Sunday storms could bring hail, tornadoes: Predictions from NWS, Accuweather, Weather Channel

Storms set to impact at least 100 million people across the country this weekend have local meteorologists warning of damaging winds and isolated tornadoes in Indiana.
Meteorologist Jason Puma told IndyStar warmer temperatures will be present Friday with a high of 78 degrees ahead of the storm system with cooler temperatures lowering to the 70s by the time the storms reach the area.
The temperatures will drop to the 40s and 50s next Monday and Tuesday, before warming up again to the 60s with more rain and thunderstorms going into the middle of next week.

National Weather Service said there's a 90% chance of rain with thunderstorms after 11 a.m. The high will be near 72 degrees with south wind between 10 to 15 mph. Gusts could get as high as 28 mph. Rainfall amounts will reach between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, except higher amounts are possible in thunderstorms.
That same chance of rain is ongoing Sunday night with thunderstorms possible before 2 a.m. The low will be 44 degrees with south and southwest winds going 11 mph. Gusts could get as high as 23 mph. New rainfall amounts between a half and three-quarters of an inch are also possible.
Along with an enhanced risk for strong winds, and possible tornadoes, National Weather Service (NWS) Indianapolis said there's a slight risk of 1-inch hail and localized flooding.
Severe thunderstorms are likely for much of Indiana on Sunday. Meteorologists predict large hail, damaging winds, and strong tornadoes (EF2 or higher damage), according to an article on Weather.com citing information from NOAA's Storm Prediction Center. That includes St. Louis, Indianapolis, Little Rock, Louisville, Memphis and Nashville.
Severe thunderstorms will create a risk of destructive winds and tornadoes across states, according to Accuweather.

Chief Meteorologist Brian Wilkes is tracking warming temperatures and chances for thunderstorms heading into the weekend. While showers will be around this weekend, Wilkes said there will be gaps of rain-free time on Saturday with a high of 68 degrees, with most of those showers and thunderstorms happening Sunday with a high of 70.
The station is also reporting "stronger, if not severe" storms in the state being possible Sunday.
Tornado Watch: Be Prepared. Tornadoes are possible in and near the watch area. Review and discuss your emergency plans and check supplies and your safe room. Be ready to act quickly if a warning is issued or you suspect a tornado is approaching. Acting early helps to save lives. Watches are issued by the Storm Prediction Center for counties where tornadoes may occur. The watch area is typically large, covering numerous counties or even states.
Tornado Warning: Take Action. A tornado has been sighted or indicated by weather radar. There is imminent danger to life and property. Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If in a mobile home, a vehicle, or outdoors, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris. Warnings are issued by your local forecast office. Warnings typically encompass a much smaller area (around the size of a city or small county) that may be impacted by a tornado identified by a forecaster on radar or by a trained spotter/law enforcement who is watching the storm.
Severe Thunderstorm Watch: Severe thunderstorms are possible in and near the watch area. Stay informed and be ready to act if a severe thunderstorm warning is issued. The watch area is typically large, covering numerous counties or even states.
Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Take Action. Severe weather has been reported by spotters or indicated by radar. Warnings indicate imminent danger to life and property. Take shelter in a substantial building. Get out of mobile homes that can blow over in high winds. Warnings typically encompass a much smaller area (around the size of a city or small county) that may be impacted by a large hail or damaging wind identified by an NWS forecaster on radar or by a trained spotter/law enforcement who is watching the storm.
