New Zealand will go into the 2026 tournament as the defending champions.
The expanded 12-team tournament will see 33 games played over 24 days. Eight teams – hosts England, Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and West Indies – have already secured their spots for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026. Four additional teams will join them through the Qualifier scheduled next year.
The 12 teams will be split into two groups of six for the group stage, followed by the knockout rounds and finals.
The final is set for July 5, 2026. Lord's hosted the final of the 50-over World Cup in 2017, when England defeated India for the title.

ICC Chair Jay Shah described the confirmation of venues as "a defining moment."
"The United Kingdom's rich diversity has always shown passionate support for all teams, something we witnessed so memorably at past events," he said. "The sell-out Women's Cricket World Cup final at Lord's in 2017 remains a landmark in the rise of the women's game, and I cannot think of a more fitting stage for the final.
"As we turn our focus to preparing for the tournament, we are excited by the promise of thrilling T20 action that will not only captivate fans here but also serve as a showcase for cricket's return on the Olympic stage in Los Angeles 2028."

BCCI holds 28th Apex Council meeting, constitutes committee to form guidelines for victory celebrations after tournaments
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 14 (ANI): The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) held its 28th Apex Council meeting on Saturday, during which a committee was formed to prevent cases like the stampede outside Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium after Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title win. Also, venues for the home white-ball series between India and New Zealand were approved. The committee will be headed by BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia. The committee will formulate guidelines about such victory celebrations within 15 days. A statement from BCCI said, 'The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) convened its 28th Apex Council Meeting on Saturday, June 14, 2025.' 'The following key decisions were taken during the meeting: The Apex Council expressed its profound grief over the tragic incidents in Ahmedabad and Bengaluru, which led to the unfortunate loss of innocent lives.' 'In light of the incident that occurred during the victory celebrations in Bengaluru, the Apex Council has decided to constitute a committee to formulate comprehensive guidelines aimed at preventing such occurrences in the future. The committee will comprise: Devajit Saikia (Chairperson), Prabhtej Singh Bhatia (BCCI Treasurer) and Rajeev Shukla (BCCI vice-president). The committee will formulate the guidelines within 15 days,' the statement continued. The stampede left 11 people dead and 33 people injured. The Apex Council confirmed the venues for India's upcoming white-ball home series against New Zealand, scheduled to be held in early 2026. The series will have three ODIs to be held at Baroda (January 11), Rajkot (January 14) and Indore (January 18) and five T20Is to take place at Nagpur (January 21), Raipur (January 23), Guwahati (January 25), Vizag (January 28) and Trivandrum (January 31). The BCCI Domestic Season 2025-26 has been approved, the season will start with the Duleep Trophy (August 28, 2025) and conclude with the Senior Women's Inter-Zonal Multi-Day Trophy (April 3, 2026). There have been some key changes made to domestic cricket tournaments and structure: *The Duleep Trophy and Senior Women's Challenger tournaments will now be contested between six zonal teams selected by zonal selectors. *Plate Group restructuring has been introduced across age categories. The bottom 6 teams (based on the previous season's rankings) will be placed in the Plate Group for limited-overs tournaments. *Promotion/relegation rules updated: Only one team will be promoted/relegated between Elite and Plate groups going forward. *Tournament Format Updates: The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Senior Women's T20 Trophy will now include a Super League stage instead of a traditional knockout. *New Grouping Formats: Major tournaments such as Vijay Hazare Trophy, Senior Women's One Day Trophy, and Men's U23 State A Trophy will follow a 4 Elite Groups + 1 Plate Group model. Most junior and women's tournaments (U16, U19, U23) have moved to a 5 Elite + 1 Plate group structure. The Apex Council has resolved to establish a Working Group comprising five (5) 'Umpire Coaches' to oversee the development of umpires and enhance their on-field performance. These five 'Umpire Coaches' must possess international umpiring experience and have served as former umpires. Additionally, the Apex Council has decided to form a Working Group consisting of three (3) former Match Referees. New Delhi [India], June 14 (ANI): Former India skipper and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president, Sourav Ganguly, shared his thoughts on how to use right-arm seamer Jasprit Bumrah in the five-match Test series against the Three Lions. A new era beckons for India in the Test format as the modern-day giants gear up for their first assignment without the prized batting bigwigs Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Shubman Gill, India's youngest Test captain, has taken the baton from Rohit to guide the nation to success and challenge for the World Test Championship mace. Speaking to Boria Majumdar on Revsportz about how to use Bumrah in the England Test series, Sourav Ganguly said, 'You've got to look out for him and not make him bowl more than 12-13 overs a day. Use him as a wicket-taker, and that's the key. That's how Gill should use him. I believe four fast bowlers are important. Here, others will have to be the warhorses like Siraj, Arshdeep. New Delhi [India] June 14 (ANI): Former Indian veteran cricketer Surinder Khanna congratulates South Africa for their maiden World Test Championship (WTC) title victory over Australia by five wickets at Lord's on Saturday. With this victory, South Africa has won its first-ever world title in international cricket. This is also the country's second ICC trophy after the ICC Knockout 1998. Also, Australia skipper Pat Cummins' golden run as a captain, which started with the retention of the Ashes series against England and was followed by an incredible WTC mace and 50-over World Cup wins over India, has come to a halt. While speaking to ANI, Surinder Khana said, 'I think it's historic. After playing outstanding cricket, they have defeated mighty Australia. Congratulations to them. I'm sure this will bring a lot of changes in the coming years for South Africa, and collectively, they have done it. ' Khana also praised Proteas skipper Temba Bavuma and seamer Kagiso Rabada for their performance in the WTC final. 'I think Bavuma played well in both innings, Rabada was also brilliant, nine wickets in the match and over 300 test match wickets. So, that speaks volumes about him.' Khanna praised Aiden Markram's exceptional performance, particularly highlighting his joy of watching him score a century in the final against Australia, especially on a significant day. 'He's [Aiden Markram] an outstanding cricketer. We all know in T20 and other formats. But in the test match, outstanding simply, you know, it was a joy. He has three test century against Australia and he scored at the big day,' he added. Aiden Markram slammed a memorable century, and captain Temba Bavuma fought through injury to score a combined 102 runs in the match, as SA chased down a daunting target of 282 on Day 4. Kagiso Rabada starred with the ball, taking nine wickets in the match. (ANI)
