New Delhi [India], May 4 (ANI): Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Sunday inaugurated the Omni Legend Digital PET-CT advanced medical imaging system and a pathology lab at Mahajan Imaging & Labs.
Speaking to mediapersons, Union Minister Singh said stressed the growing importance of preventive healthcare, saying that it is not just the duty of medical professionals but a national responsibility.
'I must congratulate Dr Harsh Mahajan on this new addition to the Mahajan Imaging and Labs facility, which is now available in the national capital and, of course, in the township of Gurugram. Considering that today the entire emphasis is on preventive health care, which is not solely the responsibility of medical professionals, I believe it is more of a national responsibility, especially in the context of Prime Minister Modi's reminders,'
Speaking to ANI, founder of Mahajan Imaging, Dr Harsh Mahajan, said that the Omni Legend PET-CT machine is fully digital and empowered with artificial intelligence and can detect even the smallest issues in the body.
'The Omni Legend PET-CT machine is fully digital and empowered with artificial intelligence. Because of this, it can detect even the smallest issues in the body. If cancer is developing anywhere, this machine can pick it up. There is a parameter called spatial resolution. The spatial resolution of this machine is 1.4 millimetres, whereas other machines currently have a spatial resolution of three to four millimetres. Lower spatial resolution allows for a much more detailed view, making it possible to detect even the smallest abnormalities and understand the extent of disease spread in the body,' Mahajan said.
Dr Mahajan added that the machine uses a much lower radiation dose and operates at a very high speed, completing scanning quickly.
'Additionally, since this machine is fully digital, it uses a much lower radiation dose. This is beneficial for patients as radiation exposure is almost halved. The machine also operates at a very high speed, completing scanning quickly. This improves patient cooperation and convenience,' he said. (ANI)

India emerging as global education hub amid stricter foreign admissions, visa challenges

New Delhi [India], August 10 (ANI): As global universities tighten their admission policies and visa challenges grow, India is rising as a global education hub, prompting many students to rethink their study-abroad plans, according to several top officials of educational institutions. Top officials of many eminent educational institutions said that initiatives such as e-Student and e-Student-X visas are making it easier for international learners to access Indian educational institutions. Speaking on the trend, Amruta Ruikar, Head of International Admissions and Promotions, Symbiosis International University, said, "India is not just reforming education - we're reimagining our role in the global academic community. With the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 as our foundation, we're opening pathways for joint degrees, credit transfers, and cross-border collaborations." "Programs like Study in India, ICCR scholarships, and GIAN reflect a clear intent: to make India a destination, not just a departure point, for quality education. New steps like the e-Student and e-Student-X visas are making it easier for international learners to access our institutions. But beyond policies, what truly sets us apart is our willingness to welcome, especially students from regions facing economic or political uncertainty," she further added. Experts further added that the Indian institutions are stepping in with an alternative that combines globally benchmarked curricula, interdisciplinary programs and rich international exposure. Dr Yajulu Medury, Vice Chancellor of Mahindra University, said, "If Indian higher education is to compete with the world's best, we must go beyond traditional metrics and reimagine student experience. That means investing not just in infrastructure or curriculum, but in nurturing interdisciplinary thinking, global partnerships, and cultural agility. At Mahindra University, we've already partnered with prestigious institutions such as Virginia Tech, CentraleSupelec, and Babson College, among others." Going further, the education experts suggested that to continue this trend, India will need continuous structural reform in the education sector. "The scope for Indian universities to lead global academic innovation is growing, but it must be backed by continuous structural reform", said Dr Kannan, Director, SRM Group of Institutions, Ramapuram and Tiruchirappalli. "We need sustained public and private investments in digital learning, research, and student life, alongside policies that support academic autonomy and international mobility. At SRMIST Trichy, we've signed MoUs with reputed bodies like the Officers Training Academy (OTA), ICAR-NRCB, and L&T EduTech, which promote joint research, faculty exchange, and advanced skill development. Many Indian universities now hold Institution of Eminence (IoE) status, which includes structured partnerships with foreign universities, further strengthening India's global education appeal", he further added. The experts highlighted that initiatives like the Study in India portal and financial aid for foreign students have simplified access while setting the tone for a more integrated and inclusive system. They said that by scaling up, raising academic excellence, and building robust global partnerships, Indian universities are now emerging as strong contenders, giving tough competition to their global counterparts. According to a recent report by rating agency ICRA, India's higher education institutions are expected to record a revenue growth of 9-11 per cent in FY2026, driven by expanding seat capacities, rising enrolments and the introduction of new courses. Kerala MP Kodikunnil Suresh slams Centre for denying AIIMS to State

Kodikunnil Suresh, MP, has expressed strong dissatisfaction over the Union government's 'continued neglect' in approving an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for Kerala. In a statement issued here on Sunday (August 10, 2025), Mr. Suresh said the State was in urgent need of advanced tertiary healthcare facilities. The Mavelikara MP said he had raised a question in the Lok Sabha on August 8, seeking details from the Centre regarding the steps taken to establish an AIIMS in Kerala, the locations proposed by the State, and any feasibility studies conducted for central or southern Kerala. 'The Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav informed the House that Kerala had proposed four sites for AIIMS at Kinaloor in Kozhikode, Kattakada in Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam and Ernakulam. However, the Minister admitted that none of these proposals have been approved in the current phase of the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY),' Mr. Suresh said. He said that while the government had sanctioned super-speciality blocks at Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College Hospital (MCH), Alappuzha MCH, Kozhikode MCH, and Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, these measures were no substitute for a full-fledged AIIMS. 'It is deeply disappointing that Kerala, with its exceptional health indicators, dense population, and strategic importance, remains one of the few States without an AIIMS. The Centre must end this neglect and include Kerala in the next phase of AIIMS expansion without delay. Our people deserve direct access to world-class medical education and advanced healthcare within the State,' Mr. Suresh said. He urged the Union government to prioritise Kerala in AIIMS allotment, pointing out that such an institute would significantly reduce patient migration, relieve the burden on existing hospitals, and strengthen medical research in the State.
