According to a letter sent home to parents and guardians from Northgate High School Principal Dr. Ashley Wilkes, school administrators received a report at around 3 p.m. that a student may have had a firearm on campus earlier in the day. The school's administration and a Coweta County Sheriff's Office school resource officer quickly located the student and removed him/her from contact with others without incident. A handgun was later found in the student's vehicle in the student parking lot.
According to the information provided to Northgate staff and school resource officers, the student had allegedly shown the firearm to another student inside a school locker room earlier that day. However, this was not reported until later in the afternoon.

Shortly after the student was removed from the area, an unrelated Code Red alert was issued on campus at 3:34 p.m. during dismissal, causing confusion. "This alert was an inadvertent Code Red alert made through our school's Centegix system, and was not related to the student in possession of the firearm or the investigation of that matter," Dr. Wilkes wrote in a message to parents. "Please remind your students to notify the administration at any time when they are concerned about their safety or the safety of others," she said. "It is our goal to always be proactive when the safety of students is concerned and to be transparent with our parents and stakeholders if an incident occurs."

An enhanced view of the rear-facing camera saw the cab of the truck, and it appeared there was no trailer. The blinker is on, suggesting the truck was changing lanes and the driver might not have seen Eidson's car. Coweta County sheriff's deputies are working to identify the truck and driver. But they need the public's help. Despite the fact the accident was caught on camera, no view provides enough clarity to see identifying marks. Luck was with Eidson though. He says he travels that road every day for work and the Georgia Department of Transportation had recently cleared trees on the I-85 shoulder at that exit. He might have gone head-on into a tree otherwise. What they're saying And what about those dash cameras? Eidson says it's worth it. "The dash cam immediately notified my wife that I had been in a wreck and sent her a text message with the location as well as a link to the live feed," he said. "So yes, you should get a dash cam." Coweta County chase ends with PIT maneuver, 2 arrested
Two people were arrested Sunday after a car chase through Coweta County. The two were sought by Newnan Police Department on suspicion of felony shoplifting, Coweta County Sheriff's Office reported. A deputy spotted a vehicle, a red Audi as it was heading west on Highway 34 into the county from Peachtree City. Deputies said the driver responded by ignoring the emergency lights and siren. The driver sped up, going around cars and running red lights, according to the police report. Other officers helped box in the Audi, and the two suspects were arrested. Authorities said Jaimie Allen Hennessey, 33, and Mary Amber Rose Croft, 26, were taken to the hospital to ensure they weren't injured in the crash. The Coweta County Sheriff's Department says Hennessey faces charges for fleeing/attempting to elude police officer.
