Interior
What is it like on the inside?
Sure, we could be pedantic and point out all the Stellantis switchgear, but why bother. This is a solidly built and well-finished cabin that presents a much less Franco-flimsy façade than the anti-Gallic mob would have you believe.
And as car interior design gets steadily more and more pretentious and overcomplicated, there's something deeply refreshing about getting into a van with no touch-sensitive steering wheel switchgear, a modest touchscreen and plenty of open stowage. Although we say modest, the infotainment screen is now up to 10 inches. The graphics are a little plain and outdated already, though.

Still, this is an interior designed to be useful, not designed to be a design object. Imagine if that caught on. Is it roomy for people?
Those very burly in the shoulder department might find the narrower profile of the Proace just a touch limiting, especially with a middle passenger riding shotgun. But on the whole this is a comfortable cabin in which to spend the working day.
It's also worth noting that there's a proper climate control panel so that you don't need to delve into the touchscreen to stay cool, and a single button on the dash can turn off the speed limit warnings and lane keep assist. Hurrah! What about room for stuff?
The all-important cargo bay is accessed via twin sliding doors to the side (1,282mm of maximum ingress, which will swallow a standard Euro pallet) and either double doors to the rear. These swing open 180 degrees for ultimate access.

The heartland Medium version as tested here offers 5.3 square metres of floorspace, but the SmartCargo system can expand this by folding the front passenger seat upwards to utilise floorspace in the cabin, or opening a door in the bulkhead to through-load long timber, or a ladder.
SmartCargo was an optional extra right up until summer 2021, so if you're shopping second-hand, look out for vans made before that August which might not have the box ticked.
The Long version ups loadspace to 6.1 square metres and means you can carry four metres of timber or piping with the Smart Cargo system. Neat.
No, it's not the biggest van you can get for the money, and the lack of a high-roof variant will scratch the Proace and its cousins off the shopping list for some businesses, but for others its modest size will be a boon and it's certainly a less troublesome lump to park than the other midsize panel vans in this class.
Even so, 1,375kg of maximum cargo dependent on spec still looks like plenty, while towing capacity is up to 2,300kg, so long as your trailer has brakes.

Chevy's Next Van Could Be a Rebadged Hyundai Staria 'Spaceship'

By signing up I agree to the Terms of Use and acknowledge that I have read the Privacy Policy . You may unsubscribe from email communication at anytime. General Motors might be about to replace its aging Express and Savana vans with something straight out of a sci-fi sketchbook. According to reports, Chevy's next light commercial vehicle could be a rebadged Hyundai Staria — the futuristic van currently sold in Asia and Europe. The move comes as GM deepens its product-sharing alliance with Hyundai, with five co-developed vehicles planned by 2028. It's a surprising turn for a brand more often associated with full-size pickups, muscle cars like the rumoured 1,000-horsepower Camaro ZL1 crossover, and giant EV trucks, but it could breathe life into a commercial lineup that's been stuck way back into the early 2000's. 1 / 2 Zoom In Launch Gallery A GM-Hyundai Partnership With Range Under the deal, Hyundai will provide the basic platform and drivetrain technology, while GM handles exterior design tweaks and the all-important Chevrolet badging. The Staria's space-age looks — tall beltline, wraparound glass, and cab-forward stance — would be a shock to traditional van buyers, but GM sees opportunity in offering something distinctive to fleets and small businesses. Hyundai has electric and hybrid versions ready, and an American-market Staria could sit alongside Chevy's other EV projects, including the record-setting Silverado EV, which recently covered more than 1,000 miles without charging. 1 / 2 Zoom In Launch Gallery From Spaceship to Showroom If it arrives in North America, the van could be built domestically starting in 2028, with passenger and cargo configurations aimed at both retail buyers and commercial operators. Hyundai's global Staria lineup includes all-electric PBV (purpose-built vehicle) variants and efficient turbo-hybrids — powertrains that would give Chevy a modern edge in a segment dominated by boxy, thirsty rivals. For Chevrolet, which still sells one of the cheapest cars in America alongside high-end sports cars, this sort of versatility is part of a broader strategy to cover more of the market without huge in-house development costs. 1 / 2 Zoom In Launch Gallery A Bold Bet on Style and Substance Whether American van buyers are ready for something that looks more like a Star Trek shuttle than a cargo hauler remains to be seen. Yet the move is somewhat sensible: GM gets a fresh, efficient, and safety-tech-packed product years sooner than it could develop one from scratch. For Hyundai, it's a way to push more volume through its PBV platform while reaching markets where it has little van presence. If Chevy can combine Hyundai's engineering with a price point and dealer network that makes sense, the 'spaceship van' might just succeed in a segment that rarely makes headlines. It features real engine sounds and beats, aiming to raise awareness of how summer car troubles can ruin plans. Matt Barker from the brand, said: 'With summer upon us, many of us depend on our cars to enjoy holidays, share day trips or head to important events. 'Sometimes problems seem to come out of nowhere – leading to disappointment and frustration from drivers and passengers alike. 'Use of a car health assistant and regular maintenance checks can help you to stay on top of things and alert you to potential issues. 'There are some simple checks we can do to ensure our car is in the best possible shape. Drivers are 'hit with $600 fees over invisible damage' to rental cars - Hertz is leading the pack as AI up claims 'And hopefully the lyrics to this track will help people to remember what to do.' The research also revealed a quarter of motorists have turned down an invite or travel plan simply because they didn't trust their car to make the journey. Of those affected by car issues, 20 per cent put it down to trying to 'make do' with older vehicles. But 18 per cent admitted they lack knowledge about car maintenance – and often ignore strange noises coming from their motor which in turn has contributed to disruption to plans. When it comes to the summer months specifically, more than one in 10 experienced overheating engines, while nine per cent admitted to suffering a full tyre blowout. But while 40 per cent try to stay on top of their car's health – they do sometimes miss things. With 30 per cent opting to go to a garage in the event of a minor issue, whereas a quarter (26 per cent) try to fix it themselves. Matt Barker from Vixa added: 'From missed holidays to disrupted weddings, summer car trouble can throw a real spanner in the works. 'Garage Bangers brings that message to life in a fun and relatable way. 'It's all about helping people enjoy the moments that matter — and making sure car trouble doesn't get in the way.'

Car Deal of the Day: Cupra Tavascan's head-turning looks for £295 a month

Distinctive looks; fun to drive Strong equipment levels; 353-mile range Just £294.90 a month Cupra may have a privileged position within the Volkswagen Group and build premium performance models, but don't go thinking that you'll be paying through the nose to have one. Our Deal of the Day goes to show you can have the stylish and upmarket Cupra Tavascan for less than its more restrained sister, the Volkswagen ID.5. And yet, judging by the Cupra's design and standard equipment list, you really wouldn't know that you'd bagged the cheaper model. Leasing Options is offering the Tavascan for a smidgen under £295 a month right now – some £15 cheaper than the ID.5. Naturally, there's an initial payment to sort first, and here it's £3,888.79. Mileage is capped at 5,000 a year, but you can get 8,000 a year for just under £21 extra a month. Advertisement - Article continues below You only get V1 trim with this deal, but remember Cupra is a premium offering, so the entry-level spec is no hardship. As standard, there are 19-inch alloys, LED headlights with 'signature' daytime running lights, a distinctive full-width rear LED lightbar and illuminated Cupra badge, puddle lamps that project the Cupra logo, a hands-free electric tailgate, a massive 15-inch central touchscreen with sat-nav and ChatGPT, a wireless phone charger, heated steering wheel, bucket front seats… the list goes on. Skip advert Advertisement - Article continues below There are two powertrain options with the Tavascan – rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive. Here, it's the former, so that means a 77kWh battery connected to a 282bhp motor. It's a quick car, capable of the 0-62mph sprint in 6.8 seconds. It's also quite engaging and feels noticeably sharper than its ID.5 sibling. The only real black mark is a brake pedal that feels a tad wooly, but you can say the same for a lot of the Cupra's rivals. The company claims 353 miles of range from the 77kWh battery pack, with efficiency coming to 4.1 miles per kWh. In our tests, we found that to be a little optimistic, but you should still get around 300 miles, and 135kW maximum DC charging means a 10-80 per cent top-up should take less than 30 mins.
