123.2 kg of drugs worth over RM4 mln found in abandoned SUV
Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said the drugs were found in a Honda HRV after receiving a public complaint at about 1 am.
'The discovery of these two types of drugs is also among the biggest seizures made by the Perak police this year.
'From an inspection, the police found 80 transparent plastic packets suspected to be methamphetamine weighing 82.8 kg and 39 transparent packets of ketamine weighing 40.4 kg,' he said at a press conference at the Perak police contingent headquarters (IPK), here, today.
However, he stated that the police did not locate the driver or passenger, and the vehicle was identified as a clone car based on an examination of the engine number.
Noor Hisam said the drugs seized were believed to be for the local market and were estimated to be used by 350,000 drug addicts.
He said the case would be investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

SEPANG: The Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Customs Department foiled two major smuggling attempts involving cannabis and liquor worth more than RM3.82 million last month. KLIA Customs director Zulkifli Muhammad in a statement today said the first case involving a drug seizure, had taken place on July 18 when a commercial van was stopped at the KLIA Free Commercial Zone export inspection bay. Police wrapping up case of Iranians who robbed 'hypnotised' tourists in Penang
GEORGE TOWN: Police are finalising investigation papers on the case of five Iranian nationals who were arrested for investigation into the alleged theft of money from foreign tourists around the George Town city centre last Saturday. Acting Penang police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said all five, aged between 19 and 35, have finished their police remand and are currently being remanded by the Immigration Department until Aug 15. "Police are still conducting investigations from various angles including the possibility of their involvement in similar cases in other places (other states) however, there have been no findings so far. "Investigations so far show that they are involved in three cases reported in the George Town area and we are completing the investigation papers before it is sent to the deputy public prosecutor's office for further action," he said when contacted by Bernama today. He said police were also still waiting for a response from the Immigration Department to confirm the authenticity of the passports of the five Iranians, including a married couple, and records of their entry and exit in the country.
