Emmy-winning star of TV favourite dead
M*A*S*H icon Loretta Swit has died at the age of 87. The late actress died of natural causes at her home.
She is said to have died at her home in New York City. According to Variety, her representative Harlan Boll has said that the New York police reported that the actor died earlier today of suspected natural causes.
Loretta is best known for her role as Major Margaret Houlihan on M*A*S*H, which ran on CBS from 1972 to 1983. She received acclaim for her performance as the character - who was known as Hot Lips - winning two Emmy Awards. Margaret was the head nurse at the mobile army surgical hospital in the show.
Her decades-long career in the acting industry also included roles in shows like Hawaii Five-O, Mission: Impossible and the Love Boat in the 1970s.
Tributes have been paid to Loretta following the news of her death. One person wrote on X: "Rest in peace [Loretta]. A truly phenomenal actress who will be deeply missed…" Someone wrote: "May you Rest in Peace Loretta. You are off duty now."
Another fan said: "This is absolutely devastating news... Loretta Swit was an amazing human being. Exceptional on-screen and off-screen. Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen Loretta."

Goggins said that when he finished The White Lotus he 'needed to just back away from everyone', as it is his 'process' when filming a project ends. 'It's all so ridiculous,' he said. 'It's just a part of me just saying goodbye to this character so that now Aimee and I will be friends for f****** ever.' Wood previously criticised a Saturday Night Live sketch, with an cast member impersonating her with exaggerated prosthetic teeth, calling it 'mean and unfunny' on Instagram. She told Variety that it 'felt misogynistic. It felt like the punchline was a woman's appearance, which is just not funny. It's not cool'. Goggins shared the same sketch online and praised Jon Hamm for playing a version of his character, before deleting the Instagram post, ahead of hosting SNL> He said he was 'gonna say it (something) to your face', and added: 'I don't use social media in any way, and I'm not a mean guy.' SNL apologised for the April sketch, according to Wood, and the comedian and cast member who impersonated her, Sarah Sherman, sent her flowers to apologise. A-ha frontman Morten Harket has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease
MORTEN HARKET, THE frontman of synth-pop band A-ha, has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. The 65-year-old's diagnosis was announced in an article on the Norwegian band's website , written by their biographer Jan Omdahl. Omdahl said that he was asked to contribute the article to the band's website revealing Harket's condition after it was initially kept strictly private. Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder. It primarily affects movement but also impacts other bodily functions. There is no cure. 'It used to bother me to think about my sickness becoming public knowledge,' Harket is quoted as saying in the article. 'In the long run it bothers me more to have to protect something that is strictly a private matter by treating it as a secret.' A-ha was formed in 1982 with Magne Furuholmen and Paul Waaktaar-Savoy alongside Harket. He has already undergone two successful neurological procedures to minimise in symptoms in the last year. When asked by Omdahl if he could 'sing now at all', Morten replied that he didn't know. ''I don't really know. I don't feel like singing, and for me that's a sign. I'm broadminded in terms of what I think works; I don't expect to be able to achieve full technical control. The question is whether I can express myself with my voice. As things stand now, that's out of the question. But I don't know whether I'll be able to manage it at some point in the future.' Harket said that he 'won't process' alternative theories and opinions from well-meaning individuals, saying that he is in the care of professionals. To his fans, he said, 'Don't worry about me. Find out who you want to be – a process that can be new each and every day.
