Tendulkar says 'life has come full circle' with Lord's portrait
That total is over 6,000 more runs than the next highest of 28,016 compiled by Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara.
"I remember standing near the pavilion, soaking in the history and dreaming quietly," Tendulkar said of his first visit to Lord's in 1988 as a teenager in a post on X.
"Today, to have my portrait unveiled at this very place is a feeling that's hard to put into words. Life has truly come full circle. I'm grateful, and filled with wonderful memories."
The portrait, by Stuart Pearson Wright, is painted from a photograph taken by the artist in Tendulkar's home in Mumbai 18 years ago and was unveiled before the first day of the third Test between England and India.
It is the fifth portrait of an Indian player in the collections of Marylebone Cricket Club, the owners of Lord's.

"It was a little bit of a slower wicket so we tried to hit the wicket hard and use the slower balls as well," said Dwarshuis, who was named player of the match. 'Draw that feels like a win': India hails great Test escape
India, 2-1 down in the five-match series and a daunting 311 runs behind on first innings, batted out Sunday's final day to take it to a decider at the Oval, starting Thursday. Captain Shubman Gill struck his fourth century of the series before unbeaten hundreds from Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar denied England victory. KL Rahul also scored 90. It was a remarkable fightback after India had lost their first two second-innings wickets without a run on the board on Saturday. But he has laid all doubts to rest with a record-breaking run, joining Don Bradman and Sunil Gavaskar as the only Test captains to score four centuries in a series. His 722 runs are the most scored by an Indian batsman in a series against England, surpassing team-mate Yashasvi Jaiswal's 712 in 2023/24. "Nobody ever doubted Shubman Gill's talent," said head coach Gautam Gambhir . "Those who did, they just know to talk cricket but lack understanding of the game. Their resilient display, the latest chapter in an enthralling campaign, mean India head to next week's finale at the Oval in London with hope of ending the five-Test series all square at 2-2. AFP Sport looks at three talking points from an engrossing match: India face Bumrah dilemma again Jasprit Bumrah's back injury earlier this year led India to announce the outstanding fast bowler would only feature in three games of the England series in a bid to manage his workload. And the world's top-ranked Test bowler made his third appearance of the campaign in Manchester. But with the fifth Test starting on Thursday, there is little time for Bumrah to recover after a tiring haul of 2-112 in 33 overs -- the first time the 31-year-old has conceded more than a hundred runs in a Test innings. Curiously, the only match India have so far won this series is the one Bumrah missed, when the tourists thrashed England by 336 runs in the second Test at Edgbaston. Stokes' commitment poses problems for England A captain who can lead with both bat and ball is a huge asset, but the England management may yet have to save Ben Stokes from himself with an Ashes tour of Australia on the horizon.
