US President Donald Trump told Russian President Vladimir Putin during a telephone conversation that he brokered peace between India and Pakistan. The Russian leader is understood to have given a patient hearing to Trump amid Moscow's stated position that any dispute between India and Pakistan is strictly bilateral in nature.The recent conflict between India and Pakistan was among the issues which figured during a phone call between them, according to a Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov.During their conversation on Wednesday, the two leaders discussed Ukraine and also touched on some other issues, Ushakov told a media briefing."They also touched upon the Middle East and the armed conflict between India and Pakistan, which was stopped with the personal participation of President Trump," Ushakov was quoted as saying by Russia's state-run TASS news agency.Ushakov, however, didn't share the details. Persons familiar with the US-Russia dynamics told ET that Putin has been in talks with Trump to stabilise US-Russia and US-Iran ties and gave a patient hearing to the American leader. Moscow has been maintaining that there is no scope for internationalising the Indo-Pak conflict and backed India's anti-terror actions.Trump has repeatedly claimed that he stopped India and Pakistan from fighting. However, India has been maintaining that the understanding on cessation of hostilities with Pakistan was reached following direct talks between the Directors General of Military Operations of the two militaries.Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has urged Putin to assist in resolving the conflict with India, Pakistan PM's special aide Syed Tariq Fatemi said. Fatemi, who met foreign minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on Tuesday, handed over a letter from Sharif for Putin.His visit came days after a highly successful tour of a multi-party parliamentary delegation led by DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, who spread awareness about Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism and got solid Russian backing for India's zero-tolerance policy against terrorism.

For the uninitiated, the two powerful men had a dirty public fallout after the US President publicly criticized the world's richest man and his former pal at a White House press briefing, backing legislation that could severely impact the electric vehicle industry. Several political and personal attacks were directly aimed at Trump but at some point in the day, Musk had a divine intervention. A Shame An X user who goes by the handle @Fab25june responded to one of Musk's (deleted) posts stating that the Tesla chief had to stop the back and forth. The unknown X user was responding to Musk's threat to 'decommission" SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft that carries astronauts and essential supplies to the International Space Station. For context, Musk's post was in response to Trump's threat to chop federal contracts with his companies. The X user, tired of the standoff between the two powerful men, came in to save the day. 'This is a shame this back and forth. You are both better than this. Cool off and take a step back for a couple days," the user wrote. Musk, realising that his retaliation could have a major impact on space exploration with NASA being directly affected by his actions, took a breather and called it a day. 'Good advice. Ok, we won't decommission Dragon," a humbled down Musk wrote in response. Andhra Pradesh raises maximum working hours from 9 to 10 to boost investment
Live Events (You can now subscribe to our (You can now subscribe to our Economic Times WhatsApp channel The TDP-led NDA government in Andhra Pradesh has decided to raise the maximum working hours from nine to 10 per day as part of ease of doing business and attracting Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Minister K Parthasarathy said that it has been decided to amend labour laws to make them 'favourable' to workers and state secretary K Ramakrishna criticised the move and said NDA governments at the Centre and state are pursuing 'anti worker' policies."Relevant sections of laws which allow maximum nine hours of work a day has now been raised to 10 hours per day. Under Section 55 there used to be one hour rest for five hours (work) now that has been changed to six hours," said Parthasarathy recently, elaborating on the decisions made by the cabinet to amend labour Parthasarathy noted that overtime was allowed only up to 75 hours which now has been extended up to 144 hours per quarter."Because of this (amendments to labour laws), investors in factories will (come to our state). These labour rules will be favourable for labourers and they will come to invest more. Globalisation is happening in every state. These amendments were brought to implement global rules," said the minister observed that the cabinet has also relaxed night shift rules to enable more women to work in the night to the I&PR Minister, women were not allowed to work in the night shifts earlier but now they can work with safeguards such as consent, transport facility, security and said the workplace of women during night shifts should be fully illuminated."When you work extra, income will increase. By these rules women can work in the formal sector. They empower women economically and promote gender inclusion and industrial growth. Also contribute to women's empowerment," he K Ramakrishna, State Secretary of CPI, opposed the NDA alliance government's stand on labour laws amendments. He alleged that the Central and state governments are working against the interests of workers."For the past 11 years, the Modi government has repeatedly taken measures that infringe upon workers' rights in India," Ramakrishan told PTI on oppose these rules, he said trade unions have decided to protest on July 9 all over India, adding that all sections will participate in this protest he observed that the NDA governments both at the Centre and in the state are pursuing 'anti-worker policies'.
