission of Joy is the newcomer to the D'Amato barn, coming over from the Graham Motion stable.'She arrived less than a month ago,' D'Amato notes. 'We got two breezes into her on the grass. She came in in good shape and has a lot of back class. Hopefully, she can regain some of that.'That leaves his longshot, Musical Rhapsody, another one he's bringing back off of a long layoff. The Irish-bred hasn't raced since her third-place finish in the CTT and TOC Stakes last year at Del Mar. D'Amato has dominated turf racing at Del Mar in recent years, but he has only won the Yellow Ribbon once, in 2022 with the talented mare, Going Global. There will be several trainers on Saturday looking to make sure he doesn't win another one. Like Michael McCarthy, who will saddle Liguria, winner of the G2 Buena Vista in March. She subsequently finished third in the Gamely.'I thought her effort was solid in the Gamely,' McCarthy contends. 'She's come down here and is training as good if not better. We're looking for a solid performance this weekend.'Liguria came to his barn early this year after racing two years in the east with trainer Chad Brown. She has experience on the track, winning the G3 Jimmy Durante as a 2-year-old in 2022. Heredia is the lone shipper in the race. She's posted a couple of third-place finishes in New York for trainer Motion since arriving in the U.S. this past winter. Unlike most shippers coming into Del Mar to run in a graded stakes, the English-bred is not here testing the waters for this fall's Breeders' Cup.'We're just taking it race by race,' assistant trainer Alice Clapham notes. 'We did think about entering her in a race at Saratoga (the G2 Ballston Spa), but they thought this track might suit her better. We were looking for a firmer track because we haven't had one for her yet.' Watchtower, trained by Richard Baltas, and Mahina, from the Paddy Gallagher barn, round out the field of eight going a mile and a sixteenth on the Jimmy Durante Turf Course. The 73rd running of the Yellow Ribbon Handicap goes off as race 9 on the 10-race Saturday the field from the rail out with the jockeys and the morning line odds: Hang the Moon (Kazushi Kimura, 3-1); Heredia (Juan Hernandez, 4-1); Liguria (Umberto Rispoli, 7/2); Public Assembly (Antonio Fresu, 5-1); Watchtower (Mirco Demuro, 12-1); Mission of Joy (Armando Ayuso, 6-1); Musical Rhapsody (Ricky Gonzalez, 12-1), and Mahina (Hector I. Berrios, 8-1). This story was originally reported by Paulick Report on Aug 8, 2025, where it first appeared.
