Eater applauds Graeter's Skyline ice cream, says Travis Kelce can 'eat his words'

Travis Kelce was totally wrong for dissing Graeter's Skyline Chili-flavored ice cream, according to a national dining reporter.
Amy McCarthy, a reporter for Eater, the national food and dining brand owned by Vox Media, admitted she was unsure about the new collaboration between the two Cincinnati brands, but ultimately gave a glowing review. She dubbed the treat "a dose of comforting nostalgia for a lifelong Cincinnatian" and "a fun way to introduce a total stranger to the magic of Skyline chili."
"In the ice cream, I tasted allspice, nutmeg, and cinnamon, maybe a little clove. That combo is, of course, also extremely popular in desserts and baked goods, and it makes total sense in a pint of ice cream," she wrote, noting there isn't actual chili in the treat.
The Dallas-based food reporter identified a "quite pleasant" savory taste in the ice cream that keeps the treat from tasting too much like eggnog or cinnamon rolls. She also applauded the brands' use of the classic Skyline oyster crackers for a hint of saltiness that "somehow remained crispy despite being smothered in cream and frozen."
McCarthy's review, published Wednesday, went on to criticize Kelce, a University of Cincinnati Bearcats alum, for writing off the Greater's/Skyline collab as "disgusting" in his "New Heights" podcast Wednesday.
"Perhaps if the Chiefs win their record third consecutive Super Bowl, Travis Kelce ... will also be ready to eat his words and celebrate with a nice, cool bowl of Skyline chili ice cream," McCarthy wrote.
The star Kansas City Chiefs tight end, who is a documented Cincinnati-style chili hater, said in Wednesday's podcast episode that there was no chance he would try the flavor. Meanwhile, his older brother, Jason Kelce, the retired Philadelphia Eagles great and fellow UC alum, said he's, "a sucker for these stupid new food item things," name checking Taco Bell's Doritos Locos Taco.
According to McCarthy, though, Graeter's Skyline Spice ice cream sets itself apart from other brand collaborations.
"There's a sense with a lot of these 'brand collabs' that they're just marketing stunts ... but that's not the case here."
Skyline Spice is currently available in 5-ounce scoops at all Skyline restaurants. It is also available to purchase by the pint or by the scoop at all Graeter's scoop shops and by the pint at select Kroger stores throughout Cincinnati, Columbus, Indianapolis and Louisville.
Availability may vary by location, though, so it's always best to call your local store and/or restaurant ahead of time.
The new flavor is also available nationwide through Graeters.com.

NFL Reporter Laura Rutledge Reacts to Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift News on Monday

NFL Reporter Laura Rutledge Reacts to Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift News on Monday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The NFL preseason is fully underway, but off the field, news broke on Monday that had everything to do with one of the game's best tight ends of one of the best teams in the league. Travis Kelce, the star tight end of the Kansas City Chiefs, will finally have his girlfriend, pop star Taylor Swift, on his "New Heights" podcast after months of fans' demand. The two have one of the most high-profile relationships, not just in the NFL but in all of sports and entertainment, even though some football fans find the attention it has attracted annoying. Kelce and Swift recently announced that the pop superstar will make an appearance by posting a teaser video on Instagram. NFL reporter Terry Rutledge couldn't contain her excitement over the news. 'OMGGGGGGGGGG,' Rutledge commented on Instagram. Rutledge Has Become a Big Figure in Sports Journalism In recent years, more and more women have been dominating sports reporting, and Rutledge has been all over the place when it comes to football. She started as a sideline reporter for Fox Sports, covering the network's broadcast of Tampa Bay Rays games and subsequently San Diego Padres contests. In 2013, she hosted "Chargers Insider," a show covering the then-San Diego Chargers. A year later, Rutledge started hosting halftime and postgame shows for Fox's coverage of college football. She became the host of the SEC Network's "SEC Nation" in 2017, and in 2020, she started hosting "NFL Live" on ESPN. Kelce and Swift Are the NFL's Resident Celebrity Couple The relationship between Kelce and Swift reportedly began in the summer of 2023, when Kelce shared during an episode of "New Heights" that he tried to give Swift a friendship bracelet, but he also clarified it didn't lead to anything then. Early in the 2023 season, he said on "The Pat McAfee Show" that he invited Swift to a Chiefs game. She then attended their Week 3 home contest against the Chicago Bears, and the two were seen riding off in Kelce's convertible afterward. The following week, Swift was at MetLife Stadium when Kansas City visited the New York Jets. Things snowballed from there, and before long, the two were confirmed to be dating. Plenty of football fans have complained about the attention Swift has gotten during telecasts of Chiefs games, which included camera shots of her sitting in the luxury suite at Arrowhead Stadium. But she has apparently brought in more fans and higher ratings for the NFL, which isn't exactly a bad thing. The Chiefs went on to win their third Super Bowl championship in five years by escaping the San Francisco 49ers at the end of the 2023 season. They lost decisively in last season's big game to the Philadelphia Eagles, and with plenty counting them out for 2025, they could end up having a chip on their shoulders once Week 1 story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Aug 12, 2025, where it first appeared.

WATCH: Cowboys star penalized for bizarre sideline collision; referee explains

It's the preseason for everybody, apparently. In the exhibition opener for the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday at SoFi Stadium against the Los Angeles Rams, star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb was never going to play, but his impact was felt in the first half, figuratively and literally. While walking on the sideline, Lamb watched with his hands in the air as quarterback Joe Milton III threw a deep ball to wide receiver Jonathan Mingo with his back to an oncoming official. The official, not seeing Lamb in front of him, ran into the Cowboys receiver's back at full speed, sending both tumbling to the ground. Lamb was penalized for 'a foul on an official,' which offset a defensive pass interference call on the throw to Mingo. The veteran receiver popped up after the hit and shared a laugh with his teammates on the sideline. The official, Anthony Jeffries, was also not injured and remained in the game. 'It's a sideline interference,' referee Alex Moore said after the game. 'CeeDee Lamb was standing in the restricted white border area, which is our area to officiate the game. The official on the play was focused solely on doing his job and he ran into CeeDee Lamb, who was standing in that restricted area.' The Cowboys would end up scoring their first points of the preseason on that drive courtesy of a 35-yard Brandon Aubrey field goal to cut their first-half deficit to 14-3. According to the officials, the Cowboys were understanding of the call. 'It's something that everybody is aware of,' Moore said. 'That white area is our area to work safely. ... It's more of a rare situation. Normally, we don't have anybody standing that deep into the restricted area, or that type of forceful contact.' Lamb is one of many starters not expected to play in the preseason, as head coach Brian Schottenheimer resorts to a physical training camp in nearby Oxnard, California, to prepare his veterans for the team's Week 1 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sept. 4.

Luka Doncic Says He'd Choose Dirk Nowitzki's Fadeaway As His Dream Signature Move

Luka Doncic Says He'd Choose Dirk Nowitzki's Fadeaway As His Dream Signature Move originally appeared on Fadeaway World. Luka Doncic is carving out his own legacy on the Lakers, but when it comes to signature moves, he's still paying homage to the legend who came before him. During a recent appearance on Bilibili, Doncic was asked which iconic move from another NBA player he would most want in his arsenal. His answer was quick, respectful, and invoked some heavy emotions from the Mavericks fans who detest his departure. 'I would take the Dirk Nowitzki fadeaway as a signature move,' Doncic said. It's a fitting tribute to Nowitzki, whose one-legged fadeaway helped define a generation and led the Mavericks to their first NBA title in 2011. According to Dirk, the move originated out of necessity as he got older and his legs began to wear down. As he was losing strength and mobility, Dirk was determined to create a move that he could use to shoot over defenders and conserve energy as his athleticism declined. Nowitzki, being 7'0" tall, decided to use his height to his advantage, and it's how he came up with the idea to do his signature one-legged fadeaway. Besides being a beautiful shot, it was also very effective. When he pulled it off properly, nobody could get a hand on the ball, effectively ensuring that it would at least make contact with the rim. It helped Dirk build an iconic NBA career as a 14x All-Star, 12x All-NBA player, 1x champion, and former Finals MVP. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2023 with career averages of 20.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game over 21 years. For Luka, incorporating Dirk's go-to move into his arsenal would only enhance his game, but their connection is more than purely professional. For the first six and a half years of his career, Luka Doncic was Dirk's successor, and Dirk was his mentor. In just a few short years in Dallas, Doncic ascended to legendary status for the Mavericks with multiple All-Star appearances, frequent MVP considerations, and averages of 28.6 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 8.3 assists per game on 47.0% shooting. He developed a personal connection with not only the city of Dallas but also Dirk Nowitzki himself. Dirk passed Luka the torch, hoping he'd lead them back to glory. Sadly, the Slovenian superstar never got the chance to see it through. Without warning, the Mavericks traded him in a blockbuster deal to Los Angeles, and everything changed in one fell swoop. While separated, Dirk continued to support Luka and was even in attendance during his Lakers debut. Now with the Lakers, Luka is on a revenge tour, out to prove Dallas made a mistake letting him go. Whatever happens, Dirk will be watching and cheering him on as if he never left Dallas in the first place. Whether he's wearing a Mavericks jersey or a Lakers uniform, Luka Doncic's story is forever linked to Dirk Nowitzki. From signature moves to shared history, their bond represents the passing of the torch between generations of European greatness. Now, as Luka writes the next chapter of his career in Los Angeles, he'll carry a piece of Dirk with him in the way he approaches the moment. Even from afar, Dirk will still be there, watching as the player he once mentored tries to build his own legend, one step at a story was originally reported by Fadeaway World on Aug 15, 2025, where it first appeared.
