National airline is offering long-distance friends the chance to reunite - here's how

Yahoo2 days ago
A national airline is offering an opportunity to reunite friends who live far apart through its latest competition.
Loganair's Season of Connections campaign is searching for the UK's longest-distance friendships, with the winning pair set to receive return flights to finally meet again in person.
Lyn MacDonald, head of marketing and brand at Loganair, said: "This campaign is all about celebrating the real, meaningful connections that define our lives, and demonstrating the role regional travel can play in bringing people together.
"Whether it's been months or years since friends last met in person, we want to help make that reunion possible."

The competition is open to anyone with a long-distance friend.
Entrants are encouraged to share their stories via Loganair's Instagram or Facebook pages, explaining why their friendship deserves a reunion.
The competition runs until Sunday, August 17, and the winning duo will be announced later this summer with the reunion to take place in autumn.
This new campaign follows the success of Loganair's Christmas giveaway, which offered a year of free flights to one winner.
Inspired by the airline's festive advert Loganair, Actually, the giveaway drew a huge response from the public.
Loganair hopes this new campaign will create another memorable moment, this time between friends kept apart by distance.

The airline's network spans destinations across the UK and beyond, including remote islands such as Orkney, the Isle of Man and Guernsey, as well as major cities like Glasgow, Manchester and Edinburgh.
Loganair's codeshare agreements with British Airways and KLM also make it possible for passengers to travel even further to see loved ones.
Earlier this year, Loganair was ranked second in the Which? annual customer survey of short-haul airlines, earning a 72% customer score.
The airline received a five-star rating for customer service and four stars for booking, boarding, and cleanliness.

Top North East attractions to close as Storm Floris weather warning issued

A growing number of North East attractions have confirmed they will stay closed for all of Monday or shut earlier than expected, as a weather warning has been issued for the region, as Storm Floris is expected to bring winds of over 80mph further north. And a 'do not travel' advice has also been given for anyone planning on heading north into Scotland. The North East is in for strong and potentially disruptive winds from around 6am on Monday and the yellow weather warning is in place until just before midnight, with the warning for Scotland being upgraded from yellow to amber, as conditions look set to be even worse north of the border. The warning for the North East covers all of Northumberland, as well as Newcastle, Gateshead, South Tyneside, Sunderland and Durham, extending down to Teesside. And it looks like the teams in charge of some of the region's most popular attractions are taking no chances, as, by Sunday evening, a whole host of them had confirmed that they wouldn't be opening at all on Sunday, while others will open for reduced hours. This Is the Most Family-friendly Airport in the World

Here's another reason to bring the whole family to Points A new study ranked 117 global airports on family-friendly amenities like play areas, nursing rooms, stroller rentals, and security options. Several U.S. airports made the full list, but none cracked the top 20—Memphis International (MEM) ranked highest at No. with small children is no walk in the park, even under the best of circumstances. But as families on the go know, not all airports are created equal—and a new study set out to find the 10 most family-friendly airports in the world. British stroller company iCandy recently released its Little Flyers Index, which examined 117 airports around the world and ranked them according to their kid-friendliness. Scores were determined based on factors that parents care about the most: the number of restaurants available, the number of children's play areas, the number of breastfeeding and nursing rooms, rentable strollers, family-friendly security lines, and the number of passengers who fly from the airport each year. Each airport was then given a score out of 100. After crunching the numbers, Spain's Menorca Airport (MAH), located on the Mediterranean coast, came out on top with a score of 95. This small airport has four children's play areas, three nursing rooms, eight dining options, and a smaller number of annual passengers, making it easier to navigate than other airports. The second airport in the top ten, Latvia's Riga Airport (AIX), has 12 restaurants, three play areas, four nursing rooms, rentable strollers, and family-friendly security. Third on the list is the Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) in Poland, which has 25 restaurants, three play areas, 19 nursing rooms, rentable strollers, and family-friendly security options. Here are the 10 best family-friendly airports in the world, according to the study: Menorca Airport, Spain Riga International Airport, Latvia Warsaw Chopin Airport, Poland Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL), Canada Oslo Airport (OSL), Norway Istanbul Airport (IST), Turkey Lyon–Saint-Exupéry Airport (LYS), France London Luton Airport (LTN), U.K. Munich Airport (MUC), Germany Copenhagen Airport (CPH), Denmark Several U.S. airports appeared on the complete Little Flyer Index, but none made the top 20. The highest ranking U.S. airport is the Memphis International Airport (MEH) in Tennessee, in the 23rd spot. For parents planning a family-friendly vacation, airports that offer amenities designed for young children can be a major game-changer. Spending a layover at an airport with a play area could mean the difference between a totally peaceful second leg of a journey or a total toddler meltdown. A nursing station could mean the difference between a pain-free journey and fumbling in a dirty bathroom stall with an infant, a suitcase, and zero patience. Hopefully, more airports will catch on, and there will be just as many play areas as we do vending machines for eyebrow pencils.
