After Rs 70 Crore Fee, Jr NTR Bags Profit-Sharing Deal For War 2 Telugu Version: Report
Recently, reports suggested that Jr NTR is paid Rs 70 crore for War 2, while Hrithik Roshan receives Rs 50 crores with backend earnings.
War 2, the Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani starrer is among the most anticipated films of 2025. Helmed by Ayan Mukerji and backed by Yash Raj Films, it is scheduled to hit the big screens on August 14 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions. Recently, reports suggested that Jr NTR is paid Rs 70 crore for War 2, while Hrithik Roshan receives Rs 50 crore with backend earnings. Now, there are rumours that the South actor has also bagged a profit-sharing deal.
Jr NTR's Profit Sharing Deal For War 2
According to Bollywood Hungama, YRF has now parted ways with the Telugu rights of War 2 by selling it upfront to Naga Vamsi for a whopping Rs 90 crore. A source told the portal, 'Naga Vamsi has acquired Telugu rights for War 2 for Rs 90 crores. Every profit from the Telugu theatrical medium will now go to Naga Vamsi, while YRF has received an outright recovery of Rs 90 crores on a budget of Rs 400 crore. 'The Telugu case has been settled between the parties."
In a major deal, Naga Vamsi and NTR Jr agreed to split the profits from War 2's Telugu adaptation. 'After receiving a large salary of Rs 70 crores, NTR Jr. is also entitled to a portion of the revenues from the Telugu version of Naga Vamsi. He is anticipated to earn more than Rs 100 Crore by the end of the run, as the Telugu version of War 2 is expected to generate significant earnings. The profits from Telugu will be split between NTR Jr. and Vamsi, not YRF or Hrithik," the trade source added.

Hrithik reportedly signed a big deal with Yash Raj Films that includes a Rs 50 crore upfront reimbursement and a share of the film's profits, making him one of the few stars other than Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan to obtain a backend deal with the production banner.

Three Hindi films were released in theatres on July 18 – Mohit Suri's Saiyaara, Kush Sinha's Nikita Roy, and Anupam Kher's Tanvi the Great. While Saiyaara emerged as a massive blockbuster, the other two films have struggled at the box office. Starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, Saiyaara has made over Rs 250 crore at the box office, while both Nikita Roy and Tanvi the Great are hovering at around the Rs 2 crore mark. In an interview, Kush Sinha spoke about his film's box office failure, and blamed it on the Saiyaara wave. He also claimed that Tanvi the Great was removed from theatres, but his film, Nikita Roy, wasn't. In an interview with Dainik Bhaskar, he was asked about Nikita Roy's underperformance, and he said that his father, Shatrughan Sinha, told him not to lose hope. 'We tried to get more screens, but sometimes, some films are swept along by a wave. At the same time, whichever theatre chains we've spoke to, they've seen the merit in the film and they've held on to it. Three films were released on the same day, and while everybody knows about the film that performed so well, the other film lost theatres.' I'm happy for YRF, and I want to congratulate them,' he said, adding that the 'other stakeholders' in his film could've done things differently to anticipate Saiyaara and to promote Nikita Roy more forcefully. 'Our film has survived the storm and has entered week two with 40%-50% increase in theatres,' he said. Kush said that his family has appreciated Nikita Roy, and that he has received feedback from several others as well. 'The best thing is that it is an entirely original film, we haven't plagiarised content from anywhere,' he said. When it was pointed out to him that allegations of plagiarism have been made against the makers of Saiyaara, he said, 'There have been discussions, but that is for them to answer. It's up to them to clear their names. But I've always been clear that I want to tell original stories, and if I ever do a remake, it will be an official remake. Others might not share this point of view, and that's up to them.'
