Thief Takes Ferrari, Three Other Cars Cars As Family Sleeps, Police Say
An Australian family slept as a thief emptied their entire 4-car garage that contained $1 million AUD, or about $650,000 in USD, worth of cars. According to Victoria Police, the crime took place over the course of about three hours. The alleged theft took place in the Melbourne, Victoria, Australia suburb Balwyn North on August 15. According to police, at approximately 1:30 am that morning a thief broke into the home and stole four sets of car keys. He also swiped a wallet and a pair of air pods, but the car keys were the main prize. As the family slept the thief took a 2019 Ferrari 488 Pista out of their garage. The 710-horsepower collectible supercar can be worth well over $500K. But the man was not satisfied with that score, so he returned and took a 2024 BMW M3 Wagon. Then he came back for a third time for a 2009 Mercedes CLS63. You might think that after taking those high-powered luxury cars the thief would be done for the night. However, the cold-blooded crook completed his heist when he made off with the family's 2011 BMW 135i. At this time, none of the cars have been recovered and no arrests have been made. Police have released an image of the suspect as well as the stolen Ferrari and BMW.
