The 911th Airlift Wing will conduct a series of flyovers on Memorial Day across the Pittsburgh area, honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
The 911th Airlift Wing is scheduled to conduct C-17 Globemaster III flyovers starting at 10:45 a.m. Monday. People in multiple communities should be prepared to hear and see low-flying aircraft.
The airlift wing says each flyover is part of the Air Force Reserve's mission to "honor fallen service members, demonstrate the capabilities of the force, and inspire patriotism across the nation."

Community members are invited to "observe the flyovers in solemn remembrance of all those who have given their lives in service to the United States."
Where will the flyovers happen?
The flyovers will happen at several cemeteries as part of the Bethel Park, South Hills, Zelienople and Irwin Memorial Day parades. They'll also fly over Richmond Township Community Park, Anderson Field in Shaler Township and Breckenridge Park.
The 911th Airlift Wing says the events are part of training that's already scheduled and they don't come at an additional cost to taxpayers.
The 911th Airlift Wing, located at the Pittsburgh International Airport, provides "mission-ready C-17 airlift, aeromedical evacuation, and agile combat support," according to its website. It has about 1,220 Air Force Reserve members and employs around 250 Department of Defense civilians.

The Justice Department's move came two days after a trans girl won championships in two girls' events at the California state track and field meet, and less than a week after President Trump decried her inclusion in the competition, saying that he would cut federal funding to the state if it let her participate. At the meet, held over two days in Clovis, Calif., the trans girl, AB Hernandez, won the girls' high jump and triple jump, and also finished second in the long jump for Jurupa Valley High School, in what is arguably the most competitive high school meet in the nation. Christian Yelich's homer powers Brewers to 8th straight win, beating Reds 3-2
CINCINNATI (AP) — Christian Yelich hit his fourth home run in six games and the Milwaukee Brewers extended their winning streak to eight games, beating the Cincinnati Reds 3-2 Monday night. Yelich — named the National League Player of the Week earlier in the day — connected on a full-count slider from Brady Singer (6-4) and drove it 417 feet to straightaway center and off the batter's eye to put Milwaukee on top in the third inning. Sal Frelick had a pair of hits for the Brewers, who have their longest winning streak since running off nine straight in August 2023. Aaron Civale (1-1) picked up his first win of the season in his third start since missing nearly two months due to a strained left hamstring. The right-hander, who went 5 1/3 innings, rebounded after allowing two runs in the first and struck out five. MIAMI (AP) — Hunter Goodman homered twice, including a go-ahead two-run shot in the fifth inning, and the Colorado Rockies beat the Miami Marlins 6-4 on Monday night to snap their fourth eight-game losing streak of the season. It was the 10th win against 50 losses for the Rockies, who had already wrapped up the worst 60-game start in the modern era (since 1901). The 1904 Washington Senators and 1932 Boston Red Sox both opened 11-49. Goodman had a two-out single in the first off Max Meyer, and Thairo Estrada followed with an RBI double to give Colorado the lead. Goodman was charged with an error in the bottom half when he dropped a throw at home plate, allowing the tying run to score.
