Nearly 1,000 media to cover 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting in KL
The event will take place from July 8 to 11 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).
International Media Centre (IMC) coordinator Zaria Mohd Nasri confirmed that Bernama, as the official media and IMC coordinator, has completed preparations for the media workspace and secretariat.
'Alhamdulillah, all preparations, particularly for the media secretariat, have been completed,' she said.
The media workspace will feature high-speed internet and ample plug points for journalists.
A dedicated help desk has also been set up to assist with inquiries. Media representatives can collect their accreditation passes starting today at 4pm.
Zaria added that the secretariat has provided online platforms for media access to event photos and ASEAN news at https://aseanfoto.bernama.com and https://asean.bernama.com.
A walkabout was conducted today for official media to coordinate coverage, with additional sessions planned for domestic and international journalists tomorrow.
Embassy representatives will also attend a briefing in the afternoon.
The meetings will include 24 sessions at the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' level, with participation from Dialogue Partners and ASEAN Sectoral Dialogue partners.
Around 1,500 delegates, including foreign ministers from ASEAN member states and Timor-Leste, are expected to attend.
Malaysia will also host the 4th Ministerial Meeting of the Conference on Cooperation among East Asian Countries for Palestinian Development (CEAPAD IV), co-chaired by Japan, focusing on Gaza's reconstruction.
This marks Malaysia's fifth ASEAN Chairmanship, having previously led in 1977, 1997, 2005, and 2015. - Bernama

PM discusses high-impact strategic partnerships with 40 French captains of industry
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today chaired a roundtable meeting with 40 captains of industry from France with operations in Malaysia to discuss strategic investment and partnership opportunities in high-impact sectors at the global level. He said Malaysia offers a strategic position as a gateway into the Asean market, supported by political stability as well as investor-friendly policies and a dynamic industrial ecosystem. "I emphasised that Malaysia is now a major hub in the clean energy, semiconductor, and electrical and electronic sectors, and continues to play an important role in the oil and gas industry. "This potential has also been strengthened with the implementation of investment faciliation initiatives by government agencies," he posted on his personal X account, @anwaribrahim, after the meeting that was held in Paris on Friday. Anwar is leading a Malaysian delegation to the city in conjunction with a two-day official visit to France. French companies that participated in the roundtable session included Air Liquide, L'Oréal, Axens, Schneider Electric and Thales which have been well established in Malaysia and continue to show their strong commitment. Anwar said that at the same time, the government is also focusing on empowering small and medium enterprises so they can participate in the global supply chain and become strategic partners to foreign investors, including through technology transfer, training and talent development. "I also encouraged French companies to explore Special Economic Zones and halal parks in Malaysia as well as to establish collaborations in renewable energy, CCUS (carbon capture, utilisation and storage), the digital economy, defence and aerospace in line with the country's inclusive and sustainable economic reformation agenda," he added. France has remained one of Malaysia's top five trading partners among European Union members. MTD kicks off two projects in Malacca
AYER KEROH: MTD Properties Sdn Bhd is set to develop two property projects here, comprising residential and industrial units, with phased construction expected to begin this year. MTD group CEO Reime Rizal Abd Aziz stated that the projects – to be developed in Taman Tasik Utama, Ayer Keroh – are the MTD Nexus 28 Industrial Park, slated for launch in August, and MTD Elysia Heights in October. 'The development of MTD Nexus 28 Industrial Park will be a modern industrial estate equipped with smart systems and solar PV panel installations to support sustainability. The project will involve 87 industrial units or factory lots, primarily targeting the small and medium enterprise sector. 'Meanwhile, MTD Elysia Heights is a residential development comprising 197 units designed with a contemporary concept – offering stylish living, comfort, and long-term value to buyers who prioritise quality of life in a strategic location. The development will complement the overall township plan for Taman Tasik Utama,' he told Bernama. Reime Rizal said the two property projects will span approximately 8.89ha, with each expected to be completed within two years of commencement. In terms of pricing, the industrial units at MTD Nexus 28 Industrial Park will start from RM650,000 per unit, while the residential units at MTD Elysia Heights will be priced from RM430,000 each.
