
Person dies after small boat carrying 62 migrants breaks up in English Channel
A person has died after an "overloaded" small boat carrying 62 people sank while they tried to cross the Channel overnight, French authorities said.
The Maritime Prefect of the Channel and the North Sea said 62 people were pulled from the water after the boat broke up.
The French assistance and rescue intervention tug (RIAS) Abeille Normandie recovered 50 people, while the RNLI recovered two people and the Border Force Ranger nine people. All those rescued were transferred to the Abeille.

Three dead swans found near Broads drainage pump at Oby Dyke
Dead swans have been discovered on the Broads after they got trapped in water near a drainage and Wildlife Rescue said it received a call alerting them to four birds, including three which were dead, trapped at Oby Dyke, Norfolk, on charity said the birds appeared to have been stuck and were unable to climb the steep bank to get group's Dan Goldsmith said: "Swans require a good distance to get flight so flying in and out here was not possible." Kerala: Four crew members missing as Singapore cargo ship burns off India coast
