That means the likes of Liverpool, Man United and even
Barcelona
are no longer officially world champions.
The Club World Cup had its roots back in 2000 before making a grand return in 2005 and going annual until 2023.
In a dramatic overhaul, the competition expanded to 32 teams for the first time this summer.
Before Chelsea's win on Sunday, four English clubs had lifted the trophy.

Donald Trump reveals he's keeping Club World Cup trophy after gatecrashing Chelsea celebrations as Blues get replica
It wasn't just the game that turned heads,
Donald Trump
made an unexpected appearance, with his First Lady Melania and Fifa boss
Gianni Infantino
in tow.
The President, who was given the royal treatment took centre stage during the trophy presentation.
Trump, visibly out of his element, was booed by parts of the crowd. But he took it all in stride even handing Robert Sanchez the tournament's Golden Glove Award.
Then came an awkward moment between Trump and Chelsea's hero of the match,
Cole Palmer
.
Lip-read expert Jeremy Freeman claims Trump praised Palmer for his performance, saying: "Chelsea's biggest fan. I'm a big fan of you. So well done, you."
Palmer, known for being shy with the press, responded simply with a polite
'
Thank you' before heading back to his team.
The most bizarre moment came when Trump, not reading the room, refused to leave the stage after handing the trophy to Chelsea captain
Reece James
.
Fifa's Gianni Infantino could be seen frantically trying to
usher
Trump off, but the President wasn't budging, standing
next
to the players as they tried to celebrate.
James, in a moment of confusion, asked Trump for permission to lift the trophy.

Second Test ratings: Jamison Gibson-Park and Hugo Keenan top men as Lions clinch series
The British and Irish Lions wrapped up a first Test series win since 2013 as they beat Australia 29-26 in Sydney. It took a last-gasp Hugo Keenan try to down the Wallabies, who looked a completely different outfit from the opening defeat. Here's how we rated the Lions players. 15. Hugo Keenan – 8 The Ireland full-back will go down in legend as the series-winning try-scorer, showing great fitness and guile to work the late score. Had a mixed game before that but came up with a big defensive play in the second half and an assist for Huw Jones' try. 14. Tommy Freeman – 7 Sin-binned for going offside after a referee warning and the Lions shipped 12 points when he was off. Made a great impact upon return but otherwise didn't get loose to use his pace. 13. Huw Jones – 7 Played second fiddle to Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii but got his name on the scoresheet as the Lions mounted their first-half comeback. 12. Bundee Aki – 7.5 Did what was asked after coming in for Sione Tuipulotu. Carried hard and tackled hard but was caught for Tom Wright's try. Made a great break in the second half that led to Tadhg Beirne's try when the Lions needed some impetus. 11. James Lowe – 7 Carried for hard and clever yards but didn't kick to his standard. Made a couple of defensive errors but made up with a superb assist for Beirne, beating and drawing defenders to make space for the score. 10. Finn Russell – 8 Another mature, accomplished performance from the out-half. Kicked two conversions but missed three that could have been costly. His touch-kicking from penalties was excellent, putting the Lions in position to strike. 9. Jamison Gibson-Park – 8 Solid outing by the scrum-half, who matched up with an inspired counterpart in Jake Gordon. Spotted the chance on the outside for Tom Curry's score that started the comeback. 1. Andrew Porter – 7.5 Slotted into the all-Irish front row and helped the visitors assert dominance up front. Carried well when asked and racked up 16 tackles. 2. Dan Sheehan – 7.5 Busy shift in the middle of the park and again, flawless out of touch. Showed great smarts taking his try in that fashion, diving for the line to negate the predictable incoming chop tackle. 3- Tadhg Furlong – 7.5 Strong showing by the Lions veteran, who has started the last eight consecutive Tests. Never took a backward step and made 11 tackles. 4. Maro Itoje – 7.5 Conceded a couple of early penalties but got through a huge amount of work, was named the official player of the match. Completed 20 tackles. 5. Ollie Chessum – 7 Second best to Will Skelton but put in a solid performance in the second row. Was used in the lineout. Had 13 tackles to his name. 6. Tadhg Beirne – 7.5 Had a mixed bag, with a couple of uncharacteristic mistakes with the ball. Took his crucial try brilliantly. Was top-carrier for the Lions with 11 and completed 12 tackles. 7. Tom Curry – 7.5 Another who didn't reach the heights of last week but got on the scoresheet with a well-taken try at a vital point of the game. Busy and effective at the breakdown and contributed 15 tackles. 8. Jack Conan – 7.5 An unbelievably consistent performer. Does what it says on the tin. His carrying, breakdown play and defence helps everyone else look better. Set up Curry's try. 16. Rónan Kelleher (for Sheehan 65) – 6.5 Helped the Lions get the job done. 17. Genge (for Porter 55) – 7.5 Carried well when he came on and added much-needed energy. 18. Will Stuart (for Furlong 65) – 7 Penalised when the Lions were in good position but made up for a carry that led to the winning try. 19. James Ryan (for Chessum 55) – 7.5 Made an instant and hard-hitting impact on his debut. Fitting. 20. Jac Morgan (for Curry 55) – 7 Another who added crunch to the Lions comeback. Rightfully not penalised in the final passage. 22. Owen Farrell (for Jones 61) – 6.5 Cool head for the final stages. 23. Blair Kinghorn (for Lowe 61) – 6.5 Knocked on but made a nice break.

Eddie Howe: Newcastle have not held contract talks with Alexander Isak
Eddie Howe has revealed no contract talks have been held with Alexander Isak, but hopes to keep the striker at Newcastle. Isak has been at the centre of transfer speculation during the summer window. The 25-year-old did not travel on the pre-season tour of Asia, with the club stating that he missed out due to a 'minor thigh injury'. Hours later, reports emerged that Isak – who has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks – had told club executives he wanted to explore the possibility of a transfer away from St James' Park. Isak has been offered a staggering £600,000-a-week tax-free deal by Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia. Isak missed Newcastle's first pre-season fixture against Celtic last weekend and before their friendly against Arsenal on Sunday, Howe provided an update on the striker's situation. 'There's things going on behind the scenes. He will be aware he's in the news every day and I'm sure that's not easy for anyone,' the Newcastle manager said. 'Conversations that happen between Alex and the club or Alex and myself will stay private. We do share a really good relationship with him. He's been magnificent for us since he's joined. He's very popular in the dressing room and we'd love him to continue his journey at Newcastle.' Howe said there are no contract talks taking place with Isak, who has three years left on his existing deal. 'That'll be for a later date. 'With the situation as it is and the state of the window, in the sense that it's hurtling towards the end of the window very quickly from our perspective, there's still so much that could happen.' Howe confirmed that Isak is in Newcastle being assessed, adding on the club's website: 'With his injury, I've got no major update on that. He first mentioned his thigh just before the Celtic game and we assumed it would a be very minimal injury, nothing too serious. 'Then on the Monday after the Celtic game, he went in from training very early, didn't feel right, so he's now in Newcastle getting that injury assessed. Hopefully he'll be back soon playing in the black and white shirt. That's what we all want to see.' Isak joined Newcastle in August 2022. The Sweden forward scored 27 goals last season as Newcastle lifted the Carabao Cup and secured Champions League football by finishing fifth in the Premier League.

Lions fans poke fun at Australian commentary following Hugo Keenan winner
British and Irish Lions fans were happy to poke fun at Australian commentary after Hugo Keenan scored a last-gasp try to snatch a series victory for the tourists. Behind all game and, at one point, trailing 23-5, the Lions battled back in an epic in front of 90,000 people in Melbourne. The only time they led was when Keenan went over the try line at the death to win the series. However, referee Andrea Piardi spent time mulling over a clearout from Jac Morgan in the build-up to the try but eventually decided there was no foul play, thus giving the Lions victory and an unassailable series lead. Such is the partisan nature of the tour, Sky Sports commentary were jubilant with the victory, while Ronan O'Gara said he didn't see anything in the clear out worthy of foul play when mulling over the decision. In Australia, however, with the series lost, they viewed the Morgan play as a bit more contentious "A bloke has his nose 6cm off the floor, legal clear out, no direct head contact. Come on lads," said one social media user of the Australian. "This Aussie commentators whining about the ref not awarding a penalty," said another. "Listening to the Aussie commentary is incredible, absolutely begging it as a penalty," said another. However, it is worth noting there was plenty on social media who thought Australia should have been awarded a penalty. The Lions would win the game 29-26 in a clash for the ages and now they will be looking to complete the clean sweep next a game to spare, the Lions won their first series since 2013 and now eye a whitewash that would be a unique achievement in the professional era. "Wow, it was never in doubt, was it? Amazing, the occasion. The fans all deserve this, a grand slam finish like that," Andy Farrell told Sky Sports after the game. "It weren't too great in the first half, how we started, very costly on the scoreboard. We found a way to get back in the game and take it to them in the second half. "What a finish! I was screaming 'pass it, pass it' to Hugo, but he was never going to pass it. "When we was able to build pressure we was rolling pretty nicely."
