'Law & Order' & 'SVU' Renewed for Fall on NBC

Yahoo09-05-2025

Is Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU coming back in the fall? That's the question fans have been asking NBC as the shows awaited their fate for the 2025-2026 television season.
NBCUniversal's 2025 Upfront Presentation isn't scheduled until Monday, May 12, but Variety confirmed the fate of the two beloved Dick Wolf series. Law & Order is expected to return for its 25th season and SVU will be back for its 27th season. They were the last of Wolf's shows to get renewed after all three of the "One Chicago" series learned that they were returning for another year on May 5.
If that wasn't enough, Christopher Meloni is also keeping Wolf Entertainment's legacy thriving on Peacock with Law & Order: Organized Crime, which is currently in its fifth season. The Law & Order cast, including Hugh Dancy, Tony Goldwyn, Odelya Halevi, Mehcad Brooks, Reid Scott, and Maura Tierney, are expected to be back. But, SVU will see some cast changes.
Mariska Hargitay, Ice T, and Peter Scanavino are coming back, but Juliana Martinez, who plays Detective Kate Silva, and Octavio Pisano, who plays Detective Joe Velasco, are out for Season 27. No reason was given for their departure and neither actor has commented about their exit so far.
As one of the most prolific broadcast network creators, Wolf has also been a pioneer in the procedural drama space.
'It's very comforting to know absolutely what the legacy will be into the future,' he told Variety in 2022. 'This company has produced and has clear ownership [stakes] in the longest-running dramas in the history of television. I don't think anybody's ever gonna catch us. And it ain't over.'

Sydney Sweeney to sell soap made with her bathwater

(WTVO) — Fans of the Euphoria actress Sydney Sweeney are clamoring for a chance to lather up with soap that contains drops of her bathwater. The soap was created after the movie star partnered with Dr. Squatch, a well-known natural body care brand. The soap, entitled Sydney's Bathwater Bliss, is priced at $8 per bar. 'People feel connected and free to be able to speak about me in whatever way they want, because they believe that I've signed my life away, Sweeney told Variety in March 2024. 'That I'm not on a human level anymore, because I'm an actor. That these characters are for everybody else, but then, me as Sydney is not for me anymore. It's this weird relationship that people have with me that I have no control or say over.' The collaboration comes after fans could not stop asking for a special Sweeney-inspired soap. 'In collaboration with Sydney Sweeney, we created a limited-edition soap infused with her ACTUAL bathwater. Why? Because y'all wouldn't stop asking. And Sydney said, 'Let's do it.' (what a legend),' Dr. Squatch's Instagram post announced. Fans can expect to be able to buy the bathwater-infused soap on June 6th. Dr. Squatch will be giving 100 fans a free bar in a competition. File Photo by Jim Ruymen/UPI | License Photo May 31 (UPI) -- Patti LuPone has apologized for her recent remarks about her fellow Broadway stars Kecia Lewis and Audra Mcdonald after hundreds of members of the New York theater community attempted to get LuPone disinvited to the Tony Awards. "For as long as I have worked in the theatre, I have spoken my mind and never apologized. That is changing today," LuPone said in an Instagram post Saturday. "I am deeply sorry for the words I used during The New Yorker interview, particularly about Kecia Lewis, which were demeaning and disrespectful," she added, referring to comments that appeared at the end of a wide-ranging article published online May 26. "I regret my flippant and emotional responses during this interview, which were inappropriate, and I am devastated that my behavior has offended others and has run counter to what we hold dear in this community. I hope to have a chance to speak to Audra [McDonald] and Kecia personally to offer my sincere apologies." Variety said an open letter -- signed by about 500 people connected to the New York theater community -- made the rounds Friday, condemning LuPone's remarks and asking the organizers of the Tony Awards to ban her from Broadway's biggest night.
