Throughout OTAs, what has Jacksonville Jaguars' head coach Liam Coen seen from Travis Hunter at the cornerback position?
The Jaguars held their seventh OTA practice on Monday, and based on what Coen has said previously, along with some practice highlights, we know that Hunter has spent at least two of those practices at cornerback.
This was to be expected with Coen and James Gladstone mentioning after the draft that, early on, Hunter would see more snaps at wide receiver.
"Milo (secondary coach Ron Milus) came up to me after practice and said, 'Can we have him more?'" Coen said after Monday's practice. "That's a good thing. We were in the red area last Friday, and he didn't end up making any plays on the ball, but just the movement skills in some of the man coverages, the feel in zone, you can definitely see how natural it is for him."
With his abilities at wide receiver as well, Hunter brings impressive ball skills to the cornerback position, and also a unique perspective with playing on offense as well.
During his Heisman season in 2024, he was stingy in coverage, allowing a completion rate of only 56% and while only being targeted 41 times on the year, he still managed to come away with four interceptions and seven pass breakups, according to PFF.
While Hunter has spent more time at wide receiver on the practice field, he's been in the defensive meeting rooms and learning the playbook and terminology since he arrived in Jacksonville.
"Still learning, still growing, still trying to learn the calls as much as possible," Coen added, "but when you see him on the actual 7-on and team setting, he doesn't look out of place by any means."
Coen also mentioned last week that for the time being, Hunter will spend the entirety of practices on either the offensive or defensive side of the ball, depending on the day, but in-season, there will be practices where he plays both sides.

Steelers WR Roman Wilson has perfect four-word description of Pittsburgh's receiver room
Steelers WR Roman Wilson has perfect four-word description of Pittsburgh's receiver room The Steelers wide receiver room may not have the biggest names in 2025, but they want to succeed more than anyone — and rookie WR Roman Wilson knows this all too well. At Day 5 of OTAs, Wilson was asked to further explain what Steelers WR Robert Woods' "grimy" comments meant for the receiver room — and this was his simple but effective response (courtesy of Steelers Live): "Getting out the mud," Wilson said. "Somebody that wants it more than other people." The Steelers will truly depend on Wilson, Woods, Calvin Austin III and DK Metcalf to 'get out the mud' in 2025 — as the George Pickens trade left Pittsburgh with similar issues to those of the 2024 wide receiver woes. Another wide receiver who may fit this bill is former Jaguars WR Gabe Davis — who is set to visit Pittsburgh on Thursday. Baltimore Ravens rookie Malaki Starks could be a starter immediately.
Baltimore Ravens rookie Malaki Starks could be a starter immediately. originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Baltimore Ravens have one of the best safeties in the entire NFL in Kyle Hamilton, and now they may have another star at the position on their hands. Advertisement In a recent article by PFF, they give some key players on every team's starting lineup, as well as some rookies to watch. For the reigning AFC North champions, they list rookie safety Malaki Starks as someone who could make an immediate impact. "With Ar'Darius Washington's 2025 season in jeopardy due to a torn Achilles in May, Malaki Starks has very little standing in his way from starting at safety opposite Kyle Hamilton," PFF wrote. "He was stellar during his three years at Georgia, earning an 87.5 career PFF overall grade. If Starks can live up to his first-round billing, Baltimore could quickly have the best safety pairing in the league with both players still under 25 years old." The Ravens selected Starks out of Georgia with the 27th overall pick in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. With the team allowing the second-most passing yards in the league in 2024, drafting secondary was in the team's best interests. Starks finished his final season with the Bulldogs with an interception, three passes defended, and 77 total tackles, four of them being for a loss. Advertisement The Ravens are coming off of a loss in the AFC Divisional to the Buffalo Bills, so Starks and the rest of the team's defense will be looking to help lead the team back to the playoffs to redeem themselves.
