Fair Grove, Logan-Rogersville fall short of winning first baseball state titles
OZARK–Between Fair Grove and Logan-Rogersville High School baseball teams, the Ozarks was well represented at the MSHSAA baseball state championships, on Thursday. However, both teams were outdueled in their title games and will have to wait another year to try and capture their program's first state championship. The Eagles kicked off the day by battling the Fatima Comets in the Class 3 State Championship. Senior pitcher, Spensar Sieger took the bump for Fair Grove, and performed about as well as any pitcher could, in the biggest game of his career. Sieger went 6 2/3 innings, only gave up two runs, both runs came in the top of the 3rd, and struckout six hitters. At the plate, the Eagles had their chances with several runners in scoring position, but never could scratch out a run. That was the key difference in the outcome. The State Runner-Up finish is the first time Fair Grove has placed at the state tournament. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ In the championship nightcap, Logan-Rogersville and Chillicothe squared off for the Class 4 state title. And from the jump, the Hornets bats were connecting and driving in runs. Chillicothe plated two runs in the top of the first, then put up more crooked numbers over the next two frames to lead 9-1, after just three innings of play. However, the Wildcats furiously fought back and rallied to close the gap to 9-7 in the bottom of the 6th, but that's as far as their comeback effort got. In the end, Logan-Rogersville lost by the same score to earn its second Runner-Up finish in Class 4. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
