Liverpool make approach for Chelsea and Man Utd target to follow Florian Wirtz
Manchester United and Liverpool will rival Chelsea in the race to sign Lyon starlet Malick Fofana.
Fofana emerged as one of Lyon's brightest young stars following his arrival from Gent in January 2024, making 41 appearances across all competitions with 11 goals and six assists to his name last season.
The 20-year-old also caught the eye during Lyon's Europa League campaign, coming off the bench against Manchester United to help spark a comeback at Old Trafford before Harry Maguire's late heroics.
Lyon have already cashed in on one of their prized assets this summer with Rayan Cherki joining Manchester City.
L'Equipe report Fofana could now join him with three Premier League giants interested in his services.

Chelsea have already made formal contact with Lyon over a move while Liverpool have reached out to Fofana's representatives to discuss a possible move to Anfield.
United are also admirers but are not reported to have reached out to Lyon or Fofana's team at this point.
Nottingham Forest have also shown interest in the winger.
Lyon paid €17million to sign the Belgium international from Gent 18 months ago and will be expecting a fee of €50m (£43m) if their young star is to leave this summer.
Chelsea are in the market for another wide option after deciding not to take up their option to sign Jadon Sancho on a permanent basis from Manchester United.
The Blues were in talks to sign Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund before the World Club Cup but could not get a deal over the line before the pre-competition transfer window closed on 10 June.
Liverpool meanwhile have made key additions to their squad with Jeremie Frimpong arriving to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold. A deal for Florian Wirtz is also done with Milos Kerkez also expected to arrive from Bournemouth. More Trending
But another attacking option is also on the club's list of targets.
United meanwhile have signed Matheus Cunha and hope to bring in Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford to join him.
Alejandro Garnacho, their most used wide option last season, is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer along with Antony, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho.

Ruben Amorim closes on second summer signing as another star snubs Man Utd move
Manchester United's transfer window is finally gathering pace again after the arrival of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, with Ruben Amorim close to his second signing of the summer Manchester United's summer transfer window is steadily progressing. Boss Ruben Amorim is looking to enact a major overhaul at Old Trafford following a miserable season that left them 15th in the Premier League. Matheus Cunha has already arrived from Wolves in a deal worth around £63million. Further investment is needed though if Amorim is to turn around his reign after a dismal time in charge so far. High up his list is a new striker, but top target Liam Delap has snubbed a move to Old Trafford to instead join Chelsea. And the Red Devils have received a fresh setback with another target making it clear he will not be joining Amorim's squad. That comes as United chief executive Omar Berrada insisted that he has full confidence in the club's plans for the summer window. Berrada believes that Amorim has a clear vision that will be a success. Berrada's comments come with United closing in on their second signing of the summer window. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest Manchester United transfer news. United close to second signing Tom Heaton is set to sign a new one-year contract with Manchester United to remain as their third-choice keeper. Heaton has spent the last four years with the Red Devils in what is his second spell at Old Trafford. Before that, the 39-year-old had successful spells at Bristol City, Burnley and Aston Villa, earning regular call-ups to the England national team. He had been set to be out of contract this summer. But Heaton is now close to putting pen to paper on a new deal which will keep him at Old Trafford until next summer. The decision has been approved by Amorim and his coaching staff. Berrada speaks out on plans United chief executive Omar Berrada has confirmed the club will be busy for the rest of the summer window. Berrada has overseen a massive cost-cutting process over the past year. Despite that, he has told The United Stand that the Red Devils will be 'active' over the summer. He also backed the 'vision' Amorim and director of football Jason Wilcox share for the direction of the club. 'We've put ourselves in the best position possible by doing everything that we've had this year around cost-cutting,' Berrada added. 'I'm confident that we will come out of the window with a much stronger team than what we've gone into.' Target snubs move Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper Kauã Santos has insisted he will snub a move to Manchester United. Santos featured in 14 games this season before suffering a major injury and has a contract running for another five years, though United have grown interested in him. 'The people in charge in Frankfurt have shown enormous trust in me. They wanted to continue working with me before these rumours even surfaced. They still have a lot of faith in me here, so it was clear to me that I wanted to extend my contract," he told Die Welt. "I want to establish myself as a goalkeeper, perform well, and achieve as much as possible. I'm not busy with anything else at the moment, because my entire focus is on Eintracht Frankfurt.' Jack Grealish can have City future after Club World Cup omission
The City manager appeared to have opened the door for Grealish to leave the Etihad Stadium when he omitted him from the 27-man playing group for this summer's tournament in the United States. That came after Grealish, a £100million signing from Aston Villa four years ago and one of the stars of the 2023 treble success, endured a difficult 2024-25 season, making just seven Premier League starts. Guardiola (left) gave Grealish (right) just seven Premier League starts last season (Mike Egerton/PA) Yet Guardiola, while offering no guarantees about the England international's prospects at City, says his absence is principally about allowing him to work on his game. Speaking at a press conference in Philadelphia ahead of City's tournament opener against Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca, Guardiola said: 'He had a conversation with the club and decided the best. 'Jack is an exceptional player but he didn't (play a lot). We decided he has to play. 'We're honest and he's honest. We decided the best was to stay (behind) and find that he can play, that he can come back to the player of the year of the treble and all his career at Aston Villa. 'But the fact is he didn't play much minutes the last two seasons. He has to come back to play and have the butterflies in his stomach that he can play every three days and show again the quality that he has. 'We decided don't come here. What happens I don't know but if he doesn't (leave) he is a player for Man City and he will be back.' Guardiola denied this meant he felt Grealish had lost hunger for the game, but he needs reasons to start picking him again. He said: 'The reason he didn't play is my decisions. Football is competing with each other – not just Jack, all of them. 'They compete (for) who deserves to play. The butterflies are an example of the tension and they happen for all the players. 'Over the last two years he didn't play much and I take responsibility for that, but he has to play and we reflected that it was better not to come here.' Another player not involved in the US is England right-back Kyle Walker, who spent the second half of last season on loan at AC Milan and appears set to leave the club. The 35-year-old has been linked with Everton but Guardiola was unwilling to discuss the matter. He said: 'I don't have any news. It's the same case for Jack. About the links with other teams, you have to ask (director of football) Hugo (Viana).'
