NEST is a compulsory computer-based test for admission to the five-year Integrated MSc programme in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics, at National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai – Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM–DAE CEBS), Mumbai.

As per the official notification, 'All Admissions to the First Year of Degree Programs and their Academic activities will be as per the provisions and guidelines of NEP 2020 issued by University of Mumbai, Government of Maharashtra and U.G. C. from time to time." The online admission portal, which was launched on May 8, 2025, received an overwhelming response with 2,53,370 students registering and submitting 8,11,643 applications for various courses.
