Image via:|As NBA fans brace for the Dallas Mavericks to select Cooper Flagg with the No. 1 pick in Wednesday night's NBA Draft, the hype machine is already in overdrive. The 6-foot-9 Duke phenom has captivated the basketball world with his jaw-dropping skill set, earning comparisons to some of the game's greatest players.
But none have been as wild, or as viral, as Kendrick Perkins' now-infamous declaration live on ESPN.
Kendrick Perkins stirs the pot with an outlandish Cooper Flagg comparison with
LeBron James
and
Kevin Garnett
Perkins, a former NBA champion and now full-time hot-take machine for ESPN, lit up social media when he offered his explosive analogy during ESPN's pre-draft coverage. While many fans initially laughed it off, Perkins backed up his statement with sincere admiration.
'This is how I look at Cooper Flagg,' he said. 'If LeBron James and Kevin Garnett had a baby, you'd get Cooper Flagg.'
Moments later, he explained why the comparison may be less outlandish than it sounds.
'When you think about LeBron James, you think of a complete basketball player. He [Flagg] led the team in everything. That's a LeBron James type of thing,' Perkins continued. 'When you talk about his passion, his tenacity, I'm watching KG. He plays at a high level. We don't give players like Cooper Flagg enough credit. I think it's a skill to have a high motor like he has.'

His versatility was on full display during Flagg's lone season at Duke, where he averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game while leading the Blue Devils to a Final Four appearance. His rare two-way dominance earned him the honor of being the youngest-ever recipient of the Wooden Award.
Recently, Flagg shared his heartfelt gratitude for the people supporting him throughout his journey to the NBA. 'Yeah, I'm blessed that I have so much support from my state and people back home that support me so much,' Flagg shared. 'I'm just truly blessed and grateful for the people that show up, you know, the parties and celebrating my name."

Neymar signs for six more months with Santos with an eye on FIFA World Cup

File photo of Neymar in a Santos kit. (AP) Neymar on Tuesday extended his contract with Brazilian club Santos until the end of 2025, as he attempts to recapture his form in time for next year's World Cup. "I made a decision and I followed my heart. Santos is not just my team, it's my home, my roots, my history, and my life," the 33-year-old forward said in a statement from the club. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! Neymar started his career at Santos before moving to Barcelona and then Paris Saint-Germain. After an injury-hit spell in Saudi Arabia, he returned to Santos in January on a contract that was due to expire on June 30. The injury problems that restricted him to just seven matches in 17 months at Al-Hilal persisted. He has played 12 matches in five months across all competitions for Santos, scoring three goals. In his last appearance in the domestic league, he was sent off for a second yellow card after scoring with his hand against Botafogo. After 12 matches in this season's Brazilian championship, Santos are only clear of the relegation places on goal difference. Since his return to Brazil, Neymar has drawn criticism for partying at the Rio Carnival and for appearing in the gimmicky seven-a-side Kings League while nursing injuries. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like These Are The Most Beautiful Women In The World Undo Neymar is the Brazil national team's all-time leading scorer with 79 goals, two more than another Santos product, Pele, but his quest for a World Cup winner's medal has repeatedly ended in disappointment. Neymar was recalled to the Brazil squad in March for two World Cup qualifiers, but withdrew with a thigh injury. In May, new coach Carlo Ancelotti left Neymar out of his first squad. "I selected players who are in good shape. Neymar has just returned from injury, everyone knows he's a very important player and we're obviously counting on him," said Ancelotti. 'Think twice...': Ravi Shastri fires warning to Gautam Gambhir, Shubman Gill & Co on Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah with his captain Shubman Gill (Photo by) Former India head coach Ravi Shastri suggests India should reconsider resting Jasprit Bumrah for upcoming Tests against England in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series, following India's five-wicket defeat at Headingley where Bumrah took five wickets. The team's current plan, as stated by head coach Gautam Gambhir , is to have Bumrah play only three of the five Tests for workload management. Bumrah recorded match figures of 5-140 from 43.4 overs in the Headingley Test, with all his wickets coming in the first innings. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! "If he was looking at a rest, you may have to think twice. If you don't have him and then go 2-0 down it could be an uphill task," Shastri said on Sky Sports. India Outplayed at Headingley | England Go 1-0 Up in the Series | IND vs ENG 1st Test The other Indian seamers - Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna - struggled with combined figures of 9-482 in 92 overs, which might influence the decision to play Bumrah in the second Test at Edgbaston starting July 2. "This will be a tough pill for India to swallow. You don't get in positions like this very often and blow it from there. They had a chance to take England out of the contest and dictate terms," Shastri commented. "They have to learn and they need more bottle from the tail, for them to be stubborn and put a price tag on their wicket. There is a big role for the coaching staff to take the positives. Quiz: Who's that IPL player? Former England captain Nasser Hussain provided his assessment of Gill's captaincy and India's performance. "I saw someone finding his way. He didn't quite have that on-field aura of Rohit and (Virat Kohli). I thought he followed the ball a lot and was reactive rather than proactive. When Rohit and Kohli captained, you looked down and you immediately knew who was in charge but when I looked down in this game I saw two or three captains, captaincy by committee," Hussain observed. "But India lost from two things Gill couldn't control - drops and collapses. The collapses concern me. In India they have had spin-bowling all-rounders that are magnificent - Ravi Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel - but in England they are still looking for a seam-bowling all-rounder who can bat. If they keep going 6-31 and 7-41 this could be a quick series," he concluded. Game On Season 1 kicks off with Sakshi Malik's inspiring story. Watch Episode 1 here

IND vs ENG: 'It is going to sting' — Rishabh Pant reacts after heartbreaking loss at Headingley

Rishabh Pant of India (Photo by) Even as England pulled off a remarkable five-wicket win in the opening Test at Headingley, India's Rishabh Pant walked away with a record that will go down in history. In a bittersweet moment, Pant became the first Indian wicketkeeper to score centuries in both innings of a Test match, an extraordinary feat that stood out in an otherwise forgettable outing for India. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! Pant posted on X after the loss: "It is going to sting us for a while but we BELIEVE in bouncing back stronger." The message reflected both the pain and the resolve within the Indian camp after letting a golden opportunity slip away. Pant was India's heartbeat with the bat throughout the match. After scoring a fluent 134 in the first innings, the southpaw returned on Day 4 under immense pressure and counterattacked his way to 118 in the second, bringing up his second century of the match in just 130 balls. With this, he entered an elite club of Indian batters—Gavaskar, Dravid, Kohli, among others who've notched tons in both innings of a Test. More impressively, Pant became only the second wicketkeeper in Test historyafter Zimbabwe's Andy Flower in 2001—to achieve this feat. India Outplayed at Headingley | England Go 1-0 Up in the Series | IND vs ENG 1st Test His attacking style was once again on full display, particularly against young spinner Shoaib Bashir, whom Pant swept, reverse-swept, and charged at with unflinching intent. He also surpassed MS Dhoni to become the highest run-scoring Indian wicketkeeper in Tests on English soil. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Quiz: Who's that IPL player? India had posted 471 and 364, and set England a daunting target of 371. But Ben Duckett 's explosive 149, Root's calm 53*, and a late flourish from Jamie Smith proved too much. Despite the heartbreak, Pant's heroics gave India a fighting chance and reminded the world of his rising stature in the Test arena. Now with four Tests to go, India will look to bounce back, and if Pant's words and form are any indication, they'll do it with fire. Game On Season 1 kicks off with Sakshi Malik's inspiring story.
