Blackpink to drop new album this year, label says
Details on group's comeback will be shared at a later time through official promotion. — Photo: YG Entertainment K-pop juggernaut Blackpink will be releasing a new album later this year. "Details on the group's comeback and the upcoming album will be released at a later time through our official promotions," a senior official at YG Entertainment told The Korea Herald on Monday. "The plan for the album release keeps changing, so there is not much we can say at this point," the official added, declining to comment further. Rumors about the band's highly anticipated return surfaced earlier in the day after a local media outlet reported that the K-pop act is gearing up for a November comeback. Reports added that the girl group has already completed the cover shoot for the album and plans to finish recording the new songs. After the album's release, Blackpink is also expected to appear on music shows to promote the album. When it is released, it will mark the group's first album in three years. The group's second full-length album, Born Pink , came out in September 2022, just before Blackpink embarked on a world tour. In July, the girl group dropped the digital single Jump , which is a hard techno genre track co-produced and co-written by Diplo. Featuring guitar riffs reminiscent of Western films, Jump showcases the quartet's distinct vocals. Soon after its release, Jump topped Spotify's weekly top songs global chart, marking the group's second time capturing the highest spot on the list, following Shut Down , the lead track from its second full album. Currently, Blackpink is on a world tour under the banner of Deadline , which kicked off in Korea on July 5. The group will take a two-month break after a show in London on Saturday, then return to the stage on Oct 18 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. — The Korea Herald/Asia News Network

HUNTR/X Becomes First Girl Group To Hit #1 On Billboard Hot 100 Since Destiny's Child
'K-pop Demon Hunters' is still fresh in many people's minds—and so is its music. Nearly two months after release, the film's soundtrack has remained at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 Soundtracks chart for seven consecutive weeks, solidifying its place not just as a film score but as a major force in the music industry. Only a month ago, Saja Boys' 'Your Idol' landed at #77 on the Hot 100, and now it's the girls' time to shine. The ongoing success of the movie's soundtrack shows it's more than just a film companion—it's a force with momentum that isn't slowing down anytime soon. 'Golden' is one of the most recognisable songs from the fictional girl group HUNTRI/X, second only to the explosive opener 'Takedown.' The second track featured in the film reveals a more personal, emotional side of the characters before their transformation into demon hunters. Its lyrical vulnerability and cinematic sound have resonated deeply with audiences, helping the song gain traction beyond the film. On 11th August (Monday), Billboard announced that 'Golden' had officially hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. A big milestone as it's the first time in nearly 24 years that a girl group has topped the chart, with Destiny's Child's 'Bootylicious' being the last to do so in 2001. 'Golden' also becomes the ninth K-pop-associated track to reach the #1 spot—an impressive feat for a fictional group born from an animated feature. Additionally, it's also the first time since Disney's 'We Don't Talk About Bruno' from 'Encanto' (2021) that a song from a fictional or animated background has reached the top of the chart. With 'Golden,' 'K-pop Demon Hunters' becomes the first non-Disney animated film to accomplish such a feat, cementing two historic milestones in one release. More than just a chart victory, this marks a shift in how audiences engage with storytelling, music, and fandom. 'K-pop Demon Hunters' has blurred the lines between fiction and reality, showing that a fictional girl group can move real-world charts and hearts. With fans treating HUNTRI/X like a real idol group, 'Golden' has become more than a song—it's a cultural moment. (Video) SEVENTEEN's S.Coups Receives Praise For Speaking Up On Ticket Scalper Issue
Ticket scalping is a problem that affects music fans globally. While some countries and companies have announced plans to tackle the problem, fans are still left to deal with the effects, including strict verification procedures and sky-high prices. One of the industries most affected by ticket scalpers is the K-pop music scene, since there is a demand for K-pop concerts. Sadly, most groups don't talk about the issue, choosing to remain silent despite the constant complaints. However, SEVENTEEN (세븐틴) leader (에스쿱스) recently touched on the topic during a recent live broadcast. His comment, while brief, prompted praise from fans and netizens alike. On Monday (11th August 2025), the rapper held a live broadcast on Weverse. As the date of the broadcast coincided with the ticket sale for SEVENTEEN's upcoming concert in Incheon, many of the comments were about ticketing. Some fans expressed frustration about the ticketing process and the rise of scalpers and bots. Others also lamented that companies require identity verification for tickets, sparking privacy concerns. Touching on the subject, said, 'This is something I've always wanted to say, but whether it turns out this way or that way, if we can't catch the resellers, then what's the point of having identity verification? Let's get rid of it. Please get rid of it.' The idol was calling out ticketing companies to stop scalpers instead of simply employing identity verification, arguing that it doesn't fix the ongoing issue. The clip was also posted on social media, where it gained more comments from netizens. Most agreed with arguing that companies should tackle the scalping and bot issues instead of infringing on fans' privacy. Some also mentioned how the identity verification process can still fail fans, but rarely affect scalpers. Many also praised him for speaking up about the issue, especially since there were staff members in the room. Kudos to for speaking up on this issue. Hopefully, this can inspire other artists to speak up as well and pressure ticketing companies to take action. Here's a clip from broadcast: Sources: Twitter, Theqoo
