Twisties announce new flavour across Australia - and it's VERY controversial: 'Absolutely not'
Two iconic Aussie food brands have unexpectedly collaborated on an unusual new snack.
Twisties have teamed up with ice block brand Zooper Dooper to create a unique food mash-up.
From this week, shoppers will be able to get their hands on packs of limited-edition Twisties Zooper Dooper Fairy Floss.
The new flavour variety sees the classic Twisties revamped as a crunchy and candy-coloured snack.
The snack food is described as combining the 'nostalgic sweet flavour of Zooper Dooper's Fairy Floss with the iconic Twisties crunch'.
The result is a 'a taste explosion that's weird [and] wonderful,' according to the product description.
A Twisties brand spokesperson confirmed the 'surprise' collaboration, adding that it blended two beloved Aussie food flavours in an 'unexpected way'.
Simon Odisho, who is Brand Manager at PepsiCo said: 'Twisties Zooper Dooper Fairy Floss is the ultimate Aussie creation!'
'It's a flavour that is reminiscent of our childhoods in the most unexpected way possible.'
'We love to surprise our fans with flavours that are as bold as they are surprising, and what better way to launch a flavour this exciting than with a little fun of our own?'
Zooper Dooper Brand Manager Georgia Fink agreed, adding that that the new flavour mash-up is 'bold, unexpected and unmistakably Aussie'.
'Teaming up with Twisties has created something truly unique that we know will transport our fans straight back to their childhood with just one bite!'
But, there is (naturally!) a twist for the official launch of the exciting new snack, which arrives in IGA stores from Monday 23 June.
For Monday 23 June only, Sydney-siders can make their way down to Romeo's IGA in Eveleigh to pick-up a free packet of the new Twisties Zooper Dooper Fairy Floss flavour.
The catch? To get the free snack, they'll have to visit the store between 10am-3pm and 'Pay by Floss' - meaning, they have to show off their best flossing dance moves in exchange for a free packet of Twisties Zooper Dooper Fairy Floss.
The one-day-only promotion was launched in collaboration with Gen Z TikTok dancer, Zac Jeremiah.
Zac shared a punchy 15-second video to promote the campaign, which depicts him insisting that 'there's no way I'd dance for a new free Twisties Flavour', but then cuts to him alongside the Twisties mascot, demonstrating their best flossing moves.
The Twisties Zooper Dooper Fairy Floss will be exclusively on shelf in IGA stores from the week commencing Monday 23 June, and will then roll out nationally on 30 July.
However, it seems that some fans of the classic Twisties varieties are unimpressed by the new collaboration.
Aussie foodie Russ Stuart, who posts food reviews to his popular social media channels taste tested the new flavour and scored it a lacklustre '4 out of 10'.
A TikTok video posted to the @Russ.Eats account has notched up nearly 100K views and sees Russ tasting the new Twisties flavour, which he concedes does smell like a Fairy Floss flavoured Zooper Dooper.
But the foodie's final verdict is that the limited edition snack tasted like 'jam on a Corn Thins without any butter'.
The foodie's comments did not deter some excited shoppers, with one Instagram follower demanding to know where to 'find them' in stores.
Meanwhile, other Twisties fans took to the comments section of Russ' video to suggest alternative Twisties flavours they wished the brand would launch.
Among the suggestions were flavours like salt & vinegar, vegemite, BBQ, and beef.

Hundreds of diehard AC/DC fans braved the cold winter conditions in Melbourne on Thursday in an attempt to grab the best seats for the rock legends show at the MCG. Rock enthusiasts were ecstatic earlier this week when the Australian rockers announced they were headed Down Under this Spring for the first time in a decade. The iconic band, formed in 1973, are set to play a string of massive stadium shows Down Under in November and December. Fans stood for hours outside the Ticketek outlet in Melbourne, many chatting or scrolling their phones as they wait for the box office to open. Once tickets sales were open it was a floorer from Melbourne, Shane Merrett, who managed to score the first ticket sold. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Shane had come straight from work and waited 24-hours on his day off to land his first place position in the box office queue reported AAP on Thursday. Wearing and a black hoodie and resting in a camp chair to pass the time, Shane was later seen to brandish his AC/DC tattoo on his right proudly for the cameras. Shane bought eight tickets to the MCG gig for his friends and family. 'It was worth it,' he said of the long wait, much of it spent in frigid conditions,' he said the wait was 'tough'. A fan since he was 10-years-old, Merrett said he waited 'three days' at the box office for AC/DC Aussie tours in 2010 and 2015. It comes after of AC/ DC turned on their heroes after footage from their current global tour recently dropped on TikTok. In the clip, which appears to have been filmed at a recent gig in Pasadena, USA, guitarist Angus Young, 70, can be seen trying to rouse the crowd with a chant of 'Oi, Oi, Oi' during the band's hit 'High Voltage'. Once known for his ever youthful look, the blond-haired veteran rocker, dressed in white shirt, and velvet 'school shorts' was hardly recognisable as the vigorous performer he is known as. And this had fans asking whether Angus and his band were now past their prime. 'Time to retire' posted more than one user on the thread, which has attracted 1294 comments. Also seen in the clip, is AC/DC lead singer Brian Johnson, 77, who also appeared 'slow' compared to the fury of the on stage performances of the past. 'Surely this is going to be their last tour??' added one fan, while another enthusiast did not hold back: 'Damn I'm an AC/DC fan but this sucks a**.' Another fan was equally harsh messaging, 'They are done money off this?? Unbelievable.. and I'm a BIG AC DC FAN … Geezus boys!!!' Still, the post has attracted 90.3K love heart 'likes' as well as comments from fans prepared to back the famed Australian band as they continue their Pump Up World Tour. 'I have seen AC/DC six times since 1977. I would go again!' wrote one supporter on the thread, while another simply gushed: 'Awesome.' A third fan commented on the status of the US leg of the tour. '[They are] selling out stadiums. I don't think they are embarrassing themselves. The crowds having a great time. They aren't stopping.' The iconic band, formed in 1973, are set to play a string of massive stadium shows in November and December. Fronted by Brian Johnson and guitar icon Angus Young, AC/DC will hit major cities including Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane. AC/DC will kick off their Australian leg at Melbourne's MCG on November 12, before heading to Sydney's Accor Stadium on November 21. From there, the legendary rockers will take the stage at the BP Adelaide 500 Grand Finale on November 30, before travelling to Perth's Optus Stadium for a show on December 4. They'll wrap up the Aussie tour in style with a final stadium gig at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium on December 14.

Katy Perry calls out South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas as 'some guy' as he sits in the crowd at her Adelaide concert
Katy Perry has shouted out an Aussie politician as she took to the stage on Thursday night for her Adelaide gig. The American singer kicked off the South Australian leg of her Lifetimes tour and admitted on stage that she'd made a 'mistake' in initially skipping the city on her gig roster. 'I was silly, I was foolish when Adelaide was left off the docket for the Lifetimes Tour,' she said from the stage. Katy added that she was approached at the AFL grand final last year by 'some guy' who told her, 'You've gotta come to Adelaide'. The 'guy' in question is South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas, Adelaide Now reported - and it turns out the Premier was in the audience. The comment didn't go unnoticed by the locals with one person writing on social media, 'Katy Perry taking 5 minutes to campaign for the labor premier in Adelaide.' It comes after Katy went viral after dramatically knocking a fan's Labubu toy out of their hand during her Lifetimes tour in Australia. The American pop star, 39, was captured on TikTok marching towards fans mid-song while carrying a tray of Tim Tams during a performance of her emotional ballad, I'm Still Breathing. As she made her way along the crowd barrier, a fan held out a collectible Labubu toy box - a popular figure from Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung's The Monsters series. Katy quickly took notice, locked eyes with the toy, then abruptly swatted it out of the fan's hand with her microphone. 'I'm still - NO LABUBUS!' she belted theatrically, before crouching down to hand out Tim Tams to the crowd, urging them to use 'gentle hands.' The moment has since gone viral and racked up more than 157,000 views and sparked wild reactions online. The fan who had the toy even surfaced in the comments, writing: 'omg this is the Labubu she slapped.' The 'guy' in question is South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas (pictured) - and it turns out the Premier was in the audience One user joked: 'The way I would've caught that like Robbie Rotten with a net.' Unbothered by the stir, Katy herself chimed in on the viral clip, leaving a cheeky comment featuring three devil emojis. While it's unclear why she appears to have beef with the cult figurine, the Labubu craze has polarised collectors and fans The character - a furry, big-eyed creature - originates from a storybook by Kasing Lung and has become a global sensation thanks to collectible blind boxes by Pop Mart. Its popularity has exploded in recent years, with scalpers cashing in and prices soaring, much to the frustration of some fans. 'Honestly, One Of The Boys-era Katy would've frothed on Labubus,' joked another viewer, referencing her 2008 debut. Katy had shows in Perth, Australia on June 22 and 23, followed by a concert on June 26 in Adelaide. She first announced the Australian tour in September 2024, and though it did not initially include the 23 and 26 dates, they were added within the following weeks.
