North Mumbai Panthers, led by Prithvi Shaw, secured their first victory of the T20 Mumbai League 2025, defeating ARCS Andheri by five wickets at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday. Shaw set the tone for the match with a brisk 33 runs off 23 balls, while his opening partner, Divyaansh Saxena, contributed significantly with a score of 36 runs from 31 balls. In the third match of the day, the MSC Maratha Royals triumphed over the Eagle Thane Strikers by six wickets at DY Patil Stadium, thanks to impressive half-centuries from skipper Siddhesh Lad and Chinmay Sutar.
Earlier in the day, in a marquee showdown between India's white-ball stars, Shreyas Iyer's SoBo Mumbai Falcons edged out Suryakumar Yadav's Triumphs Knights Mumbai North East by four wickets in a tense T20 Mumbai League 2025 Season 3 encounter here on Friday.
Put in to bat, the Knights struggled on a pitch offering seam movement, managing 145/5. After a shaky start and Suryakumar's early dismissal for 1 by Kartik Mishra, opener Siddhant Adhatrao held firm with a gritty half-century. He shared a 46-run stand with Suryash Shedge before falling to Nikhil Giri. Suryash (49* off 21) and Makarand Patil (13*) added a late flourish, stitching an unbeaten 33-run partnership in the final overs.
The Falcons' reply began on a shaky note with Hitesh Kadam removing Ishan Mulchandani and Shreyanssh Rai off successive balls. But Iyer (13) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi steadied the innings with a 54-run stand before Iyer was trapped LBW by Parikshit Valsangkar.
Vinayak Bhoir (33) and Akash Parkar (30) then took control with a 56-run partnership that brought the Falcons within striking distance. Though Bhoir perished while accelerating, Parkar and Kush Kariya held their nerve to see the Falcons home with four balls to spare.
Bandra Blasters pip Aakash Tigers by 1 run
Bandra Blasters held their nerve to clinch a thrilling one-run win over Aakash Tigers in the opening match of Day 3 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Friday. Led by a sharp spell from pacer Dhanit Raut (4/29), the Blasters overcame a gritty chase anchored by veteran opener Jay Bista's half-century.
Chasing a modest 154, Aakash Tigers were rocked early, losing their top four for just 20 runs. However, opener Jay Bista staged a spirited fightback with a brisk 48-ball 55, featuring four fours and two sixes, to revive hopes. But once Dhanit Raut dismissed the in-form batter, the Tigers struggled to keep up with the required rate and eventually fell short, finishing at 152/8.
Earlier, put in to bat, Bandra Blasters recovered from a shaky start to post a competitive total of 153. Om Keshkamat anchored the innings with a top score of 40, while Dhrumil Matkar chipped in with a valuable 33. For the Tigers, left-arm spinner Shams Mulani was the standout performer, picking up 3/12 in a tidy spell.

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], June 7 (ANI): With the all-important five-match Test series taking place in England from June 20, former India bowling coach Bharat Arun has backed left-arm chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav, saying the wrist-spinner can be a key weapon in English conditions. While speaking to Boria Majumdar on Revsportz, Arun said, 'Wrist spinners have always been effective, especially in England. Maybe even initially, when there is a little bit of dampness in the wicket, there is help for those wrist spinners. And also, the roughs that the bowlers create. But again, using the rough is a separate art.' Arun couldn't help drawing comparisons with some of the greats of the game, stressing that wrist spin has always been a part of the sport. 'It's not just about bowling. I think somebody who instantly comes to our mind is Shane Warne. I think Kuldeep has got enough skills to be successful in England,' he remarked. India's new-look bowling attack will also hope their young guns rise to the occasion in England. According to Arun, these young talents have plenty of potential despite their inexperience. 'If you look at this bowling attack, yes, it is relatively inexperienced, but it's got huge potential,' he added. Kuldeep Yadav, in good touch across formats of late, may have a significant role to play in India's plans especially if conditions start to turn and bounce as the Test matches progress. Liam Dawson is determined to make the most of his surprise recall to international duty after believing his England career had come to an end. The 35-year-old left-arm spinner had won just 20 caps across all three formats since making his debut in 2016. He appeared surplus to requirements as England selected a succession of other slow bowlers in red and white-ball cricket, many of whom had inferior county records to Hampshire mainstay Dawson. But he produced a reminder of his quality with four for 20 and a player-of-the-match award as England marked Harry Brook's first T20I as captain with a 21-run win over West Indies at Chester-le-Street on Friday. 'I had got to an age where I probably thought international cricket was gone,' said Dawson after taking his best figures in T20 internationals. 'In my domestic career, I've tried to go out there and just enjoy playing for whoever I'm playing for. It was about going out there and not worrying about playing for England. I think that can hamper you sometimes so I've not really worried about that. I'm at an age now where I know that I'm close to finishing.' Brook gave Dawson the new ball in Durham, a sign of his confidence in the bowler, and perhaps a marker for next year's T20 World Cup on turning pitches in India and Sri Lanka. 'Personally, I think he's been knocking on the door for years to try and solidify that spot and the performance we saw from him was awesome,' said Brook of Dawson. He can also help the younger lads along the way, to have him in the inner circle when they are bowling is going to help us a lot.' The three-match series continues in Bristol on Sunday before finishing at Dawson's home ground in Southampton on Tuesday. Well though he bowled in Durham, Dawson is taking nothing for granted. 'I know how cricket works, you've got to be consistent and it's only one game,' he said. 'So, I'll park this and go again. It would be nice to play at my home ground, if selected.'
