‘Invincible' is Finally Getting Its Own Fighting Game

Gizmodo21 hours ago

Stand ready for the arrival of 'Invincible VS,' a bloody tag-team 3v3 fighter coming to PC and consoles in 2026.
Once it became clear Prime Video's adaptation of Invincible was a hit, fans and comic co-creator Robert Kirkman started talking more. Not just more seasons, but where else the IP could go, specifically video games. After a mobile game and a visual novel for Atom Eve, the time's come for the series to really get its hands bloody.
During the Xbox Games Showcase, Skybound Games and developer Quarter Up unveiled Invincible VS, the franchise's first full video game for consoles and PC. Naturally, it's a fighting game, and players will assemble three-person teams and go head-to-head against other players online. Beyond Mark and his dad Nolan, the roster includes heroes like Atom Eve, Rex Splode, and Bulletproof, plus Viltrumites Thula and Lucan. Some of the TV actors also look to be reprising their roles for the game.
According to a press release from Skybound, VS will also feature a single-player story along with competitive and casual multiplayer and Training and Arcade modes.
This being Invincible, characters shed a lot of blood as they beat each other into a pulp. Along with the tag-team mechanics of Marvel vs. Capcom (or more recently Marvel Tōkon), it looks like VS is taking inspiration from NetherRealm's Mortal Kombat games in that the fighters all have brutal finishers they can inflict on one another. If Mark can headbutt guys' heads off and Eve can blast them apart, everyone else's are gonna be just as gnarly. But will they top Omni-Man's gruesome train murder used in Mortal Kombat 1?
Invincible VS releases in 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Dakota Johnson Trades Femme Fatale Dresses for Summer Whites

Throughout her Materialists press tour, Dakota Johnson has reminded us that dressing sexy exists on a spectrum. The Celine Song film, which premieres June 13, follows Johnson as Lucy, a professional matchmaker who finds herself caught in a love triangle (AKA, the Celine Song special). For her various press obligations, Johnson, styled by Kate Young, has channeled the Girl Next Door in cool Khaite jeans and suede jackets—albeit with sheer shapewear—to the sirenesque in her backless, asymmetrical dress. As she inched closer to the premiere, Johnson offered a modern take on the revenge dress. For her appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, she rocked a sheer black Gucci dress with a criss-crossing neckline over a brown strapless bodysuit. And at the premiere, she chose a slinky black gown that wrapped around her neck and revealed a tasteful amount of sideboob. AeonToday, the actor traded her femme fatale dressing for summer whites. She wore a simple white midi-length tank dress, which she styled with black cat-eye sunglasses, a black shoulder bag, and white pointy-toe pumps. While much more pared-down than her sheer numbers, Dakota Johnson reminds us that in her body-conscious white dress and sultry cat-eye glasses, sexy comes in many forms.

Director Reveals If Keanu Reeves Will Be In ‘John Wick' Spinoff ‘Caine'

"From the World of John Wick: Ballerina" partial character poster featuring Keanu Reeves. With Keanu Reeves appearance in the John Wick spinoff Ballerina, what are the chances of him turning up in the franchise spinoff Caine? The director of the franchise has an answer. Reeves, of course, seemingly perished at the end of 2023's John Wick: Chapter 4, creating a creative dilemma for Stahelski when it came to the announcement at CinemaCon in April that the star would be reprising his role in John Wick 5. In the interim, Reeves was brought back in a supporting capacity in From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, starring Ana Armas as ballerina-turned-assassin Eve Maccaro, which opened in theaters over the weekend. Since the film is set during the events of 2019's John Wick: Chapter 3: Parabellum, it allowed Wick to return in a way that made sense to the narrative. Produced by Stahelski and directed by Len Wiseman, Ballerina is the first of at least two more From the World of John Wick features in the works. John Wick franchise studio Lionsgate announced at CinemaCon that in addition to John Wick 5, it is producing an animated John Wick prequel and the unofficially titled Caine, named after Donnie Yen's blind assassin character in John Wick: Chapter 4. Unlike Ballerina, however, the upcoming Caine movie won't feature Reeves, Stahelski recently told The Hollywood Reporter. 'The [Donnie] Yen spinoff doesn't have the John Wick character,' Stahelski said. 'It's got [Donnie] Yen and it's an ode to kung fu movies. If John Wick 1 was about Charles Bronson and Lee Marvin, this is about Chow Yun-fat, John Woo and Wong Kar-wai. So, I think that one is a little easier to get it across to audiences because it's in a sub-genre of what we love.' (Photo byfor Lionsgate) Now that Chad Stahelski is telling spinoff tales from the world of John Wick, The Hollywood Reporter asked the director-producer if he ever worried about John Wick movies working without the Wick character. 'Keanu and I actually just talked about this,' Stahelski told THR. 'Look, it's always tricky. I think the world can be supported as long as you don't go crazy and carpet bomb. What we're doing now are stories we really want to tell that feel organic. You've seen Alice in Wonderland. Now what about the Rabbit? What about the Cheshire Cat? 'Also, sometimes in your own franchise, you get so far up your own a-- with the mythology that by the 10th movie you don't know what's going on,' the filmmaker added. 'I don't ever want to get that way with Wick. I want each one to be able to stand alone.' From the World of John Wick: Ballerina earned a projected $25 million from 3,409 North American theaters, finishing at No. 2 at the domestic box office behind Disney's live-action adaptation of Lilo & Stitch, which made an estimated $32.5 million from 4,185 venues. Release dates are yet to be announced for Caine, the John Wick animated prequel and John Wick 5.
