People should identify, expose terrorists, their facilitators in Balochistan, says DG ISPR
The military spokesperson said this during a special session with students participating in the ongoing internship programme organised by the ISPR.
During the session, an in-depth discussion was held regarding Pakistan, particularly focusing on Balochistan.
The ISPR director general answered in detail the questions asked by students belonging to Balochistan.
To a query, demanding a major operation against terrorism in Balochistan, wherein door-to-door inspection is suggested, Lt Gen Chaudhry said the punishment for one person's terrorism cannot be given to an entire area or village.
An operation in any area can only succeed when the public itself identifies terrorists, he said.
'It's not effective for the army to simply clear an area, conduct an operation, and then leave — as terrorists may return afterward. We must expose terrorists, their facilitators, and planners,' he said, adding that everything must be done wisely; 'that's why it's called intelligence-based operations (IBOs)'.
The army has no interest in harming innocent civilians under the guise of counterterrorism, he maintained.
However, the lieutenant general also warned, any citizen who shelters terrorists or stores explosives in their home will have to face the consequences.
'We are made to believe that something is brewing in the minds of the people and youth of Balochistan against Pakistan.'
The people of Balochistan fully understand the relationship between the province and Pakistan, he said.
DG ISPR Chaudhry said the local people are standing up and must do so against terrorism and they are now identifying terrorists and their facilitators.
'They are fed up and weary of these terrorists. Visit Balochistan and see how wise and forward-thinking the Baloch people are,' he noted.
The DG ISPR reminded that every day, Pakistani officers, soldiers, and civilians are sacrificing their lives to keep the country free.
Speaking of an army officer belonging to Balochistan, Major Muhammad Anwar Kakar (Shaheed), he said Kakar was a brilliant officer and a great son of the soil.
'He had earlier sent several terrorists to hell during the PC Hotel Gwadar attack,' he said.
Chaudhry highlighted that countless success stories manifested that educated Baloch youth have become masters of their own fate.
'Samad Yar Jung, a renowned scientist from Balochistan, is a graduate of Cambridge University and an alumnus of Buleda School. Karate champion Shahzaib Rind, also from Balochistan, has carved his own destiny. Baloch girls are now serving as deputy commissioners in their districts.'

Germany urges Pakistan to allow back over 200 expelled Afghans
BERLIN: Berlin said Monday that more than 200 Afghans waiting to be offered sanctuary in Germany had been deported by Pakistan to their Taliban-run home country in recent days. The German government was urging Islamabad to allow them back, said foreign ministry spokesman Josef Hinterseher, as an aid group voiced alarm for their fate and those of others. The deportees are part of a group previously offered refuge in Germany but now caught between Chancellor Friedrich Merz's tougher immigration policy and a wave of expulsions from Pakistan. Pakistani police had recently arrested 'around 450' Afghans who were previously accepted under the German scheme for people at risk from the Taliban, Hinterseher told reporters. It also included people deemed particularly threatened by the Taliban, including journalists and human rights activists. However, the programme has been put on hold as part of a stricter immigration policy brought in under Merz, who took office in May, leaving some 2,000 Afghans stranded in Pakistan waiting for German visas. Pakistan first launched a deportation drive in 2023 and renewed it in April when it rescinded hundreds of thousands of residence permits for Afghans, threatening to arrest those who did not leave. Eva Beyer from the Airbridge Kabul initiative set up to help those affected told AFP that the deportees now faced a 'critical situation'. She said that 'around 350 people', including those freed from the camps over the weekend, were still at risk of deportation. 'Visa procedures have been frozen since May, nothing's been happening since then,' she said. The German government says the programme is still under review despite a court ruling last month which found that it had a 'legally binding commitment' to give visas to those who had been accepted. Pakistan rupee continues upward momentum, marks 7th consecutive gain against US dollar
Rupee's Performance Against US Dollar Since 04 March 2025 Pakistani rupee started the week positive, marking its 7th consecutive gain against the US dollar. The local currency appreciated by 0.01% in the inter-bank market on Monday. At close, the rupee settled at 282.02, a gain of Re0.04. On Friday, the local unit had closed the session at 282.06. The rupee has maintained a positive trajectory against the greenback in recent days on account of improved sentiment in the currency market amid an ongoing crackdown by law enforcement agencies against illegal currency dealers and smugglers. During the previous week, the Pakistani rupee continued its merry run against the US dollar in the inter-bank market as it gained Re0.41 or 0.14%. The local unit closed at 282.06, against 282.47 it had closed the week earlier against the greenback, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). Internationally, the US dollar dithered on Monday ahead of a key meeting between US President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskiyy, while investors also looked ahead to the Federal Reserve's Jackson Hole symposium for more policy clues. Currency moves were largely subdued in the early Asia session, though the dollar steadied after last week's fall as traders further pared back bets of a jumbo Fed cut next month. The euro was little changed at $1.1705, while sterling edged up 0.07% to $1.3557. Against a basket of currencies, the US dollar advanced slightly to 97.85, after losing 0.4% last week. CM Bugti, independence day terror plot foiled, professor arrested over alleged BLA links
Security forces have foiled a major terrorist attack that was planned for August 14 allegedly by the proscribed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), implicating a university professor as facilitator. 'This was not just an attack—it was part of a larger plan to break Pakistan and destabilize Balochistan. Our agencies acted swiftly and crushed their conspiracy," said Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, addressing a press conderence in Quetta on Monday. BLA's Majeed Brigade employs multiple tactics, said Bugti, adding that the group has claimed responsibility for previous terrorist attacks as well. The arrested suspect, identified as Professor Usman Qazi, holds a PhD in Pakistan Studies and was a government employee, Bugti told the media. Qazi, who is currently under interrogation, allegedly admitted to his involvement with the BLA on video and shared details of how he became associated with the proscribed group. He was then contacted by Hebtan alias Kalak, who recruited him for BLA and subsequently introduced him to Basheer Zaib and the group's regional commander, Sher Dil. Qazi was allegedly in communication with Dil via encrypted messaging app Telegram. On video, Qazi said that his first assignment was to provide medical assistance to Dil. He further said that he gave shelter to the man who carried out a suicide bombing on Quetta Railway Station. Around 2,000 to 2,500 government employees have come under investigation as part of counterterrorism measures in the province, said Bugti, addding that a dedicated cell has been established to deal specifically with matters related to terrorism. 'Deprived how?' Addressing the media, Bugti rejected the notion that Balochistan is deprived in any way. "To those who insist Balochistan is deprived, I ask - in what way was this professor deprived?" The CM negated such sentiments as "propaganda". He warned the people of Balochistan against joining organisations like the BLA, asking parents to keep an eye on their children. Bugti further said that the government of Balochistan was taking all measures to eliminate terrorism from the province in coordination with the security forces. "We are the state, not terrorists," he said. The CM further asserted that the government would not be intimidated by extremist elements. Those who commit terrorism in the name of Baloch identity must also be included within the ambit of the National Action Plan along with extremist militants.
