Polka Dots, Balloon Pants, Rat Bags, and More—All the Copenhagen Street Style Trends

Vogue2 days ago
It's not just you who's feeling dotty these days. At Copenhagen Fashion Week, the trend of the season was polka dots on everything from leggings to jackets. Credit for that goes to Caroline Bille Brahe's Caro Editions, one of the city's—and Scandinavia's—hottest rising brands.
Beyond polka dots, street stylers embraced all things fun, including Labubu charms and rat bags (these are the fashion-ified rats and not the scurrying creatures we see on the streets). The most runway conscious of the bunch drew inspiration from another European city—Paris—in the form of layered slips trend from The Row, and balloon pants courtesy of Alaïa. Scroll through the seven biggest trends from the spring 2026 shows in Copenhagen, below.

It was all polka dots all the time in Copenhagne, thanks to Caro Editions.

8 Songs for the Dog Days of Summer

By Dani Blum Dear listeners, This is Dani Blum, a health reporter and sometimes music writer at The New York Times, back again while Lindsay is out. A few weeks ago, Reggie Ugwu brought us songs for Lizard Season, the heat of peak summer. Now we're smack in the middle of sticky, sludgy August, where the thought of the season soon ending feels like both a gift and a threat. This week marks the tail end of the dog days of summer, but a humid, hazy head space usually lingers as we move into its last stretch. To help get through it, I've pulled together a playlist with some of my favorite dog-related tracks. I just returned from my favorite place to spend a summer, Copenhagen, so this playlist has a slight Scandinavian bent — there's drifty, synth-smeared pop from the Danish singer Erika de Casier and a relatively deep cut from the Swedish rapper Yung Lean. I've also included some beloved indie heavyweights, like boygenius, Mitski and Soccer Mommy. Every dog has its day, Dani This is an understated, underrated track from 'Eusexua,' FKA twigs's album-length ode to the club, which came out earlier this year. The song quietly builds as she toys with ideas about shame and submission, drums twitching as she admits, 'I'm a dog for you.' Want all of The Times? Subscribe.

The Scandi bob is the most flattering haircut! 5 ways to style it, straight from Copenhagen Fashion Week

As far as 2025 goes, the bobs keep on coming and as bob-having, trend-watching beauty director, I have so enjoyed watching more people become cut converts and embrace the versatile style. While a choppy bob has snuck back into the trends and the shaggy bob sees more Pinterest saves, for me, a blunt bob is the chicest cut of them all. I cut a chin-grazing blunt bob back in September 2024 and I've never felt more confident. But as the story goes, my hair grew, and slowly the style morphed into a bit of a sad lob. So, you can only imagine how quickly I messaged my hairdresser for a brutal cut when I saw the bobs bobbin' up at Copenhagen Fashion Week. As I skimmed through the images, I noticed they all had the same thing in common; all the bobs spotted outside shows where blunt and mostly chin-grazing. While Scandi blonde highlights has been a key beauty trend that peaks every summer, the Scandi bob is a contender to stick around and transcend seasons. The key to the style is that it's cut blunt, but then styled into a natural texture, and never over manipulated. It's a style that leans into the Scandi style and vibe; it's functional, laidback but still incredibly cool and fashion-forward. The best part is that it increases how voluminous your hair looks, by keeping it mainly all one length. If you have thick hair or fine hair but lots of it (raises hand), it emphasises how full your hair is – so in my books it really does suit everybody. And pairing it with a fringe? Yes please. Styling-wise, keep products pared all the way back. To enhance texture on fine hair, scrunch in a little bit of texture or salt spray (we love the Hair by Sam McKnight Sundaze Sea Spray) in while your hair is damp and either let it air dry or lightly diffuse. If you have thicker hair a cream like the JVN Air Dry Cream or the Larry King A Social Life For Your Hair cream will do the trick. Poker straight hair? Just a bit of light finishing oil should do the trick to give hair a glossy shine. Function and Fantasy: The Spring 2026 Copenhagen Fashion Week Trend Report

Trendwise, there's overlap with what we've seen for the 2026 resort season, in terms of suiting and utility. Summer vibes were evoked by the use of raffia and fringe, as well as the mix of swimwear and ready-to-wear. Duvet dressing, pajama stripes, and boxers evoked the sleep cycle that was so strong at the recent men's shows. Lace-trimmed lingerie took this out-from-under type of dressing in a more feminine direction, as did white dresses, some leaning into bridal. Wiring and boning was used to create permanently windswept scarves, unexpected volumes, and unexpected shapes. The sun came out and spirits were high in the Danish capital, yet even in this fairytale city, it was impossible to pretend that all was right in the world, hence Esben Weile Kjær and Anne Sofie Madsen's rat bag and looks for summer goths. Drip Dry People really do swim in Copenhagen's harbor, but you don't need to be in Denmark to make a splash by mixing swimwear with ready-to-wear. Shape Shifters Using wires, boning, and Alexis Carrington worthy shoulder pads, designers made scarves float in air without wind, and sculpted intriguing shapes around the body. Tie One On Layering is a tenet of Scandi style, even in the summer. It can take the form of tying a sweater around your neck or waist, or, as seen in the streets and on the runways, scarf-wrapped skirts. In Full Swing Tassels and fringe, ribbons and raw edges added movement and texture to summer dressing. Getting Leggy With It On the shorts front, biker shorts cycled into view, as did diaper styles for him and her. Out From Under Like circadian rhythms, designers kept duvet dressing, pajama stripes, and boxers, worn as shorts or peeping above waistlines, on repeat. Summer Goth While some designers conjured cottage core with Liberty prints and headscarves, others were more interested in leather motos and harder edged looks in shades of black. Mid-Century Midis Sylvia Plath proved a below-the-knee skirt needn't look frumpy. Now designers are revisiting this conservative length. Just Be Useful Workhorse wardrobe staples like belt bags, cargos, and water resistant outerwear don't have to look dull. Tout de Suit It's impossible to imagine a Copenhagen Fashion Week that doesn't feature some smart tailoring. Bridal Party White dresses, some made from upcycled home textiles or with broderie anglaise, were all the rage.
