PORNHUB has pulled out of France as a stringent clampdown on adult sites makes its way to Europe.
A furious backlash over the country's new age verification rules has prompted the site to block access.

It comes over objections to a new law requiring porn sites to verify the age of users.
Aylo, the adult entertainment company that owns Pornhub, has announced
The company claims the French

The law could see users required to enter credit card details or other forms of official ID to verify their age.

Aylo also runs other popular porn sites such as Youporn and RedTube - which will also now be unavailable in

.
The company argues that device-based age verification is a better solution than requiring porn sites to police the age of users.
Aylo's VP for Brand and Community Alex Kekesi said: "All it requires is that the government enforce regulations on three companies – Apple, Google and Microsoft – the three operating system manufacturers requiring age verification at the device level prior to accessing adult content.
"The French government refuses to take this simple step and instead are focused on futile and entirely symbolic regulatory actions which are unenforceable, do not protect children and expose your private data."

The website claims that France was its second biggest audience in 2024 after the United States.

Methods of checking under these laws can include providing a government-issued ID or even scanning a user's face.
It has seen many porn sites opt to block access to their pages rather than implement such verification systems.
States that have implemented these laws include Texas, Florida, Arizona and Virginia.
The European Commission has also launched an investigation into several adult websites - including Pornhub - over accusations they had not complied with regulations aimed at stopping minors accessing porn.

The UK also has a law requiring platforms to have "robust" age checks in place by July.
It is currently unclear whether the same porn platforms will also block access to their sites in Britain when this comes into force.

Europe settles on its team of ‘Trump-whisperers' as Ukraine peace talks near

Finland's president, Alexander Stubb, can play a tidy round of golf, something that has suddenly become very useful in a world where everything can turn on a leader's rapport with Donald Trump . Stubb, an unknown entity on the world stage, struck up a good relationship with the US president when the pair played a round together at his Florida golf club in March. Republican senator Lindsey Graham reportedly lined up the game, where Stubb had an opportunity to chat with Trump about the Ukraine war among other things. Given Finland shares a 1,340km border with Russia , Stubb can speak with authority about Russian president Vladimir Putin . READ MORE The Finnish politician stayed in regular contact with Trump afterwards, which has seen Stubb emerge as an unlikely back channel from Europe to Washington. So Stubb found himself sitting around the table with Trump this week in the White House, alongside the leaders of France, Germany, the UK, Italy, along with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy , Nato secretary general Mark Rutte and European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen . We are seven months into Trump's second term and European leaders may be starting to feel like they are getting a slightly better handle on how to work the US president. Trump's thinking on the Ukraine war – sometimes influenced by the last person he discusses the subject with – has swung back one way and then another in that time. Europe remains anxious about the terms of any potential settlement in the full-scale conflict, which started more than three years ago when Russia invaded Ukraine. Fears Putin would use a summit in Alaska to manoeuvre Trump into supporting a peace deal that favoured Russia, as the price of a quick win, did not come to pass. However, Trump came out of the face-to-face with Putin colder on previous threats of further sanctions on Russia and his demands for an unconditional temporary ceasefire to let peace negotiations begin. There was a feeling Zelenskiy and the accompanying delegation of European leaders came away from their own sit-down with Trump this week relatively happy. The feedback during 'debrief' video calls with a much wider group of European leaders the day after was that the White House visit went well, according to one source with knowledge of what was said. In what could prove to be an important shift in position, Trump signalled support for Ukraine's future security being guaranteed by European allies in 'co-ordination' with the US. Ukraine has long sought commitments that the US and other allies would provide security guarantees to put Putin off the idea of any future attack in the event of a long-term truce. The Baltics and others close to Russia view any deal that undermines Ukraine's sovereignty as an invitation to Putin to make another attempt on Kyiv a few years down the line, then possibly attack an EU state. One Kyiv-based diplomat said the idea of Ukraine conceding some eastern territory held by Russian forces was not as controversial domestically as before, but should only happen as part of a final deal rather than a condition to open talks. Europe seems to have settled on its team of Trump-whisperers, tasked with nudging the US president to come down on the side of Ukraine's view of the conflict. Stubb is in there. UK prime minister Keir Starmer and Nato chief Rutte as well, having both been very careful to stay on Trump's good side. Rutte got on well with Trump during the US president's first term, when Rutte was Dutch prime minister. French president Emmanuel Macron has done a good job of maintaining a decent relationship, while at times criticising the new US administration. Trump clearly has a soft spot for Italy's hard-right prime minister Giorgia Meloni , who is the closest of the bunch to himself ideologically. A few months ago the head of the EU's executive arm, Von der Leyen, seemingly couldn't get a phone call with Trump, never mind a meeting. The rapport between the two seemed warmer this week. Trump enjoyed referring to the EU-US tariff agreement the pair struck as the 'largest trade deal in history'. Mind you, he should be happy about it, given how favourable it is to the US. The European strategy is to paint Putin as the real obstacle to Trump getting his desired peace deal. That would hopefully lock in vital US support for Ukraine, should Russia not take current talks seriously and the war rages on. High-stakes negotiations between Putin and Zelenskiy, and perhaps Trump, about a possible end to the fighting suddenly look a lot more likely. Should they happen then Europe will need to lean heavily on its leaders who have managed to establish a direct line to Trump to make sure what emerges is not peace on the Kremlin's terms.

Why is Putin so scared of meeting Zelensky? How showdown with hero Vlad dismissed as a ‘Nazi comic' exposes his FAILURE

VLADIMIR Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky have only met in person once before. The next time they set eyes on each other, it could expose the Russian tyrant as a fraud and a failure before the eyes of his people. 5 Zelensky and Putin attend a meeting on Ukraine with French President and German Chancelor at the Elysee Palace in 2019 Credit: AFP 5 Within three years of the meeting, their two countries would be locked in a full-scale war Credit: Reuters 5 In the days since Trump's separate meetings with the two leaders, Moscow has been quick to pour cold water on the prospect of a Putin-Zelensky summit Credit: Reuters When they first met, Zelensky was the freshly elected President of Ukraine, who soared to office with a landslide win - despite having no political experience. His past career was as an actor and comedian - rising to international fame with his role as an accidental president in the Ukrainian show Servant of the People. The contrast with the stony-faced macho image cultivated by Vladimir Putin could not have been more stark as they say down in 2019 for a summit in France. The pair did not shake hands at the tense, fruitless meeting. Within three years, their two countries would be locked in Europe's bloodiest war since 1945. Putin forced to 'accept failure' Donald Trump's renewed drive to bring the war to a close could bring a once unthinkable second meeting between Zelensky and Putin to reality. However, in the days since Trump's separate meetings with the two leaders, Moscow has been quick to pour cold water on the prospect. Zelensky, whose first language is Russian and performed in Moscow during Putin's rise to power, has said he is "ready" for a meeting with Vlad. But the very act of meeting with Zelensky could undermine Putin and the entire rationale for his war in the eyes of Russia. Scheming Putin WON'T draw a line under Ukraine - here's why he won't give up the Donbas Orysia Lutsevich, director of Chatham House's Russia and Eurasia program, told CNN that Putin "will have to accept the failure of sitting down with a President he considers a joke from a country that doesn't exist". Undermines Russia's war aims When the Russian despot ordered tanks to assault Kyiv in February 2022, his warped justification was based on claims that Ukraine was a fake country run by Nazis. Zelensky's Jewish identity makes the claim patently absurd, but for Putin to sit down with him would be a tacit admission of how ludicrous the claim was. For Vlad to meet Volod for talks, they would be sat there as two Presidents of legitimate, sovereign nations - something that the Kremlin's narrative could not possibly abide. And so long as Ukraine remains armed and sovereign, concession to Zelensky would prove Putin's war goals a failure. Russia has shown little indication of making major concessions so far, with the handover of vast swathes of Ukrainian territory to Moscow still Putin's core condition for peace. But to avoid Trump's wrath if talks fall through, Putin will want to shift the blame to Zelensky. Loggerheads over location His suggestion that the trilateral summit be held in Moscow - a predictably unacceptable proposal for Ukraine - could have been a calculated move to weasel out. And had the meeting been held in Russia's capital against the odds, Putin would have hailed it as a diplomatic coup for the Kremlin - and a chance to humiliate Ukraine's war leader. But Vlad's surrogates have taken to the airwaves to dampen expectations around a summit. Russia' Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said a meeting would have to be prepared "gradually... starting with the expert level and thereafter going through all the required steps". Lavrov added today that not involving Russia in discussions around Ukraine's security guarantees is a "road to nowhere". Disputes around the proposed location for the summit have also presented headaches for diplomats. While a Moscow meeting between the pair remains unlikely, other venues have also proved controversial. Suggestions for it to be held in Budapest were lambasted by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. He said: "Not everyone may remember this, but in 1994 Ukraine already got assurances of territorial integrity from the US, Russia and the UK. "In Budapest. Maybe I'm superstitious, but this time I would try to find another place." Switzerland, Qatar and Austria have been floated as other prospective venues. But Putin will be wary of a European location - where most states would be obliged to arrest him under an ICC warrant. 5 Disputes around the proposed location for a summit have presented headaches for diplomats Credit: EPA

Advertisement 'It also sets out basic terms and conditions for workers in the sector. 'While our members welcome these increases, the implementation of this new ERO was delayed for several months. 'This was during a cost-of-living crisis that disproportionately affected workers in the security industry because of their low rates of pay.' He added: 'We will now seek to engage with employers on a successor to this ERO through the Joint Labour Committee for the industry.' 'PAID PROPORTIONATELY' Mr Kenny stressed the aim is to ensure these workers are 'paid proportionately' for the vital services they provide. Advertisement Security Officer and Senior SIPTU Activist, Christy Waters, said: 'Workers in this industry have undergone significant professionalisation in recent years which requires them to have training and qualification requirements. 'Our members believe that this has yet to be fully recognised in their renumeration.' He added: 'This new ERO has now established the legally enforceable minimum pay rates for the industry and SIPTU will continue to negotiate collective agreements with higher payments in individual companies.' Employers cannot give wages less than that outlined by the ERO. Aany breaches of an ERO are to be reported to the Workplace Relations Commission. Advertisement
