Woman rescued from Munro after sustaining multiple injuries

A Scots mountain rescue team have warned of the importance of being prepared on the hills, after rescuing a walker with multiple injuries.
Assynt Mountain Rescue, which covers Caithness and Sutherland, was called out to Ben Hope, the most northerly Munro, at 5pm on Sunday, June 1.
The casualty had sustained a suspected broken wrist as well as other injuries.
The team administered pain relief and splinted the affected arm before a long stretcher recovery down the mountain's difficult terrain to a waiting ambulance.
Images shared on social media showed eight volunteers in bright red jackets and helmets evacuating the casualty on a metal stretcher secured by ropes.
The ground appears steep, uneven and rocky as they make their way down. The ambulance can be seen at the bottom of the hill in one shot.

Posting about the callout, the team advised anybody exploring the hills to take precautions and bring spare warm clothing and food, in case it may be required.

A Foreign Office spokesperson said: 'We are supporting the family of a British man reported missing in Portugal and are in contact with the local authorities'.

Mrs Macdonald was rushed to nearby Raigmore Hospital where she later tragically died from her injuries the following day. A 55-year-old male, named in court as Ian MacDonald, was also found seriously injured. It is understood that the man, thought to be Mrs MacDonald's husband, is in intensive care, but his condition has not been officially disclosed. The family have asked for privacy as they come to terms with the death. A 30-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection, and he appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court on Tuesday. Thomas Fraser, the couple's son, made no plea and was committed for further examination and remanded in custody by Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald. The first charge alleges that on June 1 Fraser repeatedly stabbed his father on the body with two knives to his serious injury, danger of life and he attempted to murder him. The second charge alleges that on June 2, 2025, he murdered his mother by repeatedly stabbing her to the head, neck, and body with two knives. Photographs taken at the scene of the alleged incident showed forensics and specialist officers attending a property at Craigton Avenue on Sunday. Aldi advises customers to store eggs in the freezer
The unusual hack from the supermarket giant promises to make your eggs stay fresher and last longer. Aldi has shared a storage hack with customers that guarantees to keep their eggs fresher for longer. The budget supermarket advised shoppers who want to give their eggs a longer lifespan to pop them in the freezer. The tip may sound strange, but food waste experts believe storing eggs in minus temperatures stops them going off as quick as they would if they were kept in a fridge or at room temperature. Kate Hall, food storage expert, partnered with Aldi to share key food storing tips for shoppers in the hope of reducing food waste. Kate says to make your eggs last, shoppers should break them from the shell, then freeze them either as whites, yolks, or both mixed together. They should then mix with a sprinkle or sugar or salt before pouring it into a freezer bag and placing it in your freezer, reports the Express. kate explains: 'Using your freezer is such a simple way to press pause on your food so it doesn't end up in the bin. 'Freezing food can help our budgets stretch further, and you can actually freeze a lot more than people realise. The trick is knowing the best way to freeze food and what to do with it after freezing. 'No one wants to experience the stench of an egg past its best, so to make sure none of yours go to waste, keep them in the original box in the fridge or a cool pantry. It's important that they stay at a consistent temperature rather than in the everchanging temperatures of a home kitchen. 'And in case you're wondering, YES, you CAN freeze eggs! 'Make sure you always freeze them on or before the best before date - the fresher the better. You'll need to break them out of the shells first, but eggs can be frozen as whites, yolks (with a pinch of salt or sugar), or combined. If you're freezing the whole egg, always whisk it first as it will be far harder to mix together after defrosting.
