Pro-Palestine activists vandalise Glasgow factory over 'Israel links'
Photos have emerged of activists vandalising the Scottish offices of a military parts manufacturer over the company's alleged links to the Israeli military campaign in Gaza.
Parker Hannifin's premises in Glasgow's Hillington were targeted on Monday night, April 28, with the building covered in red paint and defaced with slogans such as 'Free Palestine' and 'Your profits are covered in blood.'
Activists from the group Palestine Action Scotland claimed responsibility for the incident, accusing the firm of supplying components used in weapons systems deployed by Israeli forces.
In a statement, the group said the action was taken in response to 'calls from Palestine to disrupt the flow of arms and technology from Scotland to Israel.' They specifically cited Parker Hannifin's role in producing parts for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter and other military aircraft used in Israeli operations.
The company also supplies systems to Leonardo, an Italian defence contractor with long-standing ties to Israel, known for manufacturing components for Apache helicopters and F-35 targeting systems.
'These weapons have been used to drop 2,000lb bombs on Gaza, destroying homes, civilian infrastructure, and killing tens of thousands,' the group said. 'Parker Hannifin has blood on its hands and will remain a target until it cuts ties with complicit companies like Leonardo.'
The protest marks the second time activists in Scotland have targeted Parker Hannifin over its involvement in the arms trade with Israel. Campaigners referenced investigations by Amnesty International and legal proceedings at the International Court of Justice, which have described the situation in Gaza as genocide.
'This brutal war of extermination is being enabled by companies operating right here in Scotland,' the group said. 'Every company that chooses to be part of the supply chain to Israel's military shares responsibility and profits from genocide.'
Palestine Action Scotland is part of a wider direct-action network seeking to shut down what it describes as 'sites of complicity' in Israeli apartheid. The group has carried out similar actions across the UK targeting companies involved in military supply chains.

'There were attempts to portray the 'blank sheet of paper' approach of the consultation as a good thing, but it was nebulous, and led to claim and counterclaim about what a Galloway National Park might be like. 'Galloway is not like the other two parks – our hills have hill farms, not just hillwalkers – and no way should remote and distant national park bureaucrats be anywhere near decisions on some of the most productive grassland in the UK. 'Agriculture is the backbone of the economy in Dumfries and Galloway, and it's not just about farmers and stockmen – it's about the hundreds of jobs in associated businesses, from seed merchants to machinery firms, to accountants who do the books.' Galloway and West Dumfries MSP Mr Carson added: 'The government's handling of the national park selection process has been opaque, inconsistent, and dismissive of genuine local engagement. 'Communities across Galloway invested time, energy, and hope into a process which could and should have united communities, but that process was poorly communicated and ultimately felt predetermined. 'Rather than fostering trust and collaboration, the Government's approach has sown division and confusion. It has left many wondering whether rural voices are truly being heard in this parliament. 'We could have avoided months of uncertainty and frustration. We should have had an independent review of the existing parks so that lessons could be learned.' Naturecot's consultation revealed the majority of people who responded were from the area that would be covered by the national park, with 54 per cent of respondents against the idea. South Scotland MSP Emma Harper said: 'Too often the Scottish Government and its agencies are accused of not listening to the voices of the people, so I hope those accusations can be brought to a peep now that the consultation process has been shown to be open, transparent and fair, and was one of the major factors determining the Government's decision. 'Going forward we need to strike the right balance between biodiversity, the natural environment, tourism and the economic development all of our communities are striving for regardless of their views on the park itself. 'I firmly believe that whatever views each of us held on the proposals that were on the table and expressed through the consultation process, we all collectively need to work together on how we develop Galloway economically, socially, and culturally over the years and decades ahead. 'That work would require to be done regardless of whether national park status was a reality, but now the decision has been made it's more relevant and urgent than ever.'

Sinn Féin MEP Lynn Boylan has accused the Government of a "cop out" on the Occupied Territories Bill and her party's Israeli bonds bill. TDs voted 87-75 against a motion brought by Sinn Féin to force the Irish Central Bank to end its role in facilitating the 'Israeli war bonds' in the EU on Wednesday. In an interview with Ms Boylan said: "People are dying, almost 100 people are dying every single day, and children are starving to death and the Irish government has leverage which it is refusing to use. "I do appreciate the fact that Ireland recognised the state of Palestine and that was a very important step. It was good that they wrote and asked for a review of the EU Israel Association Agreement, but again that was February. So over a year ago, and now we're only seeing action on that, and it's not even being suspended. It's pending the review. We need to stop the killing. We need to stop the slaughter. "We need to stop the killing. We need to stop the slaughter. And that means using whatever leverage each member State has. You're not going to get a consensus at an EU level. That's very, very clear after 19 months. It's not going to happen. So take the unilateral measures. You're covered under international law to do that. And and that's where Israel will sit up and listen." The Occupied Territories Bill will ban imports originating from the Palestinian Territories that are illegaly occupied by Israel under international law, according to the International Court of Justice (ICJ). However, the bill the Government are considering differs from the initial bill put forward by Senator Frances Black, as it will not ban trade in services with the Occupied Territories. "The ICJ Occupied Territories ruling has decided those territories are occupied illegally. Advertisement "On the ICJ ruling, every state should take measures to prevent the genocide from happening. That means not providing financial assistance in any way, including economic trade. So I would say to them put it up to the EU, use it as an excuse to take them on and go 'OK, well, we're not going to be the ones on the wrong side of history'. "I think the the watering down of the Occupied Territories Bill is to make sure that it is more or less a symbolic bill which is deeply disappointing. Seventy per cent of trade is in services. "The ICJ ruling was clear. It's economic trade, they made no distinction between trade and goods and trade and services so it is a cop out on the part of the Government. Not only have they delayed and stalled this bill, they've now made sure it's as ineffective as they possibly can. It has been described as symbolic." In a recent speech in the European Parliament, Ms Boylan made an apology to the people of Gaza for EU "inaction". That is why I felt that frustration that I just may want to make an apology because the role I have as chair of of the European Parliament Delegation to Palestine, I'm meeting with Palestinian solidarity groups, I'm meeting with groups that are in Gaza on the ground and I've literally nothing positive to say to them anymore because everything we have tried has just been stonewalled. I was just overwhelmed by the reaction to it, to be honest. "It's just soul destroying, because what is the red line anymore? "The control or the influence that Israel has over the Western world, that they're just allowing international law to be shredded in front of our eyes and war crimes to be committed and to do nothing. You have to question the long-term impacts of this, both for the European Union, for democracy, for people, humanity, it is all being called into question because of what we're seeing."

The Mafia-style execution is said to have happened as people were watching the Champion League final. According to local media, one of the men's partners witnessed the attack. The incident happened on the terrace of Monaghans in Fuengirola when a masked man got out of a car and opened fire. The second target was said to have ran into the bar as staff and customers ducked underneath tables and chairs. Police have retraced part of their escape route to the old N-340 dual carriageway heading towards Benalmadena. Details about the make and colour of the getaway vehicle have not yet been released. Officers from an elite Spanish National Police Costa del Sol -based Anti-Drug and Organised Crime Unit UDYCO are heading the ongoing probe, although they are reporting to a local investigating judge coordinating the operation. Court officials are expected to confirm later today a secrecy order has been placed on the investigation, preventing public officials from making detailed public comment. Some local reports point to witnesses identifying the shooter as a 'blond man' and investigators working on the theory British nationals are behind the gangland killing, but detectives have not commented. The shooting in Spain comes amid a violent gang war that has ripped through Scotland in recent months following an alleged dispute over drugs. Spain's National Police confirmed two men were killed but declined to name them, saying: 'Around midnight on Saturday an incident with firearms occurred in Fuengirola, specifically at an entertainment venue along the seafront. Two males died as a result from gunshot wounds. The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made so far.' Career criminal Monaghan, who fled Scotland for Spain after a failed attempt on his life outside a Glasgow primary school in 2017, was tried but acquitted over the murder of notorious Glasgow hood Kevin 'Gerbil' Carroll at an Asda car park in 2010.
