Smallest Gulf Oil Producer Seeks LNG Imports Amid Ample Supply
Bapco Energies this month received an LNG cargo after restarting a floating import terminal and is expecting another in June, Chief Executive Officer Mark Thomas said. The company has already awarded a tender for supplies of the fuel in June and July and could seek more cargoes for later in the year, he said, without naming the seller.

Cheniere's Q2 Earnings Soar by 85% as LNG Demand and Prices Rise
Cheniere Energy (NYSE: LNG), the biggest U.S. LNG exporter, booked an 85% higher net income for the second quarter from a year earlier amid strong demand for LNG and higher price margins of LNG cargoes delivered in 2025. Cheniere reported on Thursday a net income $1.63 billion for the second quarter, an 85% surge from the $880 million income for the same period last year. Total revenues jumped by 43% to $4.64 billion, of which $4.5 billion was LNG revenues. Cheniere also announced it achieved this month substantial completion of Train 2 of the Stage 3 expansion of the Corpus Christi LNG terminal near Corpus Christi, Texas. The expansion consist of seven midscale Trains with an expected total production capacity of over 10 mtpa of LNG, including approximately 3 mtpa in operation and more than 7 mtpa under construction, Cheniere said. 'For the remainder of the year, we are focused on growing our brownfield platform, bringing online new capacity at Corpus Christi ahead of schedule and on budget, and delivering results within our upwardly revised guidance ranges,' Cheniere's president and CEO Jack Fusco said. The top U.S. LNG exporter and other project developers of liquefied natural gas export facilities in the United States, the world's largest LNG exporter, have benefited from strong international LNG demand and a substantial reversal of domestic policies, which favor American oil and gas projects and exports under President Donald Trump. U.S. LNG exports have increased every year since 2016, rising from 0.5 Bcf/d in 2016 to 11.9 Bcf/d in 2024, making the United States the world's largest LNG exporter in 2023 and 2024. EIA expects U.S. LNG exports to continue growing, driven by the start-up of Plaquemines LNG, Corpus Christi LNG Stage 3, and Golden Pass LNG. U.S. LNG exporters are also expected to benefit from the pledges of the EU and other trade partners to buy more American energy as part of bilateral trade deals with the United States. NewMed signs $35bn natural gas supply deal with Egypt's Blue Ocean Energy
NewMed Energy, alongside partners in the Leviathan project, has signed an agreement for the sale of natural gas from the Leviathan reservoir to Egypt. The contract, signed with Blue Ocean Energy, an existing customer of Leviathan, is valued at approximately $35bn (Dh128.54bn) and involves the transfer of around 130 billion cubic metres (bcm) or 4.59 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. This deal represents the most significant export transaction in Israel's history and underscores the strategic importance of the Leviathan gas field since its discovery. The gas sales to Egypt are projected to continue until 2040 or until the agreed quantities are fully supplied. Production and export to Egypt began in January 2020, with current supplies totalling approximately 60bcm under contract, and an annual volume of 4.5bcm, plus additional spot sales. NewMed Energy CEO Yossi Abu said: 'This is the most strategically important export deal to ever occur in the eastern Mediterranean and strengthens Egypt's position as the most significant hub in the region. 'Since it begun production, Leviathan has brought many benefits both domestically and internationally, and the reservoir's expansion has been NewMed's key priority for years. This deal, made possible by our strong regional partnerships, will unlock further regional export opportunities, once again proving that natural gas and the wider energy industry can be an anchor for collaboration.' The existing export agreement with Egypt, established in 2019, will be superseded by this new arrangement upon completion of the contracted 60bcm, expected in the early 2030s. To date, around 23.5bcm of natural gas has been sold from Leviathan to the Egyptian market. The new deal is structured in two stages, with the first concerning the sale of 20bcm and the second the sale of an additional 110bcm. The latter is contingent upon the completion of the Leviathan expansion project and the construction of a new pipeline to Egypt via Nitzana. The first stage is set to commence in the first half of 2026, following the completion of a third pipeline to the production platform and the Ashdod-Ashkelon transmission pipeline, increasing annual sales to Egypt by 2bcm. The second stage will begin after the Leviathan expansion project's completion, which is expected to boost Israel's natural gas production by 30% and increase the reservoir's annual production capacity to approximately 21bcm. Total gas exports for the second stage are estimated at 110bcm, with annual variations, culminating in a total annual quantity of roughly 12bcm from Leviathan to Egypt. The pricing of the natural gas is primarily linked to Brent oil prices, and the total sale is expected to generate around $35bn in revenue for all partners involved in the reservoir. The finalisation of this deal is a critical step towards the final investment decision for the Leviathan expansion project (phase 1B), which includes drilling additional wells, expanding subsea systems, upgrading processing facilities and potentially laying a fourth pipeline. Enterprise Products Partners to buy Occidental's Midland Basin affiliate
Enterprise Products Partners' affiliates have executed an agreement to acquire a natural gas-gathering affiliate from Occidental. The acquisition includes a long-term dedication of approximately 73,000 acres across four counties in the Midland Basin, with assets comprising around 200 miles (321.8km) of natural gas-gathering pipelines. The pipelines support Occidental's production activities and offer Enterprise more than 1,000 drillable locations, providing long-term development visibility and an immediate expansion of its natural gas-gathering footprint. The $580m debt-free cash deal will also see Enterprise Products build the new Athena natural gas processing plant, enhancing its processing capacity in the region. The Athena plant, which is expected to start service in the fourth quarter of 2026 (Q4 2026), will have the capacity to process 300 million cubic feet per day (mcf/d) of natural gas and extract up to 40,000 barrels per day (bpd) of natural gas liquids (NGLs). Upon completion, Enterprise's Midland Basin assets will be capable of processing 2.2 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas and extracting 310,000bpd of NGLs. Enterprise's general partner co-CEO A.J. Teague said: 'These agreements with Occidental are consistent with Enterprise's focus on expanding our Midland Basin franchise through organic investments in our midstream network and through targeted acquisitions that bolt-on to our existing infrastructure. 'To accommodate production growth in this area of the basin, Enterprise will build its ninth Midland Basin natural gas processing plant and expand its natural gas-gathering system. The Permian Basin is responsible for approximately 90% of domestic liquid hydrocarbons growth and our continued investment in natural gas processing infrastructure supports Enterprise's producer customers and brings additional volume into the company's integrated natural gas liquids value chain.' The strategic investments in the Athena plant and expansions of Enterprise's Midland Basin gathering system are part of the company's estimated growth capital expenditures of $4bn–4.5bn for 2025 and $2.2bn–2.5bn for 2026. The deal is subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected to close in Q3 2025. In February 2025, Occidental also agreed to divest certain upstream assets for a combined value of $1.2bn. These assets included non-operated assets in the Rockies and select Permian Basin assets not included in Occidental's immediate development plans.
