RM6.2 Mln Collected From Companies With Highest Number Of Outstanding Summonses
The companies, 11 commercial goods companies and 17 bus operators, had reached out to the department after Transport Minister Anthony Loke gave them a two-week grace period beginning June 25 to settle their outstanding summonses, he added.
'So for the JPJ, we assist by issuing the latest records and how to settle them immediately. We do see all companies wishing to settle their outstanding issues,' he said at the media conference of the 2025 JPJ Family Day at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) sports centre here today.
He thanked the companies that reached out for their cooperation, but noted that there were some others that have yet to settle their summonses but said that the department would give them a grace period of a month starting from July 9 for them to do so.
'If it remains unsettled, the JPJ will blacklist the vehicles under the companies. There are those that we have already blacklisted as they did not respond to us,' he added.
He also said that commercial goods companies and bus operators were eligible for the RM150 compound rate that applies to all vehicles issued with Automated Awareness Safety System (AWAS) summonses.
'Companies with such summonses qualify for the same offer and we have announced on July 1 that the offer is extended to Dec 31 for three categories, the AWAS from Oct 2018 till now, Notice 114 (interview notice) and Notice 115 (request for driver details) starting from 2023,' he added.

Luxury car owners must settle dues before release says Loke
KUALA LUMPUR: Owners of seized luxury vehicles must clear all outstanding dues before their cars are released, Transport Minister Anthony Loke confirmed. He stressed that expired road tax and insurance cases require full payment, including fines, with no exceptions. Loke dismissed claims that some owners preferred paying a RM300 fine over renewing road tax due to lower costs. 'Vehicles seized for expired road tax and insurance will only be released after all payments are settled,' he said. This includes road tax, insurance coverage, and compound fines, with no shortcuts available. He spoke after launching the Pandasafe programme by Foodpanda today. Many owners wrongly assume the RM300 fine is sufficient, Loke noted, emphasising strict enforcement for road safety. When asked about increasing the compound, he said the ministry is reviewing the proposal but changes require legal amendments. The Road Transport Department (RTD) has been actively seizing non-compliant vehicles as part of enforcement efforts. Earlier reports identified over 1,000 luxury cars with long-expired road tax, including Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Porsches. Some owners, including celebrities and business figures, claimed these were only used as weekend cars. - Bernama

Pandasafe Has Potential To Cultivate Safe Riding Culture Among Delivery Riders
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 (Bernama) -- The implementation of the Pandasafe programme, a new initiative by food delivery company Foodpanda, has the potential to cultivate a culture of safe riding among delivery or p-hailing riders, according to Transport Minister Anthony Loke. Not only did the minister laud the initiative, but he also said that the programme can encourage comprehensive risk management and raise awareness of road safety within the food delivery system. 'Pandasafe uses telematics technology to assess how riders ride and collaborates with insurance companies and other stakeholders to instil a safety culture. 'This is the kind of initiative that should be emulated. Safety must be integrated into the corporate systems of all platform-based companies,' he told reporters after launching the initiative here today. Loke also warned against business practices that may pressure p-hailing riders to compromise safety for the sake of meeting delivery quotas or tight deadlines. 'We don't want systems that punish riders for not meeting strict delivery times, which in turn could lead to dangerous riding habits like speeding, illegal overtaking, or taking unnecessary risks to chase more trips. This should not be happening,' he stressed. He said statistics show that two-thirds of fatal road accidents in Malaysia involve motorcyclists, with delivery riders being among the most frequent users of public roads. 'That's why we're strongly pushing for safety to become part of the working culture across the delivery sector,' he said. Earlier in his speech, Loke noted that while the government can create policy frameworks, lasting change can only happen if the private sector also takes responsibility.

AI In Action: Voxela Debuts VCare Pro To Revolutionise Eldercare Facilities
BUSINESS KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 (Bernama) -- Voxela Inc has announced the official launch of its next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) eldercare solution, 'Voxela VCare Pro', which aims to ease operational burdens for caregivers while elevating safety and quality of life for elderly residents in care facilities. VCare Pro leverages AI to automate critical tasks such as incident detection, reporting, and monitoring, enabling caregivers to focus more on personalised resident care, according to the company in a statement. Among its key features is an AI-powered automatic incident reporting system. When incidents such as falls are detected, VCare Pro promptly analyses the situation and generates detailed and accurate reports, minimising the time and effort typically required for manual documentation. The system also includes the Incident Analytics Dashboard that provides visual data on incident trends and patterns, helping facilities implement preventive measures and reduce recurrence. A virtual check-in function allows real-time remote wellness monitoring, enabling staff to carry out targeted interventions without the need for frequent room visits—a feature designed to lower stress levels among caregivers. By reducing indirect care duties and streamlining documentation processes, VCare Pro enables staff to devote more attention to high-priority caregiving responsibilities. In addition, the system boosts overall operational efficiency by cutting down on physical inspections and on-site verifications, contributing to safer and more responsive care environments. The solution has already been adopted by a growing number of eldercare facilities and has received strong positive feedback for its practical benefits and measurable impact on service quality. VCare Pro is part of Voxela's broader vision to 'Make Aging Beautiful' by introducing advanced technologies that address real-world challenges in the eldercare sector.
