Al Ustad Special Kebab, a renowned Iranian kebab house on Mankhool Street in Bur Dubai, has been a local favourite since its opening in 1978. Celebrated for its yoghurt-marinated chicken and mutton kebabs, it is one of Dubai's oldest restaurants and continues to impress with its flavourful skewers.
The family-run eatery, led by three brothers, is also known for its very funky interiors, featuring over 8,000 photos and memorabilia of celebrities and Dubai royalty. A highlight is the 'Special Kebab', marinated for hours and served with Iranian-style rice. Al Ustad offers authentic Iranian kebabs at affordable prices, making it a must-visit 46 years on.

Barasti

Opening in its original form in 1995, Barasti is the city's original beach club, bar and pub, all in one. And it's still one of the most popular. Though when it opened Barasti was far from the sprawling venue it is today; back in the 90s, it was a swimming pool beside the beach with a hut where live musicians would play acoustic sets by the sunset.
Today, the beach bar is open every day and attracts people from all walks of life. If you're looking for a laid-back bar to wear your flip-flops (or heels), Barasti is your go-to.

Bu Qtair

Bu Qtair, to the uninitiated, may not look like a must-visit dining destination in Dubai but looks can be deceiving. Glitz and glamour are certainly off the menu at this fairly basic eatery, but turn up for a bite to eat and you will join a lengthy queue full of hungry hordes who know all about Bu Qtair's reputation for seafood excellence. The price depends on the type of fish and how much your order is, but satisfaction is pretty much guaranteed to follow, regardless of what you get.
The family-run venue first opened in the early 1980s and is located just off Umm Suqeim Fishing Harbour. Try it for yourself. You'll be hooked.

Boardwalk

One spot that's been around for decades is Boardwalk. At 30 years old, it has certainly aged well since opening its doors in 1994. With epic views over Dubai Creek and a food menu that still draws in crowds, if you haven't been yet, you need to add this to your list.
The Mediterranean-themed menu is vast, including everything from fresh pizzas to an extensive fresh fish and seafood selection set out to reflect markets of the Med, which you can pick and have made to your preference. With an extensive grape menu and vantage point for some of the best sunsets in Dubai, this is one of the city's most famous restaurants for good reason.

Fibber Magee's

Throwing open its doors back in 1996, this Irish pub has always prided itself on its authenticity. Though the bar touts itself as 'Dubai's best-kept secret' we don't know many people who haven't stepped through the doors here for the last 28 years at least once.
With a simple, no-fuss menu (including hearty pies and stews), plus a variety of hops on draft, this is your go-to for a friendly night out – or great breakfast.

Golden Dragon

Another blast from the very long-ago past. Founded in 1976, Golden Dragon in Oud Metha was the UAE's first-ever Chinese restaurant. Known for its Szechuan and Cantonese dishes, the restaurant's extensive menu also embraces a range of Asian influences from Malaysia to Thailand. Golden Dragon is especially celebrated for its dim sum and wok-tossed dishes.
And 48 years later, it is a hot spot for Chinese food-lovers in the old-school neighbourhood.

Miyako

Opening its doors in 1987, Miyako is seen as one of Dubai's first Japanese restaurants. Sticking to its strict code of serving only Japanese cuisine, not diluting its menu with other Asian dishes and employing Japanese staff, Miyako is the place to check out if you want something super authentic.
Although relatively small, this ambient, serene eatery feels open and expansive, yet intimate and warm at the same time. And while there's beauty aplenty in the decor, it's the food that underlines Miyako's brilliance 37 years later.

Ravi

This Pakistani restaurant is definitely a Dubai institution. The unassuming eatery, which has been open for 46 years now, may lack the glamour of newer dining destinations in this city, but here you will find excellent food that will transport your taste buds from the middle of Satwa to the dusty streets of Lahore.
Thanks to its rich and flavour-packed affordable curries, dhals, biryanis and much more, Ravi has been right at the top of the Dubai food chain since 1978. Long may it reign.

Sind Punjab
Founded in 1977, Sind Punjab is a well-known (and well-loved) Indian Mughlai restaurant in Dubai. It is one of the best spots in Deira for butter chicken, chicken tikka and amazing street-side snacks like paani puri and sev puri.
Sind Punjab initially opened 47 years ago in Bur Dubai and now has branches in Karama and Dubai Internet City. Definitely worth checking out for a little bit of nostalgia and positive energy.

The Irish Village

Nestled under the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Stadium, this sprawling pub was opened in 1996 to feed and water sports fans. 28 years later, this venue is still serving up good vibes year-round and not just to those watching the tennis.
Known for its large garden, this is a crowd-pleasing venue that has a loyal (if not cult) following, so much so that it has its own gift shop.

It's the unlikeliest trend of the summer. Young men in Britain are rushing to the barbers to get themselves a haircut inspired by the look of Jack Kay - the party-goer whose iconic barnet saw him dubbed the 'Ibiza Final Boss' and propelled him to internet stardom. The Lego-style haircut - dubbed the 'Scouse trim' - is characterised as short on the sides, cut well away from the ear and combed to the front. And now we can reveal how the style which Kay made famous is being asked for at barbers across Britain after Kay's instant fame. Kay, also known as 'Ibiza Bob', went viral after he was filmed 'cutting shapes' on the party island with a gold chain, sunglasses and a baby pink cup in his hand. When he first appeared on phone screens around the country earlier this week, many were shocked to discover his locks were not in fact a hat. The hairstyle, coupled with his shades, gold chain, man bag and huge build, became an instantly-shareable hit - and barbers have told the Daily Mail it is now seeing a surge in popularity. Meanwhile, Kay revealed on Instagram today he has tidied up his trim as he heads back to Ibiza for more partying after just one day back in the UK. A barber at Razortrim Studio in Birmingham told the Mail that five or six customers had already asked for the haircut since the video went viral. One of the barbers shared a video of a customer receiving the haircut yesterday. They said: 'A lot of people are asking for it and ask us to take a video. 'There are a lot of people wanting to get the haircut for a laugh. We have done five or six so far. 'Our standard price is £15 for a haircut and we have being doing this trim for standard price.' Fans have been taking to TikTok to tell followers how they can create the look for themselves. Cian Kennedy rebranded the 'Scouse Trim' the 'yup trim' for Irish lads getting the iconic haircut. He said: 'Everyone has been asking me how to get the yup trim to look so good. 'Before you do anything, you are going to want to go to your barber and ask for a mid skin fade and a combover fringe. TikTok star Cian Kennedy showed his followers how to get the 'scouse' or 'yup' trim 'Just like that, boys, the trim has happened - we got the yup skin fade and combover fringe, but we just have to follow a couple more steps when we get home to get the 10 out of 10 yup trim. 'When you get home, the first thing you're going to want to do is have a shower and towel dry your hair. 'After you towel dry your hair, this is when you are going to need your little friend, your hairbrush. 'You are going to get your hairbrush all the way from the back of your hair and comb it all across so it is literally stuck to your forehead. On the Beach has unveiled new adverts featuring the haircut disguised as a parasol on an idyllic beach - cashing in on the meme 'Next, it needs to be sharp and crisp. The ads include the hilarious lines such as: 'Hastings to Ibiza from £295pp, Haircut not included' and 'Face the Final Boss, Ibiza from £295pp'. Spokeswoman Zoe Harris said: 'If Jack's "Ibiza final boss" barnet can turn heads faster than a DJ drops the bass, then it will certainly get people's attention on advertising boards. 'The famous mop is now being used to sell our incredible deals to the closing parties in September and October. That's trimmed down prices for holidays that are a cut above the rest.' She added: 'Ibiza is such a popular spot for Brits and we have no doubt that this viral moment will lead to more people booking to go out to throw some shapes on the many dancefloors across the island.' On the day the Ibiza Final Boss went viral on social media, bookings to the island rose by 48 per cent day on day - and On the Beach told of expecting a further increase as attentions turn towards closing parties. Kay's own social media following has exploded, with his TikTok account - labelled 'IBIZA FINAL BOSS' - picking up almost 20,000 followers, while a newly created Instagram has 27,000. Earlier this week, Jack has broken his silence on his new-found fame, taking to Instagram to announce he was just a 'normal person from Newcastle'. He told his followers: 'Appreciate all the love and messages of everyone. I will get back to everyone quick [as] I can. The muscular champ is covered in tattoos and sports bright white teeth as he dons the iconic bob 'It's just a lot for me to take in at the moment. I am just a normal person from Newcastle. It's crazy, stay locked in, got some big news coming.' He went on to share a picture with Tony Truman, the co-owner of Ocean Beach Ibiza nightclub. Other details have since come to light about Jack's life back in the UK after a woman has now claimed she is his girlfriend. After the pair were chosen to co-host the rebooted MasterChef in 2005, John Torode and Gregg Wallace formed what quickly became one of the most iconic duos in British TV. But their partnership was torn apart in recent weeks after 45 complaints were upheld against Wallace, which included one for "unwelcome physical contact" and three involving a state of undress. Meanwhile, soon after Wallace's demise his co-host Torode saw one allegation of racism upheld against him, leading to his dismissal. Torode has passionately denied the allegation of racism and has expressed his shock and sadness.
