Will London rain play spoilsport at Oval? What does India vs England 5th Test Day 5 weather forecast say?

Weather have played its part in the ongoing Test series between India and England. After halting the game at Edgbaston in Birmimgham, the rain gods once again came down in London at The Oval on Sunday to draw an early closure on Day 4 of the fifth Test with England just 35 runs to win with four wickets in hand. India hope for a miracle. The entire week in London has been cold. With a cloud cover of 88%, all eyes will be on the weather as 25th day of the India vs England Test series draws near. According to the temperature will hover around 20 degrees with cold breeze blowing throughout the day. There will be a couple of showers in the afternoon on August 4 (Monday). The website also stated that around 60% of rain is expected at 2 PM local time (6:30 PM IST) followed by another spell two hours later (around 8:30 PM IST). With just 35 runs needed, the match is likely to end in the first hour of play unless without any interruption. Chasing 374 runs to win, England was 339/6 at stumps on day four after bad light and rain forced an early end to play with the home side needing another 35 runs to win. Joe Root and Harry Brook were again England's savior on Sunday with 105 runs and 111 runs respectively, as England aimed to pull off another awe-inspiring run chase. Only 10 overs were completed after Tea. Wicketkeeper Jamie Smith (2 not out) and bowler Jamie Overton (0 not out) are at the crease. England have potentially only three wickets left because of allrounder Chris Woakes' shoulder injury. Woakes was seen in his cricket whites at the Oval on Sunday but with his left arm in a sling amid speculation he would come out at No. 11 if needed and bat one-handed. India quick Mohammed Siraj claimed 2/95 to make him the leading wicket-taker in the series with 20. India need three wickets to win potentially if Woakes doesn't come out to bat.

Earthquake of magnitude 4.5 jolts Tibet; third tremor in five days

An earthquake of magnitude 4.5 struck Tibet on Sunday, statement by the National Center for Seismology (NCS) said. As per the statement, the earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10km, making it susceptible to aftershocks. In a post on X, the NCS said, "EQ of M: 4.5, On: 03/08/2025 09:17:04 IST, Lat: 29.76 N, Long: 92.55 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Tibet." Earlier on July 30, two earthquakes struck Tibet. One being of 4.0, and the other being 4.3 magnitude on the Richter Scale. In a post on X, the NCS said, "EQ of M: 4.0, On: 30/07/2025 11:31:02 IST, Lat: 28.32 N, Long: 87.65 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Tibet." "EQ of M: 4.3, On: 30/07/2025 06:58:42 IST, Lat: 28.36 N, Long: 87.68 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Tibet." Shallow earthquakes are generally more dangerous than deep earthquakes. This is because the seismic waves from shallow earthquakes have a shorter distance to travel to the surface, resulting in stronger ground shaking and potentially more damage to structures and greater casualties. The Tibetan Plateau is known for its seismic activity due to tectonic plate collisions. Tibet and Nepal lie on a major geological fault line where the Indian tectonic plate pushes up into the Eurasian plate, and earthquakes are a regular occurrence as a result of it. The region is seismically active due to tectonic uplifts that can grow strong enough to change the heights of the Himalayas' peaks. Meanwhile, downpour in Tibet early on Wednesday morning triggered flood in rivers flowing in Nepal, prompting authorities to issue warning in three districts. The district of Rasuwa, adjoining the Tibetan side which was hit by a flash flood on July 8 had claimed seven lives with over a dozen still missing, after Lhende River swept infrastructure near Nepal-China border. Heavy rainfall in Tibet earlier this morning has triggered flooding in the Trishuli River, raising water levels in areas around Uttar Gaya in Rasuwa and the Trishuli 3B Hub in Kispang. Authorities have issued warnings as water flow continues to rise in the Rasuwagadhi area.

Synopsis Tibet experienced a 4.5 magnitude earthquake on Sunday, following two other quakes earlier in the week. The shallow depth of these earthquakes raises concerns about potential aftershocks and increased damage. The region's seismic activity is attributed to the collision of tectonic plates.
