Yankees Keeping 'Close Eye' On Slugging $66M All-Star Blockbuster Trade Candidate
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources.
The New York Yankees need to find an upgrade in the infield. DJ LeMahieu has underperformed and his playing at second base has Jazz Chisholm Jr. playing third base, where he is not as strong a defender.
The Yankees could solve both of those problems by trading for a third baseman and moving Chisholm back to second base. MLB insider Bob Nightengale revealed that the Yankees are eyeing Eugenio Suárez at the trade deadline.
"The American League is wide open, and the Yankees are poised to take full advantage of the opportunity," Nightengale wrote for USA Today. "They badly need a third baseman or a second baseman, and realize there's 0% chance that the Red Sox answering their prayers by trading them Alex Bregman. They are keeping a close eye on Suarez and Kiner-Falefa, which would allow them to move Jazz Chisholm back to second base."

The Arizona Diamondbacks are in danger of falling out of contention before the July 31 trade deadline. They are still within striking distance of a postseason spot right now, but have some key players injured. Corbin Burnes and Corbin Carroll are both hurt, making it tougher to stay alive in the postseason race.
Suárez is a prime candidate to be dealt if the team decides to sell. He signed a seven-year, $66 million deal in 2018 and is playing on a club option this year. He will be a free agent after the season and has some good trade value. He is slashing .251/.323/.569 in 78 games. He leads the National League in RBI entering play on Wednesday. He has 25 home runs as well.
Adding his bat to the middle of the Yankees' lineup could go a long way in fixing their offensive woes. The veteran slugger has hit 301 career home runs and could help lead the Yankees through October. He is a former All-Star and can be an everyday third baseman.
Adding Suárez would essentially end LeMahieu's time as a starter for the Yankees. He has been on the team since 2019. He has played in 706 games for the Yankees. He has been an All-Star, two-time Silver Slugger and Gold Glover with the team. However, he is clearly out of his prime and likely better suited for a bench role.

Braves' Spencer Strider claps back at Juan Soto after Mets star complained about umpire's strikeout call
Print Close By Chantz Martin Published June 25, 2025 The New York Mets' struggles continued Tuesday night when they hosted their NL East division rivals. New York lost its third straight as temperatures soared to a record high at Citi Field. It was 97 degrees at first pitch, and the Braves' 7-4 win over the Mets turned out to be the hottest game on record at the Mets' home ballpark. Atlanta starter Spencer Strider pitched five innings, and he managed to strike out Juan Soto before he exited the game. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON Soto quickly expressed his displeasure after the home plate umpire called a third strike in the fifth inning. METS' NEWEST PITCHER CAPTURES ATTENTION OF BASEBALL FANS Strider tried to make it clear Soto had nothing to gripe about. As the Braves pitcher made his way to the dugout, he took a moment to inform Soto that the fastball he threw on a 3-2 count that appeared to land in the inside corner of the strike zone was "right down the middle." Strider repeated his argument three times. Soto drew a pair of walks in his two plate appearances before the fifth-inning strikeout. He grounded out in the eighth inning. Strider got the win Tuesday, improving to 3-5 on the season. After leading the National League in wins and receiving Cy Young Award votes in 2023, Strider appeared in just two games last season. He injured the ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow and underwent surgery last year. He missed the beginning of the 2025 campaign but has made eight starts since returning to the Braves rotation. CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP In the offseason, Soto agreed to a historic 15-year, $765 million contract with the Mets, the most lucrative contract in professional sports history. He's delivered 17 home runs and 43 RBIs in 79 games this season. Follow Fox News Digital's sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter. Print Close URL
