Woman Arrested for Attempted Break-In at BTS Jung Kook's Residence on the Day of His Military Discharge

Yahooa day ago

Just hours after BTS' Jung Kook was officially discharged from his mandatory military service, a Chinese woman was taken into custody for allegedly attempting to break into the singer's residence in Seoul.
According to authorities at the Yongsan Police Station, the suspect — a Chinese national in her 30s — went to Jung Kook's home in the Yongsan District around 11:20 p.m. KST on Wednesday night (June 11). The woman allegedly attempted to gain entry by repeatedly entering codes into the front door's keypad.

Police were dispatched to the scene following a report from a nearby resident and arrested the woman on-site for suspected unlawful entry. During questioning, she reportedly told investigators that she had traveled to South Korea specifically to see Jung Kook following his discharge.
Jung Kook, who enlisted as an active-duty soldier on December 12, 2023, had completed his 18-month military service with the Army's 5th Infantry Division Artillery Brigade earlier that same day. Authorities have stated that the investigation remains ongoing as they work to determine the full circumstances and motive behind the incident.
The attempted break-in came after both Jung Kook and BTS bandmate Jimin were officially discharged from their mandatory South Korean military service this week, which marked a big step toward the K-pop group's long-awaited reunion. At press time, six of the seven group members have now completed their service obligations, with Suga currently wrapping up his alternative service as a social worker; he is expected to be discharged later this month.
'Thank you to the fans and reporters who came to see us,' Jimin said upon discharge, where he and Jung Kook were greeted by fans and media who'd begun gathering a day earlier near Yeoncheon Public Stadium in Gyeonggi Province. 'It's been a long time, from the pandemic to military service. Now that we're back, we'll work hard to show you what we've prepared.'

The Beyoncé Effect? BeyHive Questions New Grammy Country Switch-Up

Source: Kevin Winter / Getty Okay, we all know that Beyoncé can make the whole world stop with the snap of her fingers, but did she REALLY just convince the Recording Academy to switch up their Grammy categories… just by winning?! Billboard reports that the 'Best Country Album' category will be renamed 'Best Contemporary Country Album.' Meanwhile, a new category, 'Best Traditional Country Album,' will be added. The new change will take effect at the 2026 Grammys 'The community of people that are making country music in all different subgenres came to us with a proposal and said we would like to have more variety in how our music is honored,' Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. tells Billboard . 'They said, we think we need more space for our music to be celebrated and honored.' The timing of the change is notable, as it comes months after Beyoncé's big night at the 2025 Grammys. In addition to finally winning 'Album of The Year,' Bey's Cowboy Carter won 'Best Country Album.' With that, she became the first Black woman to win the category. However, many in the country music world slammed her win. Notably, John Rich of country duo Big & Rich called Beyoncé's win 'a total joke' and said that the Recording Academy 'outed themselves' as pushing an agenda. It is also not the first time that a Beyoncé win seemingly created a Grammy shake-up. Previously, she won 'Best Dance/Electronic Album' for Renaissance at the 2023 Grammys. The following year, a new category was introduced, 'Best Dance Pop Recording.' Whether it's simply coincidental or part of a bigger conspiracy, the BeyHive is definitely buzzing! Tencent explores acquisition of Nexon to strengthen gaming portfolio

Tencent Holdings is reportedly exploring a potential acquisition of Nexon to bolster its gaming operations. The Chinese company has initiated discussions with the family of Nexon's late founder, Kim Jung-ju, regarding a possible deal, reported Bloomberg. Nexon, established in South Korea in 1994 and listed in Japan in 2011, is known for popular role-playing games such as MapleStory. Tencent and Nexon have previously collaborated on projects, including the co-development of Dungeon & Fighter, which has been a major source of revenue. The Kim family holds their stake in Nexon through NXC, which owned 44.4% of Nexon as of 30 June, according to Nexon's interim report. Kim's wife and daughters control approximately 67.6% of NXC. While the family is consulting advisers to evaluate their options, it remains unclear how open they are to selling their Nexon stake, and there is no guarantee that Tencent's discussions will lead to a transaction, the report said. This move follows Tencent's previous attempt to acquire Nexon in 2019 and coincides with other investments in South Korean assets. In late May 2025, a Tencent subsidiary agreed to purchase a nearly 10% stake in Seoul-based music producer SM Entertainment, aligning with the easing of an unofficial ban on K-pop in mainland China. In March, Tencent also committed €1.16bn ($1.3bn) for a 25% stake in a new Ubisoft unit holding intellectual property rights, including those for Assassin's Creed. In 2024, Tencent cancelled its mobile game based on Square Enix's Nier franchise after two years of development, citing monetisation challenges amid high costs and franchise rights issues. Watch: J-Hope visits Thailand in 'Killin' It Girl' video featuring GloRilla

June 13 (UPI) -- South Korean singer and rapper J-Hope has teamed up with GloRilla on new music. The K-pop star and member of BTS released the single "Killin' It Girl" and an accompanying music video Friday. The music video opens with J-Hope lying in the middle of the street. He dances in Thailand and sings about a love interest who is a "10 out of 10." The new music follows his singles "Mona Lisa" and "Sweet Dreams" featuring Miguel, which arrived in March. "Both tracks are easy to connect with, yet they offer a glimpse into the broader, more evolved musical world I'm building. This is just the start -- I have plenty more musical experiments in store," he previously told Billboard. The BTS member's newest single also coincides with the final day of his Hope on the Stage tour, which winds down at South Korea's Goyang Stadium. GloRilla recently released "Typa."
