By: Bernama Text Size: PUCHONG: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim ( pic ) asserted that he had no involvement in the Kuala Lumpur High Court's decision to grant a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak over three money laundering charges involving RM27 million from SRC International Sdn Bhd. 'That is the judge's decision, and the Attorney General's. I do not interfere,' he said briefly when approached by reporters after performing Friday prayers at Masjid Kampung Seri Aman today.
Advertisement Earlier, Judge K Muniandy allowed the defence's application for a DNAA, citing the prosecution's lack of preparedness to proceed with trial proceedings, which have been marked by persistent postponements since 2019. The court was informed that the prosecution had yet to obtain the necessary documentary evidence. The delay, the judge noted, had denied the accused the right to a fair and timely resolution of the case. JISA Special Op To Audit 500 Bus And Lorry Operators Starting Monday
BUTTERWORTH, June 20 (Bernama) -- The Road Transport Department (JPJ) will conduct audits on 500 operators of public service vehicles (PSV) and high-risk goods commercial vehicles (GCV) through the nationwide JPJ Inspection & Safety Audit (JISA) Special Operation, starting Monday. Its director-general, Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli, said the operation was carried out in line with the directive from the Transport Minister Anthony Loke to investigate PSV and GCV operators to ensure compliance with the audit process stipulated under the Land Public Transport Act (APAD). He said the main focus of the operation is to assess the company's compliance level with safety aspects, vehicle maintenance, driver management, and compliance records under the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333) and related regulations. "The enforcement of the JISA Special Op involves the implementation of Safety Inspection and Audit Reports that focus on compliance with the Industrial Code of Practice (ICOP) regarding safety in the transportation industry. "Additionally, there will be the review and resolution of outstanding issues for vehicle owners and drivers, as well as compliance with the Vehicle Technical Plan," he said at a press conference after officiating the Penang-level MyLesen B2 Driving Licence Programme 2025 presentation ceremony here today. Aedy Fadly emphasised that the action was taken following the recent frequent accidents involving heavy vehicles, including the bus crash that claimed the lives of 15 Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) students on June 9. Commenting further, he said his team had also identified the list of involved companies obtained from the APAD and JPJ list through a review of outstanding summonses. "Based on statistics, the JPJ has identified a category of high-risk operators, which includes 300 lorries, 100 tour buses and 100 express buses," he also said. He added that strict action will be taken against any operator found to be violating regulations or neglecting safety aspects, including issuing notices of violation, suspension, or cancellation of vocational driving licenses (PSV/GDL) or company operator licences.

KUALA LUMPUR, June 20 (Bernama) -- Newly appointed Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail has pledged to strengthen the force's capabilities and credibility, particularly in combating cross-border crimes through the use of technology. He expressed hope that the move would steer the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) towards greater heights, in line with the force's modernisation, particularly in adopting the latest technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI). Create A Special Police Ministry For PDRM - Razarudin Husain, Outgoing IGP
KUALA LUMPUR, June 20 (Bernama) – The outgoing 14th Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain has proposed that the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) be placed under a dedicated ministry to strengthen the operations and management of the 130,000-strong force. He said the proposal had been submitted to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the Home Ministry for consideration, noting that it is an administrative structure common in other countries such as China, Brazil, Vietnam, South Korea as well as Brunei, to be on par with key sectors such as health and defence. 'I see this need as an important resolution to ensure PDRM continues to be relevant, in line with the evolution of today's globalisation and digital era. 'I am optimistic that this (special ministry) will bring about positive change and great improvement in empowering public service for the common good,' he said when speaking at the Handover of Duties Ceremony of the Inspector-General of Police at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) in Kuala Lumpur today. Earlier at the ceremony, Bukit Aman Special Branch director Datuk Mohd Khalid Ismail was appointed as the 15th IGP to replace Razarudin effective today. The ceremony was witnessed by Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and was also attended by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil and senior PDRM officers. In his speech, Razarudin expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the support from various parties throughout his tenure as the head of the security forces since June 2023 and throughout his more than 42 years of service in PDRM. The Dengkil-born native also reminded all members to continue upholding integrity and make the value of good governance the core of service delivery. 'As is well known, the problems of integrity, corruption, misconduct and abuse of power still plague the image and create a stigma for the force and its personnel.
