HC sets aside notice to shut down madrassas
Lucknow, Aug 21 (PTI) The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court on Thursday set aside the notices issued to several madrassas in Shrawasti district for closing down the institutes.
The bench, however, granted liberty to the state to issue fresh notices in accordance with law.
Justice Pankaj Bhatia disposed of the petitions filed by Madarsa Moinul Islam Qasmiya Samiti and other madarssas separately.
The court on June 5 passed an interim order staying these notices.
The order considered the plea of the petitioners which said before asking the madarssas to close down, no notices were served on them.
It was also placed before the bench that notices were issued without application of mind as all notices contained the same number.
'The state authorities have taken action against the madarsas without affording them any opportunity to make their submissions and hence the state action is entirely illegal and mala-fide," the petitioners said.
Opposing the pleas, the state stressed the action was taken under Uttar Pradesh Non-Governmental Arabic and Persian Madarsa Recognition, Administration and Services Regulations, 2016 and there was no illegality in the state action.
Considering the notices were defective and no adequate opportunity was granted to the madarssas before taking action against them, the bench set aside the notices with liberty to the state to pass fresh order. PTI COR KIS AMK AMK

Others Got 2 Laddoos, I Got One: MP Man Files Complaint With CM Helpline
Last Updated: A man filed a complaint for receiving one laddoo instead of two on Independence Day. It is his 107th complaint with the CM Helpline. Of all the problems that people register with the CM helpline, a man registered his grievance of getting just one laddoo during the Independence Day celebration. Sounds bizarre? A little, yes, but his complaint was entertained and and the authorities sent one kilogram laddoos for further distribution. As per the officials, the complainant, Kamlesh Kushwaha, was aggrieved as he did not get the customary two laddoos during the Independence Day event in Naudha village. He filed the complaint against the sarpanch and secretary. On August 15, the flag-hoisting ceremony at the Gram Panchayat Bhavan was held and it was attended by the sarpanch, local representatives, the secretary, the peon, and several villagers. As per the custom, after the flag hoisting, laddoos are distributed. Two laddoos for one person, but Kushwaha only received one and asked for another laddoo. When refused, he filed a complaint. After his complaint with the CM helpline, 1 kilogram laddoos were sent, but Kushwaha refused to accept it, said panchayat secretary Ravindra Shrivastava. This was Kushwaha's 107th complaint with the CM helpline. Shrivastava added that he is habitual of complaining for any and every issue. 'Kushwaha is in the habit of doing such things. He has so far filed 107 complaints with the CM Helpline on various issues," Shrivastava said. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Delhi CM to resume official engagements from Friday
The chief minister was assaulted by a 41-year-old man from Rajkot, identified as Rajeshbhai Khimji, during a 'Jan Sunwai' session at her camp office. Gupta, who has been staying in her official residence in Civil Lines since the attack on Wednesday morning, is also likely to return to her office at the Delhi Secretariat, the officials added further. New Delhi, Aug 21 (PTI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who was confined to her residence after the attack on her, is likely to resume her official engagements from Friday, officials said. The accused was arrested, and a case under various charges, including attempt to murder, was registered against him. The officials at the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) stated that Gupta will attend an event, 'Vastrika', at the garment hub of Delhi, Gandhi Nagar, at 11.30 am on Friday. She will also attend the grand finale of 'Ideathon', an event by the industries department, at the Ashok Hotel in Chanakyapuri at 4 pm, they added. Earlier in the day, Gupta asserted that her 'Jan Sunwai' programme will be held in every assembly constituency and will not be restricted to her residence only. Stressing that every moment of her life is dedicated to Delhi, she said, 'Despite all these unexpected blows, I will never abandon Delhi.' Recalling her father's teachings, she noted that women possess double the strength to overcome difficulties and must endure countless tests to prove themselves. 'I am ready too,' she emphasised.
