Slamming the UNSC for appointing Pakistan as the vice-chair of the anti-terror panel, Chaturvedi said the decision is like saying Masood Azhar to be the professor of global peace.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi on Saturday called out Pakistan's role and the irony of its position on the United Nations Security Council's Counter-Terrorism Committee, saying that 52 designated terrorists reside in Pakistan.
Slamming the UNSC for appointing Pakistan as the vice-chair of the anti-terror panel, Chaturvedi said the decision is like saying Masood Azhar to be the professor of global peace.
'Pakistan has become a part of the UN Security Council. You all are aware that 52 terrorists reside in Pakistan. But they have been given the vice chairmanship of counter-terrorism," the Rajya Sabha MP, who is currently in Germany's Berlin as part of all-party delegation, said.

'It is just like saying Masood Azhar to be the professor of global peace…It needs to be called out. The whole world is suffering due to this…" she added.
Highlighting India's dual legacy — of peace from Mahatma Gandhi and Buddha, and of righteous resistance from Lord Krishna, Chaturvedi declared that India will not hesitate to fight terror in pursuit of justice.
'We are often told that India is a tolerant nation, yes, India is a tolerant nation. We are a land of Mahatma and Buddha, but we are also the land of Krishna. Whenever there is injustice and we have to fight with the terrorists to serve justice, we will do that without any hesitation…" she added.
Chaturvedi is a member of the delegation led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, which includes BJP MPs Daggubati Purandeswari and Samik Bhattacharya, Congress MPs Ghulam Ali Khatana and Amar Singh, former Union Minister MJ Akbar, and former Ambassador Pankaj Saran.
Pakistan, a non-permanent member of the Security Council for the 2025-26 term, Pakistan will chair the Taliban Sanctions Committee of the UNSC.
Apart from chairing the UNSC Taliban Sanctions Committee, Pakistan will also be the vice-chair of the Counter-Terrorism Committee of the 15-nation UN body. According to a list of chairs of the subsidiary bodies of the UN Security Council, Denmark will chair the 1267 ISIL and Al-Qaida Sanctions Committee of the UN Security Council, while Russia and Sierra Leone will be vice-chairs for 2025.
Meanwhile, India, which co-chaired the Counter Terrorism Committee in 2022, has consistently reminded the international community that Pakistan is host to the world's largest number of UN-proscribed terrorists and entities, including notorious terrorist Osama bin Laden, who was found and eliminated by American forces in Pakistan in 2011.

India is working with its partners and friends on the UN Security Council to blunt Pakistan's moves, as Islamabad has been appointed to key counter-terror committees at the UNSC. Sources in New York told The Indian Express that Pakistan demanded to be the chair of the 1267 Sanctions Committee; 1540 (Non-Proliferation) Sanctions Committee; 1988 (Taliban) Committee and Chair of the 1373 Counter Terrorism Committee (CTC). Sources said the allocation of positions 'should have been undertaken by January 2025'. It is learnt that a 'lack of consensus and unreasonable demands' by Pakistan prevented a consensus being formed till June 2025. 'The Council members were not happy with this … attitude depicted by the Pakistan,' a source said. Pakistan had to be satisfied with 'only one full Chairship' — Chair of the 1988 (Taliban) Sanctions Committee [Russia and Guyana are the Vice-Chairs], sources said . The other positions are Vice-Chair of the 1373 CTC [along with France and Russia]; Sanctions Informal Working Group (IWG) [Co-Chair with Greece] and Documentation IWG [Co-chair with Denmark.] 'The… positions allocated to Pakistan is far below its… aspirations,' the source said. India also chaired the same 1988 (Taliban) Sanctions Committee during its UNSC 2021-22 term along with the Chair of the 1970 Libya Sanctions Committee. Berlin [Germany], June 8 (ANI): Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi has said that India's Armed Forces have given a befitting reply to those who have cast an evil eye on the country and that there will be a firm response to any terror attack. Priyanka Chaturvedi, who is a member of an all-party delegation visiting partner countries to highlight India's zero tolerance policy against terrorism, told members of the Indian diaspora in Germany that India gave a firm response to the Pahalgam terror attack through Operation Sindoor. 'Our armed forces gave a befitting reply to those who have time and again attacked our country . Our response has been mature, responsible,' she said. 'We are the land of Mahatma, we are the land of Buddha, but we are also the land of Krishna,' she added. She said the terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir was targeted in Operation Sindoor. She said India was, in a way, carrying out the work of the UN, by targeting terror camps. Priyanka Chaturvedi also took a jibe at Pakistan getting a position to serve as vice-chair of the Counter-Terrorism Committee of the United Nations. 'Do you know what responsibility they got? All-party delegation calls on US Deputy Secy of State; briefs him on Pahalgam Attack, Op Sindoor
Washington DC [US], June 7 (ANI): The all-party delegation led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor which is currently visiting the United States, briefed key interlocutors on threats of terrorism faced by India and India's strong response to it. The details were shared by the Embassy of India in US in an official statement. As per the statement, the delegation called on Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau and briefed him on the heinous terrorist attack in Pahalgam, discussed India's subsequent Operation Sindoor, and put forth India's firm resolve to counter cross-border terrorism in all its forms. The Deputy Secretary reaffirmed the United States' strong support of India in the fight against terrorism. The statement noted that the two sides also had a wide-ranging conversation on the importance of strengthening bilateral relationship through advancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest. It was also mentioned that on Friday, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor interacted with various members of the American press corps. The all-party delegation led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor attended the Ambassador's dinner while in US and also met Senator Chris Van Hollen, who is a member of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
