2.1 Challenge action expected at Victory Raceway
Round 5 of the Victory Raceway dirt oval championship takes place at their circuit on Victoria Drive on Saturday and incorporates a 2.1 Modifieds Challenge that is set to attract the region's 2.1-litre top drivers.
East London's Jody van Zummeren will be in attendance along with fellow Border driver Douglas Bailing, and they will be up against current SA champion Burger van der Westhuizen in his SA1-numbered car as well as local star Damon Miles in the SA2 with Malcolm Els, Rimon Landman and Johan Knoesen among the entries.
The classes that will be competing along with the 2.1 Modifieds are the V8 American Saloons, 1600 Saloons, 1660 Modified Saloons, Heavy Metals and Hot Rods.
Gates open to the public at 1pm with trackside parking available at a cost of R50 and racing starts at 5pm, an hour earlier than usual as winter approaches.

Having bundled out the Baggy Greens for 212 runs in the final session, the SA team looked to be in the driving seat, but they lost their first four wickets for just 30 runs. Ryan Rickelton, who made 16 runs, was the only member of the Proteas' top five who hit double figures, as they were left flailing in the chase for South Africa's first global Test title. When stumps were drawn, captain Temba Bavuma was on three not out, after facing 37 balls as he tried to play out the day, and David Bedingham was unbeaten on eight. Australia first innings Earlier, Kagiso Rabada led the charge as the Proteas frontline attack ripped through Australia's line-up after the SA team won the toss and opted to field. Rabada took 5/51 – his 17th career five-wicket haul – and his second at Lord's, after he achieved the feat against England in August 2022. And he was well backed by Marco Jansen, who returned 3/49, as the Baggy Greens were bundled out 212 within 57 overs in their first innings. After losing four wickets in the first session, Steve Smith and Beau Webster shared 79 runs for the fifth wicket before Smith was removed by Marco Jansen for 66 to break the stand. Webster went on to contribute 72 runs, but Rabada and Jansen dismantled the lower order shortly after lunch, and it looked like Australia were in trouble before their bowling attack hit back.

But Jansen ensured those concerns could be dealt with in a more relaxed fashion at the interval as he returned for his second spell from the Pavilion End, picking up Labuschagne, who pushed at a delivery that for the most part he'd been leaving alone. Badela takes charge at Chippa United
Chippa United have appointed former Sundowns Academy coach and Wydad AC assistant coach Sinethemba Badela as their new head coach. Though his previous stay was short, Badela is not new to the Chilli Boys' camp. In 2021, he was Lehlohonolo Seema's assistant coach at Chippa for six matches. The club announced the 35-year-old's appointment in a statement posted on their social media platforms. 'We are proud to announce the appointment of Sinethemba Badela as the new head coach of Chippa United Football Club, ahead of what promises to be a defining season,' it said. Chippa said Badela, who is from Sterkspruit in the Eastern Cape, would bring some international experience to the club. 'This marks his first appointment as a head coach in the Premier Soccer League, a moment of pride not just for him, but for us as a club. 'We have built a reputation for giving young and emerging coaches the opportunity to lead, choosing innovation over recycling and purpose over familiarity. 'Football is evolving, and so are we.' Badela, who was Rulani Mokwena's assistant coach for the Morocco side, replaced Thabo September. September, 42, one of Chippa's longest-serving coaches, spent 18 months with the Betway Premiership side. The former SuperSport United coach opted not to renew his contract at the end of June, after he was told he would be assisting a new coach for next season. The Chilli Boys finished just outside the top-eight bracket with 31 points from 28 matches in the recently completed season.
