Joshua Jackson Says Daughter Juno, 5, Had a Few Key Suggestions for Rebuilding Their House After It Burned in L.A. Fires
Joshua Jackson's daughter had some ideas about what to add to their house when they rebuild it
The actor's childhood home, in which he lived with his daughter Juno, 5, burned down in the Los Angeles fires
Jackson shares his daughter with ex-wife Jodie Turner-SmithJoshua Jackson's daughter had some suggestions for rebuilding their home after it burned down during the Los Angeles fires.
The actor, 46, appeared on Today on Tuesday, May 27, and spoke about how he lost his childhood home during the fires in Los Angeles earlier this year. Jackson said that it was "not easy" and that the first six weeks were a "scramble," but noted that his daughter Juno, 5, was particularly resilient in the face of the disaster.
"It just so happened that the day of a fire was a transfer day, so I drop her off at school, her mom picks her up, which was a blessing because it meant I had six days to kind of get it together, figure out a place for us to live, get the house restocked, get our feet on the ground," Jackson shared. "But it also meant that for six days, she didn't know her house burnt down."

"So when she comes back, I sit her down and tell her, 'Honey, I've got some bad news. The house burned down.' She starts to cry, which is good, right? She's processing," he continues.
The proud dad says his daughter began asking if specific things were okay after the fires, to which Jackson had to answer that they had all burned down as well.
"I say, 'This is not a grown-up thing. You can ask me any question you want about this and I will tell you whatever you want to know.' And she said, 'I would like to see some pictures.' So I go, 'Okay,' and I show her some pictures of the house," says Jackson. "She looks at it and she goes, 'Daddy, when we build the new house, we should build it with water around it because water doesn't burn.'"
"I go, 'Okay,' and then she says, 'And you know what, we should build it with dirt around it because dirt doesn't burn.' I said, 'Honey, these are great ideas. I'm going to write these down and we're gonna write out a list.'"
The father-daughter duo ended up spending an hour going through it and creating a list, which became "turrets and rainbows and unicorns."
"This is the kind of thing to watch her process, this is loss, and she still bring it up, 'I miss my house,' and we've gone up there a bunch to try to keep a connection with the land and help her through it, but I'm astonished by her resiliency and her ability to process," says Jackson.
Jackson shares his daughter with ex-wife Jodie Turner-Smith .
The actor opened up about his divorce from Turner-Smith on an April episode of Jesse Tyler Ferguson's Dinner's on Me podcast and shared that he will always put his daughter first, despite all of life's outside factors.
"If I ever did anything to estrange my daughter from myself, I would be in duress," he said. "I actually can't conceive of it because I don't even wanna think of the pain that that would be."
"Regardless of how messy the divorce is, beautiful the divorce is, easy [or] hard the co-parenting is ... I think this generation of dads is understanding, like 'I need to be here. It's gonna be hard, but this is important, and I've got to do this,' " continued Jackson. "It's my job – shared with my ex-wife – to do everything that we can to nurture you, cultivate you and give you all the tools that you need in life."

Ex-Red Hot Chili Peppers Guitarist Josh Klinghoffer Avoids Jail Time for Vehicular Manslaughter Charge
Former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer accepted a no-jail plea deal for a vehicular manslaughter charge Klinghoffer was charged with the death of Israel Sanchez, who was walking to the grocery store in 2024 to purchase ingredients for soup for his family in Alhambra, Calif. The guitarist will be required to complete a driver safety class and pay restitution to be determined at a later dateFormer Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer accepted a no-jail plea deal for a vehicular manslaughter charge in the 2024 death of Israel Sanchez on Wednesday, May 28. Klinghoffer, 45, appeared in court in Alhambra, Calif., and pleaded no contest to misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence. He was sentenced to one year of informal probation and 60 days of community labor, per Rolling Stone. The guitarist, who recently toured with Pearl Jam after leaving the Chili Peppers in 2019, must also complete a driver safety class and pay restitution to be determined at a later date, according to Los Angeles County Judge Rosa Fregoso, Rolling Stone reported. After Klinghoffer entered his plea, a prosecutor read a statement that warned against distracted driving. 'If you continue to drive while distracted, and as a result of your driving someone is killed, you can be charged with murder,' the prosecutor said. Klinghoffer responded that he understood, according to the outlet. Sanchez's only daughter, Ashley Sanchez, cried in court while reading her victim impact statement, the outlet reports. 'My father was an extraordinary grandfather to my [children],' she said. She continued, 'His absence has left an irreversible void in our lives." Ashley described her father as 'the heart of our family," and praised his love for cooking and painting, along with his 'unique gift for soothing' his loved ones. 'His meals were more than just food. They were expressions of love and care,' she said. Ashley referred to her father's death as an 'avoidable loss that has shaken my family.' The family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Klinghoffer in July 2024. The lawsuit, previously obtained by PEOPLE, claimed Klinghoffer was 'likely driving while distracted' and was allegedly 'using a device mere seconds before' he struck Sanchez in the back while making a left turn. Sanchez was 47. Klinghoffer accepted the plea deal to resolve allegations he failed to yield while driving in 2024, resulting in him striking and killing Sanchez in his wake. Sanchez was on the way to the grocery store to make soup for his family. The accident allegedly occurred on a marked crosswalk. Officials said Klinghoffer was driving a black 2022 GMC Yukon, and confirmed that Sanchez's cause of death was blunt force trauma. In January, a judge denied the family's renewed attempt to seek damages in the lawsuit, Rolling Stone reported. The judge ruled for a second time that the stated claims against Klinghoffer did not rise to the level of 'willful and conscious disregard' for the safety of others. A hearing for the case in civil court is set for July 1, per the outlet. Read the original article on People

Barbara Walters Grills Taylor Swift On Love Life In Explosive Hulu Documentary
is once again making headlines, this time posthumously, as Hulu prepares to release a no-holds-barred documentary chronicling the legendary broadcaster's jaw-dropping career. The late trailblazer, who passed away in 2022 at age 93, was renowned for her fearless, often polarizing interview style. And in the new trailer for "The Barbara Walters Effect," viewers get a taste of just how bold and, at times, brutal, her questions could be. In one especially tense clip, obtained by PEOPLE, Walters grills a then-25-year-old on her love life. With photos of Swift and her famous exes, including , , and , flashing across the screen, Walters deadpans, 'As you've become more famous, so have the boyfriends.' She then goes for the jugular, asking how Swift ever expects 'to find anybody' to date with her track record of heartbreak ballads. The "Love Story" singer, known for weaving personal experience into her music, didn't take the jab lightly. 'That's an old joke,' she replied sharply, calling out the sexist undertone. 'It comes from a place of such sexism.' Earlier in the same interview, Swift acknowledged the frustrating double standard that plagues women in music. 'If a man writes about his feelings, he's brave. If a woman does it, she's oversharing or 'crazy,'' she said. The documentary doesn't stop at Swift. It also revisits the moment Walters left in tears during a painfully personal interview, as well as her infamous confrontation with Donald Trump, in which she accused him of lacking humility. In a 1990 interview on ABC's "20/20," Walters confronted the current President of the United States about his public persona, particularly his perceived lack of humility. She pointedly asked, "With all of the publicity, and with the way that you have answered, there are people who say, 'Why won't he show some humility?'" Another clip features Walters questioning Courtney Love about doing drugs in front of her child, a moment still debated to this day. During this conversation, Walters directly questioned Love about her past drug use, including whether she had ever used drugs in front of her daughter, Frances Bean Cobain. This line of questioning was part of Walters' signature probing style, aiming to delve deep into her subjects' personal lives. Some viewers felt that Walters' questions were invasive, while others saw them as a bold attempt to hold public figures accountable for their actions, especially concerning sensitive topics like parenting and substance abuse. And one of Barbara Walters' most unforgettable interviews came in 1980, when she sat down with former President Richard Nixon and asked a question that stunned viewers: 'Do you ever deeply regret that you didn't just burn the tapes?' Walters was referring to the infamous Watergate tapes, the secret White House recordings that ultimately led to Nixon's resignation in 1974. The directness of her question caught Nixon off guard, prompting a rare moment of reflection. After a pause, he admitted, 'Yes, I think so. I think it was a mistake.' That clip, along with many more, will be revisited in the upcoming documentary. Barbara Walters died on December 30, 2022, at the age of 93. According to her longtime publicist, Cindi Berger, the legendary journalist passed away peacefully at her home in New York, surrounded by loved ones. Walters had largely stayed out of the spotlight in her later years as she reportedly faced ongoing health challenges. A true pioneer in broadcast journalism, Walters broke barriers as the first woman to co-anchor an evening news program and went on to co-create the long-running talk show "The View." Following news of her passing, tributes poured in across social media, with fans, colleagues, and celebrities remembering her trailblazing career, sharp interviewing style, and enduring impact on the industry. "Barbara Walters: Tell Me Everything" premieres on Hulu on June 23.
