Classic Rock Guitarist, 74, Reveals He ‘Actually Died' During Recent Operation

Yahoo23-05-2025
The rock world nearly lost Thin Lizzy's Scott Gorham.
Gorham, who joined Phil Lynott's band in 1974, is recuperating after nearly dying on the operating table.
"I had a health issue scare about a year ago with a kidney that had to be removed, and I got sepsis from it," Gorham said on the May 21 episode of Darren Paltrowitz's Paltrocast podcast. "And the second surgeon said I actually died on the operating table and all that. And I was, like, 'Really, man? What the hell is all that about?'"
Though Gorham wasn't a founding member, he's considered an essential part of Thin Lizzy. He was one of the band's "twin lead guitarists" and Scott played on albums like Nightlife, Fighting and Jailbreak (which featured the band's biggest U.S. hit, "The Boys Are Back In Town").
Gorham reformed Thin Lizzy in 1996, 13 years after the band broke up and a decade after Lynott's death. He also played in the Thin Lizzy spin-off band, Black Star Riders, before departing in 2021 to focus strictly on Thin Lizzy.
In November, Gorham discussed putting together "just an absolute kick-[explicative] Thin Lizzy band" together for a tour, but he told Paltrocast that he's not ready to get back on the road.
"And now I had a third operation, and [my doctor] said, 'Maybe you should take some time out and just kind of rehabilitate and all that, get your strength back and all that.' So that's what I'm doing," said Gorham.
"And in the meantime, I've got the drawing to keep me occupied," he said. Last year, Gorham revealed his secret passion as an artist and held his first art exhibition in London.
"[Drawing] is the new thing for me," said Gorham. "It's something that I thought I'd never really do as a constant thing. So I'm kind of enjoying this kind of break from the music right now and going into this little bit of a different direction."
This doesn't mean his music career is over. Scott said that he hopes to "get my buns back out on the road" sometime soon.Classic Rock Guitarist, 74, Reveals He 'Actually Died' During Recent Operation first appeared on Parade on May 23, 2025

Kelley Wolf struggles to enter family home during live stream after Scott Wolf drops restraining order

Kelley Wolf ran into some trouble trying to get inside her family home — just two weeks after her estranged husband Scott Wolf dropped his restraining order against her. In an Instagram Live video Tuesday, the author — who is in the midst of a divorce from the 'Nancy Drew' actor — filmed herself trying to gain access to the Park City, Utah property with police present. Before getting out of her car, Kelley told her 76,000 followers on the platform that she was 'under the impression that I have done everything humanly possible to retrieve some basic items from my home.' 7 Kelley Wolf ran into some trouble trying to get inside her family home — just two weeks after her estranged husband Scott Wolf dropped his restraining order against her. kelleywolf/Instagram 'I'm currently about to meet up with a deputy of Summit County who's going to escort me into my home so I can get some money that I have saved,' she said in the video. 'I have just had enough… I'm sick of being treated like I'm crazy.' 'I have a sassy attitude, my God, but being called things like grandiose, bipolar, schizophrenic, crazy, being banned from places I've been forever is just rude, honestly,' she added. Kelley, who is no longer bound by an active restraining order that Scott was granted late last month, explained the situation to fans in the video. 'I have to now prove myself and did nothing except ask for a divorce,' she said while entering a security code at the front door. 'I'm sure y'all have seen this before, but wrong lady, because I don't back down.' After being unsuccessful, Kelley tried her luck at entering through the garage. 'My dad taught me [to] keep cash. You know, just keep cash. And since I now owe a lot of lovely people a lot of money back, I've never asked for $1 in my life,' she said. Once the garage door opened, Kelley was still unable to gain entry into the property. 'I just want to get a few things… I tried to do this as peacefully [possible],' she said. 'I've called you guys eight times in January saying I didn't feel safe, but [Scott] beat me to the punch. Apparently, I tried to file, but if somebody files before you, they can do a lot of weird stuff.' 7 In an Instagram Live video Tuesday, the author filmed herself trying to gain access to the Park City, Utah property with police present. kelleywolf/Instagram 7 After being unsuccessful, Kelley tried her luck at entering through the garage. kelleywolf/Instagram 'We're both famous, just that's the part that sucks…' she added. 'It's embarrassing.' Continuing to film her attempt, Kelley then tried forcing a window open while cops dialed Scott, who did not answer. Moments after sharing the clip on social media, her 16-year-old son Jackson rushed to the comments section. 'This is insane mom what are you doing,' he wrote. 7 Moments after Kelley shared the clip on social media, her 16-year-old son Jackson rushed to the comments section. kelleywolf/Instagram 7 Scott filed for a restraining order against his ex on June 24, and a judge signed off on the petition one day later. kelleywolf/Instagram The Summit County Sheriff's Office responded to a 'keep the peace' call earlier that day, with a deputy escorting Kelley around the home from 9:45 a.m. to 11:34 a.m., People reports. The Post has reached out to Scott's reps for comment. According to the estranged couple's strict new custody agreement, a judge ruled that Scott will maintain the exclusive use of his and Kelley's family home, as well as control of their marital funds. However, he must cover household expenses and temporarily provide Kelley with $10K per month for living costs, as well as her car payments, minimum credit card payments and a portion of her attorney fees. Scott filed for a restraining order against his ex on June 24, and a judge signed off on the petition one day later. He was granted temporary sole physical custody of Jackson, 16, Miller, 12, and Lucy, 11, Kelley was granted 'liberal' supervised visitation with the children. Kelley was also permitted supervised parenting time as coordinated by counsel and three supervised video or phone calls per week with Jackson, Miller and Lucy, per the July 15 agreement. Plus, Kelley is allowed to respond should her and Scott's children be the ones to initiate contact with her. As for the communication guidelines laid out in the estranged couple's agreement, neither the 'Everwood' actor nor Kelley can talk about adult issues, their divorce or their children's relationship with the other parent in front of or with the kids. If Kelley successfully adheres to the stipulations laid out in the temporary agreement, she will eventually be allowed unsupervised parenting time with Jackson, Miller and Lucy. The divorce drama between the 'Night Shift' star and his now-estranged wife kicked off last month when Kelley took to social media to announce that she and Scott were divorcing after 21 years of marriage. 7 The actor was granted temporary sole physical custody of Jackson, 16, Miller, 12, and Lucy, 11, Kelley was granted 'liberal' supervised visitation with the children. kelleywolf/Instagram 7 Kelley took to social media last month to announce that she and Scott were divorcing after 21 years of marriage. kelleywolf/Instagram Scott later confirmed to The Post that he was the one who filed for divorce from Kelley. Best Bars in America: How USA TODAY picked the 2025 finalists

Surely you have a memory of your favorite bar. Was it the one where you first discovered a pre-Prohibition-era cocktail, shaken by a bartender who figured out your tastes? Or was it the one where you slid onto your favorite barstool and ordered your favorite draught beer? Maybe it's the one where you watched the sun set over the water, margarita in hand. Our USA TODAY Network food writers have these favorite bars, too. And we are sharing them with you. With more than 200 sites in 42 states, the experts at our publications nominated the best bars where they live. We gathered their suggestions – speakeasies and honky tonk joints, cocktail meccas and neighborhood dives – to create the 2025 USA TODAY Bars of the Year, a companion to our Restaurants of the Year list published earlier this year. More: What's the best restaurant near you? Check out USA TODAY's 2025 Restaurants of the Year. We realize other 'best bars' lists exist. What makes our list different? Our writers are not flying into a city for a weekend to check out what others have already reported or posted on Instagram. They work for our newspapers and websites across the country. They live in these communities. And the bars they recommend are spots where they have spent more than a few late nights. "Great bars – the best bars – can mean different things to different people," said project leader Liz Johnson, senior director for and the USA TODAY Network. "Delighting in an inventive new cocktail in a sleek setting might be the bee's knees for some. Others might love to chill out with a whiskey and listen to some great music. This list has the best of all worlds." Whether you want to sip whiskey in South Dakota, dance the night away in Nashville or soak up the sun in Florida, our writers can show you where to go. We asked for their favorites, and then a team of experienced editors narrowed that list down to 29 bars, ranging from humble dives to high-end lounges. We present them to you here. Now, raise a glass and savor our USA TODAY Bars of the Year 2025. This article originally appeared on USA TODAY: Best Bars in America 2025: How USA TODAY picked the finalists
