Inside the mind of Scottie Scheffler as superstars pal reveals s**t talks of Open champion in waiting
Jordan Spieth has lifted the lid on Scottie Scheffler 's s**t talks as he saluted his magical pal.
The American ace poured praise onto the runaway Open leader as he bore down on the title at Royal Portrush.
Scheffler opened eyes this week when he talked about golf not being fulfilling and how he couldn't work out how he got so worked up about winning events.
But Spieth gave an insight into the personality behind the player as he chatted about bounce games with the World No.1.
He said: 'Well, he has that unique ability to, from best I can tell, to separate. But again, when I see him, I'm at the golf course.
"I see him here and there off the course, but when we're playing on the course at home, he s**t talks.
"He's very witty. You can't really go at him because he's smart, and he's got good bullshit.
'I mean, it's not necessarily just to me. It's normally the other people that we're playing with.
"But yeah, not that I want to say it, I'm not going to quote him on that kind of stuff.
'But then when a tournament starts, he's incredibly competitive, as you see. He's kind of plotting along.
"You won't see that much emotion as he continues to strike it like this because the only time you're going to see it is when he's on the greens if he misses putts because he's not missing many shots.
'I wouldn't necessarily think that the golf swing makes as much of a difference as the personality match. I'm thinking about so many other sports and Nikola Jokic is the only guy I can think of that's a superstar that's equally unassuming in any sport in the modern era, and I'm happy if anybody else can find another example, but it's very rare. Most people lean into it and take advantage of it.'
Tennis icon Roger Federer was put forward as a potential name and Spieth added: 'He's maybe the same kind of demeanor and person.
"As a person he's different, but he made more off the court than he did on all the time and he cared to. When Scottie is done playing, he's not going to show back up at tournaments. I can promise you that.'
Spieth left Portrush without the Claret Jug, but he's got targets for the rest of the season and will, of course, return to the scene of his 2017 Open triumph next summer at Royal Birkdale.
He said: 'I think here and there are the two most similar Open venues that are different from the rest because I think that they're played more from the air than they are true links on the ground. There's not many areas that you can bounce and run it up at either course.
'In that way, I at least know what is expected. But it'll be really cool to just go out there and play the course again. I haven't been there since, it'll be cool to relive the memories that I had from the whole week and obviously the last five holes or so.
'That was probably the best, most clutch stretch of golf that I ever played. Anytime I'll go back there in the future. I remember exactly what I was looking at. I remember how I felt. It'll come right back to me.'

Riverdance star Michael Flatley will seek nomination to become Ireland's next president. An affidavit signed by his solicitor states he is 'to seek nominations'. The election must take place in the 60 days before President Higgins' term ends, and is expected to be held in late October. Military museum plans street party to mark VJ day anniversary
A military museum hunting for a new home has unveiled plans to mark the 80th anniversary of VJ Day with a street party. West Lothian's military museum has seen an upsurge in visitors and wider support in the month since it was revealed that it will have to relocate from its current home in the grounds of the war-blind veterans' estate at Linburn, Wilkieston. And museum owner Ian Inglis revealed they hoped to attract more crowds. He said: 'We will be open as normal on the 15 of August, from 10am to 4pm. We will have a special exhibition on the far east campaign including a diorama of Bridge over the River Kwai, made by our resident modeller. Normal entry fees apply to the museum. 'We will also be having a street party between 11am to 4pm, and anyone is welcome to come along, there is no charge for that.' He added that tea/coffee/ juice will be supplied but people should bring along food. There is no charge, but all donations are welcome. Ian also revealed there would be a talk by best-selling author Mary Monro, who's book Stranger in My Heart tells the remarkable story of her father's escape from the Japanese occupiers of Hong Kong. Ms Monro will be at the museum on the day signing copies of the book. Ian told the Local Democracy Reporting Service: 'Mary Monro wrote about her dad's exploits in WWII. He was captured by the Japanese in Hong Kong and sent to a POW camp. 'He did manage to escape from the camp. It's a fantastic book; there will be a few copies there to purchase that will be signed by the author.' Founded by Ian, who served in the Royal Artillery, largely around his own collection of militaria the museum has become an award-winning attraction. The museum has also become a community hub for local veterans and hosts weekly breakfasts and other events to keep ex-servicemen and women connected. The museum is also staffed by ex-service volunteers. 'We're not just a museum we're more than that, we' re unique education resource. We we have the veterans' hub as well. It would be ideal if we could stay locally, we don't want to move to far away, we'd like to stay within easy access to the bridges.' Such has been the success of the museum the search has been on for a while for a new home in the area. That hunt has gathered new urgency since the charity which owns Linburn – Sight Scotland Veterans – announced their intention to sell the estate for housing development. The museum features indoors and outdoors exhibits of equipment, uniforms, vehicles, and even a First World War trench display. Somewhere nearby for a new home would be ideal as a new home, as Ian pointed out. The museum's growth in popularity draws visitors from across the UK and the world. Earlier this month an American family, rolled up from Edinburgh airport taking time out before checking into their hotel. 'We get a lot of that, and people going to the airport,' he said. CNN hosts left horrified as guest's backflip goes wrong in live TV mishap
A CNN guest required several stitches after an attempted backflip went horribly wrong live on air, with the presenters cutting to a commercial break after the accident A CNN broadcast went horribly awry yesterday when a guest fell face-first onto the floor after attempting a backflip live on air. Baseball player RobertAnthony Cruz was appearing on the show to chat about why backflips had become one of the nation's favourite hobbies. However, before the American channel's segment, the athlete attempted to do a backflip live on air - but spectacularly failed. Landing face first on the ground, presenter Kate Bolduan could be heard saying: "Oh Jesus." RobertAnthony rose from the floor and said: "That never happens." As concerned gasps could be heard from the rest of the studio, co-presenter John Berman tried to carry on with the segment. "That - that what you just saw there, is a brand new twist on America's favourite pastime." The presenters were then seen stifling awkward laughs as RobertAnthony composed himself. The show cut to commercial with John saying: "When we come back, hopefully we will hear from Coach RAC on all of his stunts." However, RobertAnthony did not return after the break. John told viewers: "All right. Our new friend Coach Rac, just so you know, is doing well. "And it only adds to the legend of the Savannah Bananas, whom you should absolutely check out at a stadium if you can get a ticket." After his time on CNN, RobertAnthony posted a video on TikTok, where he appeared to be icing a busted lip with dried blood on it. Explaining that he had appeared in New York for the CNN taping at 23am from Houston, RobertAnthony said that he was operating on just four hours sleep. "I have done tens of thousands of backflips in my life," he said. "I had zero reason to doubt my abilities." He added that he "didn't even know how that happened" and theorised that the accident may have happened after a camera light flashed while he was mid-air. "Aside from my damaged pride, I didn't sustain any serious injuries," he confirmed, adding that he was checked over by a doctor on-site and received several stitches after damaging his lips and chin.
