
Couple tragically killed in Batu Pahat trailer collision
PETALING JAYA: A married couple tragically lost their lives after their vehicle collided with the rear of a trailer at a traffic light intersection on Jalan Bindu, Tongkang Pechah, Johor yesterday morning.
Batu Pahat district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani, reported that the incident occurred at 9.30am, Buletin TV3 reported.
The victims were identified as Mazalan Balia, 69, and his wife, Radin Pauziyah Radin Ahmad, 75.
Mazalan passed away at noon due to internal injuries, followed by his wife at 1.45pm due to severe injuries on her head, rib, and right leg.
Investigations revealed that the trailer, driven by a 44-year-old man, had stopped at the traffic light intersection when the couple's car collided with its rear.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous driving causing death.

Another motorcycle, trailing behind, was unable to avoid the collision and crashed into the first bike. "In the crash, two motorcyclists and one pillion rider died at the scene, while another individual was injured. The car's driver and passengers were unharmed," she said. She said that the bodies of the three victims, all 19, were sent to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) for post-mortem. "The injured victim was sent to the same hospital for treatment. The driver of the car has been detained for further investigation, and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. ALOR SETAR: A day that was supposed to bring joy in anticipation of Hari Raya Aidiladha turned into a tragedy when three students from the National Youth Skills Institute (IKBN) in Jitra were killed in an accident at KM49.4 of the North-South Expressway, heading south from Alor Setar, on Thursday (June 5), Sinar Harian reports. The Malay language daily reported that in the 2,10pm incident, all the victims were on two motorcycles, travelling back to their respective hometowns to celebrate Hari Raya Aidiladha. All the victims, aged 19, are believed to have collided with an multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) before the fatal accident occurred. The deceased have been identified as Muhamad Habil Mohd Sobri from Gurun; Muhammad Fahmi Jam from Jeniang, Sik; and Muhamad Arif Aifan Derani from Bukit Selambau, Sungai Petani. Another friend sustained serious injuries due to the collision.
